What happened was she changed her culture and went with the Hip Hop gang. I liked hip hop back in the day but Mariah was not that person till that video with her under water in about 98' I believe. I could be wrong. I think she was doing music with Puffy at the time. I miss the wholesome Mariah. She was one of my favorite women of all time

It seems like the diva attitude came out with The Emancipation of Mimi. I mean, her Charmbracelet era interviews were still coherent and down to earth, too, just not as fun, more stressful and somber. I think that she wants to be relatable to the younger generation and plays up the divaness for them, and as a way to save face/ give a pokerface so people don't really know who she is. Like the bully who is hurting and saves face by bullying. Actually, Mariah gave an interview in 1999 to a magazine about being a bully in high school and pushing girls in the locker.

She has had this problem for the last several years. She retains water very easily. I saw in her in 4 concerts over the course of 2 weeks. The first concert she was normal looking, and then the 2nd and 3rd show days she was very puffy, and then a few days later on concert 4, she was back to normal.
