I watched 55 of your videos in a week. Your videos gave me the confidence to ask for a promotion at work to go from maintenance tech to service tech a couple months ago. When I was denied I put in my two weeks in the next day and became a service tech at another company. The pay increase is 4x what I was making before. I hope you read this, thank you for what you've done for me.
you know, sometimes you get a chance to tell good people, that we appreciate them.....So, I'm gonna do just that , and yeah, I know Steve gets paid, but frankly, everyone gets paid, it's really just a matter of how well you do it....So then it becomes an issue of trust....Anyway, I appreciate the way Steve totally involves himself into getting the job done correctly.....plus we get to have some fun and then there's Molly....Steve, thanks for being a good guy....we all need more like you....and I am sure you don't want to hear that, but too bad! Hi Molly!
Good one Steve. I just retired, the company that I worked for insists on using a vacuum gauge to achieve a vacuum of 500 microns. Yes it takes longer, but the end result is what counts. Goodman/Amana told us to shoot for 9 degrees sub cooling or super heat. Just a couple of tips for the younger guys.
Years ago I brought an old AC system back to life. A local company condemned it saying it wasn't cost effective to fix. I ended up replacing the condenser fan motor, both caps in the condenser, and both king valves. Also pulled the evap coil and did a good cleaning. Unit is still running strong to this day. Whomever originally installed the system didn't put the right piston in it. It was a 2 ton condenser and a 2.5 ton air handler... I'm glad I work on commercial stuff now... Chilled Water FTW!
So awesome nice. My late father made provisions to put chiller in his home.. fan coils throughout the house . There some pretty cool mini chillers. Here but mini splits seem the way to go with residential.
At the end you are talking about the saturated temperature and pressure in the evaporator. You are showing the screen on the 550 that shows the SH and SC, it would have been nice to switch to the EV and CO screen, then you can show people that your evaporator temperature is above freezing. The nice thing about these digital instruments, you don't need to have a pt chart to look at. I've found that many techs who have been at this for many years don't even think about the pt charts, they just remember the pressures, I do the opposite, I of course do watch the pressures but pay more attention to the temperatures. Keep up the videos. Jim
Nice work Steve 💪 Need to go back and increase the size of the return duct, and then add another return on the other side to get that system operating at its peak performance. 👍👍
It may be back. This is the bad thing about service; as the txv may not be the total issue. The flex return maybe a huge issue in this case. That 14" flex may throat down to 12". I've had many return air duct issues and when I did replacements I always sized the ducts before doing anything else. IF the load did not add up to ductwork; you need larger ductwork. Btw. The worse problem I ever had was some fool placed a throwaway filter in the return where nobody knew it was. The filter in return air grille was clean. On start up airflow was great and pressures perfect. It would freeze up 8 hours later. After 4 call backs,we decided to tear out the return ducts in crawlspace and found the filter as we were going to increase return.
Gary Glanz undersized returns and poor airflow seem to be common issues with systems. I don’t know if installers are not educated on how to properly size ductwork or they are just plain lazy. I do more service then installations and see this all the time.
See so many undersized returns here and found some that they used flex duct which is not permitted here only hard pipe can be used on returns… costly to my customers because usually I have to remove and replace drywall when doing so
Man Steve I don’t know how you do the trouble light with the cord. You need to get you the dewalt battery trouble lights. I just Just keep a double slot charger in the van and pop one in when it needs it. it’s super convenient and brighter than the corded ones. Those lithium batteries last days before they need charged. Man it would save you a lot of time and aggravation for sure.
What is a txv ? My brain is guessing thermal expansion valve. But im prolly way off. I watch these to learn bits and pieces as i have no clue about this field of work but am interested in joining the field.
Scroll compressors incorporate internal low vacuum protection and will stop pumping (unload) when the pressure ratio exceeds approximately 10:1. ... Which is a bad idea on any compressor
Hey, if you're serious about getting anyone a PT chart, I 'll take you up on the offer, I'm a beginner at the whole air conditioning technology and would appreciate it. Let me know?
I PERSONALLY don't like electronic leak detectors. 3:40... electronic leak detector is ringing. What is it pointing at? NOT beating you up.... I don't like the detectors. Beeps and no beeps in same areas. 6:50.... holy ship. I actually learned something today. Where I live we have VERY few "common" return systems. BEND those tabs out..... 8:30 is pump down.... good training. Good job. Scroll compressor? Probably not going to get a FULL vacuum. 12:01 are you asking the homeowner for supplies??? 14:10 I don't understand your engineering and redesign ideas of the equipment. TXV 13 SEER equipment should not be replaced by a fixed piston. You might make it "work" but you are not smarter then the OEM engineers. AGAIN I don't think you are a "HACK" but I do have doubts about hiring you.... especially in your customer service skills. (just sayin')
Was Steve shutting off the suction king valve while trying to pump it down? If so- don’t do that. Easier to pump down with 1/2” or larger hose straight to the pump after pulling schrader core. Bonus is using a micron gauge.

That is awesome!
Good for you Pablo! The key to this business is realizing what your worth is.
Glad for you Pablo. Keep learning and the opportunities appear. Very nice of you to credit Steve.
That is outstanding.
Congratulations all the best to you.
I pump down by pushing in contactor don't have to worry about pressure switches or disconnect ,just saying!love your video's!

Great video Steve. Keep them coming. I’ve been doing it for years now but u never stop learning.

Good teaching video using superheat or subcooling methods at the end of Video. Great that you took the time to explain carefully.
Enjoyed the classroom time at the end.

The Truck sounds good since the injector transplant.
Good enough for that neighborhood.
Wow... All threaded connections... Convenient....
Steven lavimonier you are good fixing ac and heat 👍👍👍😎😎👍👍👍👍👍👍😎😎👍👍👍
Great repair and takeaway lesson at the end!
I bet the installer roasted those service valves.
A lil gund. Been a minute lately since we gave her the 'ol gundy. Keep coming Steve, you are awesome!
Your talented guy, there instructor Steve.
Nice work Steve 💪 Need to go back and increase the size of the return duct, and then add another return on the other side to get that system operating at its peak performance. 👍👍
Great info at the end. Thanks! 👍
video cut, where did the rest of the gas that didnt pump down go, lol. good work as always
He sucked the rest out with his mouth so he could get a nice headrush and drool going. Lol i kid.
Love your teachings bro keep them up I learn a bunch
16:52 Wow! I have a single 14" on my 3-ton! Only a 14"X30"X1" filter!
Good explanation on using superheat or subcooling methods at the end of Video.
Nice trick on the low pressure safety. 👍
Steven lavimonier I like your utube videos are awesome 👍👍👍👍😎😎😎😎👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😎
Think maybe the last guys, added a lubricant to dislodge the TXV. And in the process, spilled the oil all over, while hooking and unhooking hoses ?
Steve is a Goodman lord
Love the tech tips !!
Thanks for the review at the end, n correct gotta be above freezing
Did you fix the leak on the suction valve and even though you have a txv shouldn't your SH be between 8 and 15 degrees
I read the Goodman service manual for a 2 ton txv unit and their subcooling recommendation is between 5-7. Do you experts believe this is to low?
Nice job.
Great advice for troubleshooting.
When Molley heard Goodman
Her ears went straight up.
Excellent video Steve, been watching your content for a long time. 👍👍👍
Thnx again Steve and heave a great weekend ✌️
I see your back to the 550. What happened to the 570?
Looks like a hot-one up in that attic mamma!!!
Excellent video Steve! Thanks!
Happy Birthday Steve-O
Nice job Steve! Keep up the great work mama!

Wait so if you have a txv you don't have to get the wet bulb and dry bulb to get your sc? If not how do you know what your sc is suppost to be then?
You could’ve just press the contactor with a screw driver until all the refrigerant gets in the condenser instead of jumping the pressure sensors
I thought that too but he would have to remove the cover lol
I do it all the time.
Steve, excellent video. What model tablet do you use with your Smart Probes?
See so many undersized returns here and found some that they used flex duct which is not permitted here only hard pipe can be used on returns… costly to my customers because usually I have to remove and replace drywall when doing so
A lot of techs put in bigger air handlers little better performance?

Very interesting Steve, thanks for the lesson! Dave in RI
Just push in the contactor with a screwdriver while pumping system down instead of jumping out the low pressure switch.
Very good video, thanks, you need to let Molly drive more, get a big kick out of that !
What is a txv ? My brain is guessing thermal expansion valve. But im prolly way off. I watch these to learn bits and pieces as i have no clue about this field of work but am interested in joining the field.
Why are you pulling a vacuum through your gauges? Trublu hoses are much faster
Nice work
That compressor b dead next, put the homeowner to work if there just going to stand and watch, love it get me some tape!
Can’t pump scroll compressors down brotha
What makes you think that?
That’s all I pump down...
U cant pump reciprocating compressors damage happens when high side is closed scrolls are fine
Scroll compressors incorporate internal low vacuum protection and will stop pumping (unload) when the pressure ratio exceeds approximately 10:1. ... Which is a bad idea on any compressor
George Ian ... I agree 🤘
Give it a little gundy mama!
Good grief I had a 2 ton upstairs at my old house with a bigger return than that. Slasher install for sure.
you are so fuckin funny !!!! when you work i am pissing my self watching u lol eddie leak master
Good job
No clamp on txv umbilical Stevo to the rescue lol
Nice job and video
This is the first time i have seen a TXV valve on the outside of the unit, they are usually inside near the evaporator coil.
They r not always inside
Mine is on the outside of the coil.
My air conditioner is leaking water when on
coolkid 423 condensation line probably clogged
Blow out your condenser line
nvm it was my fan
coolkid 423 .....that doesn’t make any sense. Fans don’t leak water. If there is water coming out the fan, you got issues.
Nice ladder 🤣
👏👍
when the t xv fails in a car it is easy to spot wen the high and low dont normalize
I’m doubtful a car has a txv
steve it a leaker momma lol edbonjovi aka leak master plumbing in ct
It aint eazy bein cheezy
Just hold the contractor in!
No micron gauge
goodman dealer in your area must be a millonare
There are a ton of Goodmans hacked in. Thats most of the problem.
Hey, if you're serious about getting anyone a PT chart, I 'll take you up on the offer, I'm a beginner at the whole air conditioning technology and would appreciate it. Let me know?
Give it some dinosaur juice.
Indian truck sounds

What are thoseeeeee
That's the worst brazing I have ever seen who installed that the owners
Esas turcas d ellas válvulas quedaron flojas..
I don’t mean to piss on your parade ha ha .
