Forreal, I absolutely NEVER tell anyone I am vegan. But somehow, people ALWAYS just look at my plate and are like, "ew, what's wrong with you? Why is there no meat? Are you some weirdo vegan or something." Yes. I'm a weirdo who doesn't think animals should suffer needlessly and be locked in cages unnecessarily. Thanks for bringing it up at lunch 🤦♀️
Let them know that you are vegan, tell it proudly so the good ones will get the message and be vegan as well. Haters will hate anyway, they can't improve.
I worked the drilling rigs as a Vegan. Tried doing everything I could to hide that I was. Eventually we would get sent to camp and the cat would be let out of the bag. Their behaviour would flip the moment they found out. They’d go from promising me the next promotion to finding another place for me to work. Eventually, I had to take my experience elsewhere.
I don’t have it tatted on my forehead either. Lmfao. If I go out to eat it’s the people I’m with that are telling everyone, when I’m literally just ordering food/eating. 😅🤷🏻♀️
So around the 9th/10th minute, when you're talking about the purpose of these products is so that people can enjoy the taste of something they no longer consume whilst causing minimal animal harm...I really admire your patience in explaining such a simple concept to these fully grown adults...It's like, if a diabetic found a way to enjoy sweet things without putting sugar into their bodies. Mind blown!
There’s nothing left to say!! You said it all!! Loved your “rant” so MUCH!!! Absolutely wonderful!! It’s wrong and deep down they know it. It’s called guilt. 😘🙏🏼 Thank you.
I remember hearing about a study that showed that people who act like this about veganism actually have a lot of empathy, which seems wildly counterintuitive. But it's the fact that they actually DO know (despite acting like they don't understand) the consequences of eating meat and it DOES secretly bother them to think about animal suffering. But they can't handle the guilt so they lash out and shut themselves off from their own empathy to protect their fragile grasp of self-identity, which often revolves around traditional food and food culture. And when they accuse vegans of "acting like they're better than everybody else" it's because they KNOW there is a morally correct answer and they are actively not choosing that answer, which makes them feel bad about themselves, and then they lash out some more. Vegans are voicing aloud what their conscience is whispering, and that makes them feel like a "bad person". The irony is that those bad feelings aren't coming from the vegan's mouth, but inside the anti-vegan's own mind.
Yes, non vegans are obsessed with vegans because it's always my non vegan friends that bring up that I am vegan. This is another awesome video from the beautiful Rose and I think non vegans are a good reason to be vegan besides the ethical reasons just to annoy them. Love 🥰 the video and love 💕 Rose.
I've lost track of how many times my non-vegan friends make a big deal to the waiter at a restaurant and try to order for me and make it like I'm a little kid who doesn't know how to ask the cheese and mayonnaise to be left off of my garden burger. Rose made my day with this video.
7:44 Veganphobia is real and it is wrong. Thrilled to hear this young lady state, out loud, that animal liberation is the true goal of veganism. I hope she continues to talk about ethics and doesn’t back down even when the veganphobes attack. ❤
"and I despise many people" a common trend found amongst vegans and also the very reason why many non vegans look at your lot in disgust. overall vegans are very unhinged, judgemental and not exactly mentally stable on average.
You nailed the irony and vegan-directed abuse so hard! Thank you for making this video! I have no real vegan friends where I live and have to deal with this shite constantly alone, so this was really refreshing. ♥💚😍
Veganphobia is real and it is wrong. 😢 Being cruel to animals is one thing, but being cruel to those who try to defend them, is a whole other level of psychopathy. 🌀 I’m always happy, for the animals, to hear new vegans state out loud, that Animal Liberation is the true goal of veganism. ❤ I hope everyone continues to talk about ethics and doesn’t back down even when the veganphobes attack. 🐓🐖🐄🐑🐇 It is our moral duty to be “out of the closet” as vegans because the victims need us to share their stories. 🍏 If you imagine yourself as the one being harmed, wouldn’t you want someone to raise their voice to try to protect you? @ThatVeganTeacherRUclips it's so good to hear from you:') I completely agree and I struggle even mentioning I'm vegan just because of the way people are in this video. It's been a long time being vegan for me (7 years and strong) and this video made me cry because it made me remember why I felt so strongly about veganism in the beginning. I'm showing this video to my boyfriend hoping he goes vegan someday.
Thanks Rose, for the intelligent, truthful & entertaining rant. The hypocrisy, ridicule and projection of those bully animal eaters gets under my skin too. They repeat the same foolish comments I’ve heard hundreds of times, things that they’ve seen online and think are so clever and are going to catch vegans out 😅 I do street activism and hear the same ignorant comments over and over, just making themselves look stupid 🙄 The funniest are the ones that walk past and shout a silly comment back at you as they quickly walk away, not even able to stop and conduct a normal conversation 😄
I think they feel attacked, because we literally are attacking their habits, their choice, their lifestyle. It's understandable in that sense, but I have a really hard time grasping how they once they've seen what the animals go through, still can escape their own sense of right and wrong. Because most people don't think it's okay, they just don't have the support/strength to change.

There is no guilt. It's constantly being aggressive and hostile towards the omnivore community. If you're aggressive and hostile, do expect people to listen?
Vegans make up less than 1% of the entire population but to hear you triggered omnivores, they are on every street corner, under your beds, in your closets and banging on your doors "being hostile" lol. BS.
@@TheRealFry2024 Tbf all communities are in the wrong, some peoples are chill some are not We saw this during all human history and more recently with the Covid
I grew up vegetarian. I ate chicken and eggs when I got older. I went back and forth for years between vegetarian and eating some meat. I get grossed out by meat. One occasion a cow being slaughtered showed up on my Facebook newsfeed in 2019 and I was so devestated. Even though I never ate beef, I did consume a lot of dairy. I became a vegan that day. No back and forth. I do think meat is nasty. I'm used to people giving me shit because I got it my whole life being a vegetarian. People always got an opinion. I just smile at them or ignore the haters, even if they're family or friends. My life choices and beliefs are not up for debate. If someone asks me with genuine interest I will reply. Otherwise they can kiss my ass
Discovering immense delight in this. Everyone's ultimate goal to happiness is to live purposeful lives and tirelessly strive towards minimizing harm done to each other and the environment. Hence, it is crucial to let those weak spirited individuals who oppose veganism wallow alone and not let them drag you down. Investing our limited energy in attempting to reason with them will only lead to a detrimental impact on your own well-being. There is a limit to the negativity one can bear before it turns into an ongoing source of stress. Paving the way for a better life and future through our own actions implies leaving behind these wicked and cruel crowds.
I’m vegetarian (but sometimes eat vegan) and I have some friends who want to eat plant based but some friends always try to persuade me to eat meat or make fun of me and say that I’m unhealthy because of my diet. I’m not underweight because I’m vegetarian but people who no nothing about my health issues suddenly turn into experts and stubbornly think that I’m underweight and the reason for my health issues is because I don’t eat meat. I want a wedding where there’s only vegetarian food. I don’t want to pay for meat. Some people were talking about how I’m forcing my views on them…
Absolutely.. everytime I meet my friends, relatives, in laws.. They try to "joke" how not eating meat is so uncool.. and how they would force it down my throat.. you know "lovingly" or "jokingly". I have never.. never once in my life.. commented on people's food.. but they just somehow have right to just be rude and condescending..
You hit the nail on the head. Vegans have this reputation of constantly talking about being vegan and judging everyone else who isn’t. But in my experience, the omnivores in my life are the ones who constantly critique my diet, and I never say anything about theirs.
I became vegetarian for health but I'm also lactose intolerant and eggs give me a tummy ache and I'm allergic to wool so becoming vegan wasn't a giant leap and it feels good to not actively participate in harming animals so it's a big win for everyone. But a long time ago I told someone I was vegetarian for my health and they said "At least you're doing it for the right reasons" all I could think is "right reasons? Why would doing it for animals be the wrong reason?" Doing it for animals seems like a much better reason than just doing it for myself.
Love love your Vegan Talks. I so appreciate that you have a food channel but don’t forget to mention the animals. Multiple comments for extra engagement btw.
AWESOME video Rose ! My own family berates me too, telling me that I'm cutting my life short, blah, blah, blah! Heaven forbid that they should do a little research, or actually open a book like The China Study ( the most comprehensive study ever done on the link between nutrition and disease). Oh no.....They could never do that....they might discover the truth ......Morons .... Thank you for posting this Rose. You nailed it .
My beloved late mother told me veganism was a fad, yet she got sucked into trying a carnivore diet in her nineties after watching a bunch of RUclips videos and wrecked her health irrevocably. Died of a bowel obstruction. 😢

I haven’t often watched you have a chat as such and I have to say you cracked me up 😂😂😂 but at the same time, that was so brilliantly explained, I often have to defend what I eat, even though I don’t say a damned word about what the accusers eat!!

I had a non vegan purposely lie saying the food was vegan. I ended up getting super sick and was pretty upset when I found out it wasn't vegan. They told me so many times it was. I learn to just make my own and minimize eating around other non vegans. It just better that way❤

Facebook is a pool of disgust, I can't even do anything on it but photo dump, maybe post an update on life, then bounce. I don't even stick around to see what happens.
Omg this video was so funny! 😂 I love your passion and your sarcasm! I am not a vegan or vegetarian, I've watched a few of your videos in the past to learn new ways of cooking. Just the other day I wanted to try and cook tofu, so I watched your tofu video and I cooked some delicious crispy tofu thanks to you. I personally don't care if people are vegan. The only time I get worried is if I were to cook for a vegan... But that has never happened. I remember I offered my vegan friend once, (first person and time I think I had heard of vegan) a taste of my frittata coz it was delicious.. I was like it doesn't have meat, she giggled and said that it has egg. Lol my bad. One thing that did annoy me about a group of vegans locally was they destroyed a local business. They stole his goats and hid the goats in a house for a few weeks. They would also trash his farming equipment. That wasn't cool and not good living quarters for the poor goats. But I agree with you, with you eating that vegan salmon... If it were me, I'd probably look at it and think it looks like salmon I've seen on cartoons and keep on scrolling. So I hope you know that not all meat eaters are rude or inconsiderate. 😅 Keyboard warriors are the worst. You seem like a tough chick, so I would say, 'stay Strong' but I don't think you need to be reminded 🤗
The world needs more people like you Rose. I tell people that we eat a vegan diet at our house. I figure we get this meat culture shoved in our face at every turn so why not give it a little push back. This goes so much deeper than food or nutrition. They see it as a threat to their way of life. It is about comfort zones and being part of an accepted norm despite the fact that it is harming living creatures. I'm not a lifelong vegan but I am now. I've only know a few who have never eaten animals in their lifetime. For me better late than never. Keep doing your good work. Thank you!
😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣 I totally feel you…. There were once someone call Nancy overheard that I’m vegan 🌱 so she’s curious and came over asked me what do I eat in a daily basis , then suddenly the owner of the house Linda said “ no ! Don’t talk about that in my house 🏡 “ I was like …. Talk about what ?! She’s the one came to me ask me first …. Where the aggressive attitude from 😅😅😅😅😅 That’s why I never show up at Linda’s house ever again I don’t need that kind of vibe in my life
I'm so sorry this happened to you. You're so right about how hard it is to be a vegan, because of how vegans get treated. And because the coultures we grew up in are hard to give up - and I wouldn't wish anyone would have to give up their coulture to make a difference/be an activist/be sustainable. I'm part of an eco-lifestyle whatsapp group and many of us are vegan (but not all of us). People share knock-off recipes of traditional foods all the time. That's the way it should be! Also did you know, that many meat and dairy recipies used to be plant-based in the past, when animal products were less available? It's not 'normal' that animal products are so available and in everything nowadays. It's part of our overconsumeristic coulture. Sure people need the nutrients that are found in animal products, but the scale is just ridiculous. There is nothing wrong with getting those nutrients elsewhere. If you eat less meat it is a service to society at this point. Even if you can't do it, there's this person who can - a vegan - who looks out for us. People should appreciate what vegans do in stead of being horrible to them. I think veganism should be treated like a religion. Not because it's superstitial, but because people respect religions generally and understand how a religion's beliefs and values impact a person's life. Generally people don't mock people's religious diets and are generally civil about different aspects. Of course there is harrassment for different religions and some aspects and religions get more of this kind of hate. But the general concencus is, at least where I'm from, that it's wrong.
They also get their back up ... with a huge attitude....so tired of being attacked by family and friends, who are so concerned with me not wanting to consume cruelty.
Thankfully most people I talk to that found out I am vegan are pretty chill. They do ask questions, but more in a curious way... the worst thing they constantly say is "they should stop trying to make vegan versions of X, it puts people off when they try it and then will never go vegan..." Online it is a much different story, though. People seem to NEED to find something and dump on it, so they can feel better about their state. This just doesn't apply to food choices, unfortunately.
The first 7 mins are ME!! Whhyyyy do they do this. It’s wild. I always have someone talking at me about stuff they clearly don’t know much about. I really need to stop being bothered by it. Cuz it’s their own ignorance :/
I remember that taste test video. I bought products because of what you said. … what made you think to look back on facebook comments about that video? also… when are facebook comments ever anything but indignant, obsessive, anger?
How do you respond when no vegans talk about all the animals that are killed to grow our vegetables? I stopped eating avocados and almonds because of the harm done.
I just made a video about it. I have had stints of trying many times and recently had the worst falling out of it experience I ever have. I think that some vegans don’t have kind views about the old ways of sacrificial meat eating. I have a motto that I just made up and it rings “don’t get in the way of my vegan thistle flower rennet sh*t” or “don’t get in the way of my vegan glacé yew aril making or I hope the seeds fall in your tea” it’s all joke and it’s from Scottish folklore related, but it funnily relates to vegan things in a punny way. My opinion is a lot funnier as someone that actually enjoys moral veganism as a concept than hardcore carnivores that spend all day making fun of vegans. The stuff I have to say “against vegans” isn’t even against, it’s actually asking for changes in the views within the community. I do believe that sacrificial meat eating still holds a place for some and that the vegan does better in speaking well of gathering animal products in the kindest ways possible like in old traditions where it was sacrificial and a big enough deal. I also believe lots of vegans consume fossil fuels or they support that Elon Musk and that basically even E.V. Is part of that conversation. Resistance really is futile and I think my views about veganism are really interesting and not the vegan’s cup of tea usually even though it should ideally result in my own veganism. It’s almost like wishing that you can look good in society so much that you wish ill upon another and put stuff in their way that is against your morality and so therefore you’re part of what’s putting it in the universe.
I wonder if its guilt making them attack us. Always bling us for not taking care of us self or children, some even thinking its abuse. Makes me so sad, if they would have been a day in a produce animals life, theyd know.
0:05 Luckily I haven’t been berated yet for being a vegan. But i honestly don’t care if it does happen. I only bring it up when I see my doctors. I like to make sure my supplements are working. Also, when I go to a family or friends home. That is just to make sure I have something to eat❣️
As a nonvegan I always check out the egg/milk/meat substitute videos as technology is always getting better and they might come up with something that is really good someday. It's not there yet but I don't rule it out so I leave the door open on these alternatives. The best hope I have is for lab grown meat but I have doubts about how far they can scale it up so I still hope plant based substitutes can be successful as well. Right now though, it is really hard to try out new things as the cost of food is so high. Most people do not have the margin in their budget to start spending on alternatives.
Best of luck on your journey. :) IF you're interested there are so many great YT videos to help with healthy recipes that are easy and taste delicious. 💛
There are plenty of videos here on YT that include the "technology" LOL. Just try it out...last night I sautéed cabbage, roasted veggies, and fried okra and eggplant using Almond milk. Just an idea, try not to overthink it. Just takes a lil more prep but worth it. Good luck to you!❤
Lets say that the vegan salmon tastes almost as good as the cruelty version, do you think taking someone's life, their whole existence from them is worth that little bit of extra taste pleasure you receive.
@@Simon-Smith. I can only speak for myself but "almost as good" has not been reached yet. If the tech ever reaches that point I would agree with you. As I said, lab meat holds the most potential. Time will tell whether they can produce it at the volumes needed.
going vegan has nothing to do with cultured meat or any sort of culinary technological innovation. using that as a half-baked excuse to continue your consumption of animal flesh and secretions is ridiculous. the plant-based alternatives on the market are already much more healthy and cheaper than their animal-derived counterparts.
People don't like being faced with the reality that something so central and enjoyable to their life has a really dark side, so they get disproportionately defensive the second they might have to think about it, even if it's something as benign as seeing someone order a dish with no animal products in it. And I will say, I don't mind when people ask me questions, but I'd really love it if people would stop making weird excuses and apologies for what they're eating. Just eat the stuff you want to eat and stop being weird with me about it!
Plus we do not tell people what to eat, we tell people what veganism is and we educate, just incase there are some of us who need to hear this because they might have ethical values that would make them vegan. I used to be a heavy meat eater, and if I would not have realized what I was doing, I would have continued. I am glad there were people to make me see and reflect on my values. Before I was just a robot of society, now I am who I want to be as an ethical person.
23:46 - Yeah, totally. Our mere existence makes people feel guilty. And I will confess that I was hostile to vegetarians for years (wasn't really aware of veganism back then) and no doubt it was the same for me.
Many people that go vegetarian or vegan don’t do it because they don’t like meat/fish. They do it because they want to eat healthier. I’ve been Vegan for approximately 19 years. I love meat but don’t want to eat it for health reasons and also after seeing and reading how the slaughter of animals is done, I will never eat meat again! If I can enjoy a Hamburger without killing an animal, I’m all for it. There are so many plant base foods that mimic meat or fish and are healthy for you. I never say I’m vegan, when I go out I just eat around what is been served. I don’t fuss nor allow anyone to fuss over my diet. Vegan menus are just as good as non vegan menus. I have to say when most people know I’m vegan they always react! Almost as if their nose goes up! Why?
@veganaktivisten Empathy is an extremely popular word. A word we are all encouraged to treat with great reverence and overuse at every opportunity (the way neurotypicals tend to use it makes me think they get a check everytime it passes their lips). But in addition to being a word one is highly encouraged to use, it is not an encouraged practice; quite the opposite. Showing empathy is a bad thing. It marks one as a degenerate weirdo worthy only of scorn. So by all means, use the word empathy. Use as often as possible. A hundred times per sentence if you can, but never NEVER under any circumstances must you give it meaning.
My personal opinion is that for many of them, when they see that these products exist, they don’t really have much of an excuse other than they just don’t want to make the change. And for those that may feel guilty, because they know that deep down it doesn’t align with their values, they lash out because that is easier and more comfortable than to be honest with themselves about how their actions don’t align with their values. Others are just ignorant and stubborn and stuck in their ways.

Totally agree with @BrayMcKenziePro's comment - cognitive dissonance. Makes me feel very empowered for all of us who have decided to make decisions in our lives that align with our personal ethical values. It's not always an easy thing for some of us, myself included, to build willpower when we first decide to transition to a vegan lifestyle but if we're fortunate enough to be in the position to choose between living a vegan lifestyle or not, I'm happy that I made the choice that supports what I personally feel is right.
Yes! When I ate meat I always felt guilty and wished I could be vegetarian! But I didn't go around criticizing vegetarians. I'm glad I can now say my actions are better aligned with my values. It took a long time but it is worth it!
Well said, Rose! Why are people going to “CHEAP LAZY VEGAN” channel and bitching about vegans? 😂 I think you cussed more in this than every other video combined! 😂 Thank you for being a passionate voice for the voiceless. 🤗

Honestly more people mention that I'm vegan more than I ever do. I just tell people no if offered anything I can't eat then someone next to me saying "he's vegan." Then I'm forced to hear someone say "oh I could never be vegan."
I'm not a vegan, but I eat a mostly vegan diet (I sometimes eat seafood and eggs). But even though I'm not totally vegan, people still act weird and defensive about my diet. Even though I never expect anyone to cater to me, never tell anyone they should change their lifestyle, nothing. I honestly think it's because people are pre-defensive because they feel like they are going to be judged, and I think deep down, many people know they should be eating healthier, making more environmentally conscious decisions, and not supporting unethical factory farming. So really their reaction is ALL about them and their insecurities, and nothing to do with us. But it is still so, so annoying.
So well said Rose. A+. I tell EVERYONE that I’m vegan. I don’t give a Shit what they think. I stand up for Vegans and animals. I don’t go to protests but I’m vegan. Been vegan for 12 years and LOVE it. The only one I “preach” to is my sister but it falls on deaf ears. Love your channel Rose. Love you 🥰 Keep up the great work ❤

As you said, they know what they are supporting and defending, and to have someone remind you that you participate in animal cruelty is enough of a trigger to attack that person rather than their own actions. GREAT VIDEO, WOULD LOVE TO SEE MORE LIKE THESE FROM YOU.
And just think about all the food commercials... Pizza, burgers, etc. We are having it pushed at us contantly - Can you imagine their reaction if just for one day, all of those commercials were for vegan foods instead? 😂😂😂😂
Thank you for this video it’s so true the social isolation is wild. My husbands uncle asked why are you vegan? And when I explained for animal rights and climate change this old guy went psycho. Annoying AF. Thank you for the video and shout out to everyone trying to make the world a less cruel place.❤
Lol. My FIL asked me, and I said I’ve always been one of those people who feel others’ feelings, so when I eat meat I feel the animals pain, and it just feels gross. He kinda looked at me and said, “Mm. That makes sense”. Everyone at the table, including my partner, went quiet for a minute. I guess it wasn’t what they expected.
Had an office xmas lunch at a restaurant that has a huge menu and it literally didn't have a single dish without animal products. That's virtually unheard of in my city. I had to pick a dish and ask them not to include XYZ and it ended up being pretty terrible. It's sooo easy to make delicious vegan dishes. It's actually easier than dealing with meat. Up your game, restaurants.
Yeah, I remember going to an Indian restaurant with colleagues - it was all either greasy food to the nines, or animal based food. They failed major league at attempting something even remotely healthy. Sadly, this is modern dining people. No wonder people don't understand healthy vegan alternatives.
Co-workers ask me every year why I don’t go to the work Christmas lunch, and tell me what I missed the next day. They don’t know I’m vegan, but they know I’m vegetarian. Yet, they can’t understand why I wouldn’t want to eat at a steak house or BBQ restaurant. I called ahead to the one they picked this year and they had nothing vegan friendly and only two options that were vegetarian friendly. I would have had to tell them to “hold the meat,” on the salad. They told me they could have used olive oil instead of butter on the potato skins, if I gave them three days notice. I skipped the party as usual. That’s fine, I don’t miss the lunches. It’s just having to explain why I don’t go that is annoying.

When people ask Doug Graham's wife why she's vegan/plant based she says "because I want to". Cause she knows nonvegans might be hostile to veganism or she doesn't want to get into arguments. She's also kind of speaking nonvegans' language cause often people are nonvegans just cause they want to and for taste.
I grew up in Texas, need I say more with my choice of not eating meat and how I received comments and questions daily. It isn't easy, I never preach to others. I do it for myself in knowing I'm doing my best to minimize harm. I love that we have plant based options so we actually don't feel left out. Thanks for the rant, it was cathartic to hear you. 😊
I completely understand Rose. A good friend of mine posted a joke meme about the best BBQ being in North Carolina. People commented about the best pulled pork, etc. I so badly wanted to comment about the recent documentary The Smell of Money. It’s about the pork industry in NC and the environmental issues it’s caused. But I refrained from commenting. It’s so hard when friends and family make little jokes at our expense. I get accused of being too sensitive or not being able to take a joke.
You nailed it!!! I'm about as far away from the "vegan stereotype" as it gets. I've been vegan almost 4 yrs now. For me it's just about the animals. It wasn't a gradual change, within about 3 months of going vegetarian, I went vegan immediately after passing through a dairy farm town on a work trip. It was almost over night for me because I've become so sensitive to animal suffering "caused by people". I actually couldn't watch your whole video because of some footage, but thank you for speaking up. I've since become so tuned out of the world because it's almost ALL negativity. People suck. We are incredibly selfish and I hate it. Including myself accountable just as much as anyone else. I lost someone who I thought was a best friend because of it. And it was HIM bringing it up when he'd see me eat something plant based etc. Saying stuff like, " well I'd take a baseball bat to some baby seals if I had to eat in Antarctica". Like WTF does that even have to do with your life, or mine. Why say some crazy scenario for no reason? That night I told him to stay tf away from me. I am not a violent person anymore, but I'm just done man. I may be more alone now, but the beautiful creatures on this planet deserve better. BTW, my main channel is @dogflirt & I love your content. ✌🖤
Not to mention, there are a LOT of ethnic dishes from all over the world, that are what I call "accidentally vegan" LOL - AMAZING TASTE & healthy AF (although there are def ways to be unhealthy vegan haha)
no, what triggers them is the attitude of most vegans. just look at the comments made by vegans in this comment section . so many are elated in "annoying" their non vegan associates and love being judgemental whilst being extremely bigoted pricks.
I love being vegan among non-vegan friends and family. They feel guilty around me all the time without me having to say a single thing. So dear Rose ... be proud as you are shaking and rattling a few omnivore/carnivore cages and they dont like it.
Right?? Its so ridiculous how blatant their guilt is. They always go on and on how they don't actually eat that much meat and want to do better because they know our more existence is calling out their immoral behavior.

The issue with this is that veganism can seem very elitist. People who don't necessarily look younger, prettier than the avarage person, are overweight or have chronic illnesses can feel like second class vegans and not welcome in the community. We come in all shapes and sizes. Let's leave those shallow statements at the door.
Yeah, when I was 39, I had a 20 y/o girlfriend and people thought we were both mid/late 20s. She was a vegan also, though not for long. People try to attribute my youthfulness to being vegan, but the truth is, it's just my genetics. Being vegan might slow the aging process, but it's not a huge factor for me, because I still eat like shit as a vegan 😅
Love your rant. It is so true! We took some spaghetti to a potluck once, made with an alternative meat product. A friend who hated our veganism took some and was enjoying it...until he saw we were eating it and realized it had no meat. He promptly pushed it away and stopped eating it! (Yes, we had labelled it as vegan, we weren't trying to 'fool' anyone. He must have missed the label.)

I love your rant. I grew up with this kind of behavior and it was even before facebook and other social media existed. My sister and I stopped eating animal products and the next couple of years, we had to spend Christmas by ourselves. We were not even welcome in our own family. The social isolation is a real problem. Even today, as a grown up, I get treated badly for being Vegan. I was at a 40 year birthday party. It was my bf´s cousin turning 40. I only knew 3 people out of the 80-90 people, who were there. I brought my own food, because that is much easier and I knew, I would get something to eat. I ended up being the center of attention because of my “weird” food. My bf´s uncle kept attacking me for not eating meat and telling me how much he loved meat. It gets really really exhausting
Your channel is one that I share most frequently with new vegans or anyone curious about plant-based eating because I know you’ll help them understand what it’s all about while they learn to cook easy, delicious food. Thank you!
I've been depressed lately and I am skipping all holiday celebrations this year because I can't go through another dinner where I have to bring my entire meal and eat it while one of my aunts pretends to dry heave while I am eating. I have never once pretended to dry heave while they eat hotdogs or fried fish.

Honestly, fuck your family, they clearly aren't putting any effort into being inclusive of your needs and beliefs. I'm not even vegan, I'm just a picky eater because of texture issues, and I feel excluded any time people who obviously know my limitations specifically choose not to make any accommodations. Like they don't gotta change everything they're doing, just make something to make you feel welcomed and loved and be respectful about it.
Trying to become vegan, I definitely get odd looks and dumb questions… non vegan eaters look at vegans crazy…but choose to eat process and disgusting food at the same time! Like make it make sense! 😂😂
Sometimes I think it’s just meat industry hired trolls that write these comments. My little conspiracy theory haha. I eat 90% whole food plant based with occasional vegan impossible chicken nuggets or burger for fun. Just like the non vegans who eat junk food once in a while.
Sorry, that is very unlikely. The agriculture and pharmaceutical industry has far more power and money behind it to promote veganism or "plant based" diets or products. Meat has existed as a primary human food for 200,000 years. Not an "industry".
@@steviacandyman7892 Lmao, look at the endless commercials pushing animal products. And you think veganism is pushed on society with huge financial backing? As if.

Today I took a part in a silent protest for carp, because in the Czech Republic we eat them for Christmas. People laughed at us and took pictures of us. I felt like an idiot, but then I remembered it is not about our egos, it is for the few people who start to question their diet when they see the disgusting pictures. At least that is how it happened for me.. people just dont think about it.. So stay strong, it does matter. I just now had such feelings that it is lost and people just dont care, but I came here and I see there are people in the world who do care and are not afraid to take responsibility.
Ive been vegan for 8 years (and flesh free since 13 years) and just wish I had done it sooner! I enjoy this lifestyle so much! However, it does make it hard to find a husband lol I find that eating with omnivores, when it becomes a daily thing, is just not soothing for me.
Im not a vegan (Im a vegetarian) but always make a habit of calling out these "vegan haters" when I see the ignorant crap they post on vegan posts. Worst part is they keep posting the same dumb crap over and over thinking they are hurting vegans when all they are doing is outting themselves for being giant douche bags
"eat some grass and shut up", "what you need is a juicy steak", "funny how they dont like meat but make their food look like it" are just a few, along with posting dumb anti vegan memes, pics of them with an animal they just shot or of steak they are about to eat. Its just immature and ignorant. Many of these posts are on vegan recipe videos not anything regarding activism so their insulting attacks are unprovoked as well. I think the animal-ag industry has invested a lot in propaganda on facebook over the years. It's a nest of ignorance and bullying at this point. We need to be more active on there honestly.
😂😂😂😂
I'm a normal 120lbs at 5'4", but emaciated when they find out I'm vegan. lol
Mind blown!
if i had a dime for the number of times I've had to explain this to grown adults!!!
It really isn't a new concept! Sugar free syrup? Mocktails? Zero carb noodles? Lactose free milk even???
There’s nothing left to say!! You said it all!! Loved your “rant” so MUCH!!! Absolutely wonderful!! It’s wrong and deep down they know it. It’s called guilt. 😘🙏🏼 Thank you.
thank you!!
Well said 👍
Yes, non vegans are obsessed with vegans because it's always my non vegan friends that bring up that I am vegan.

"and I despise many people"
a common trend found amongst vegans and also the very reason why many non vegans look at your lot in disgust. overall vegans are very unhinged, judgemental and not exactly mentally stable on average.

Subscribing in case you post some videos of your street activism. I find those really inspiring!
One of the reasons I left Facebook, years ago. Childish trolls felt the constant need to harass me over being vegan

Maybe the guilt factor comes out when they see us vegans thriving but they can’t take a simple step to consume less animal products
BS.

You're the best. It is so exhausting sometimes but the animals are worth it. Keep shining your light!!! Love your recipes, too!❤

Thank you!

I was like …. Talk about what ?! She’s the one came to me ask me first …. Where the aggressive attitude from 😅😅😅😅😅
That’s why I never show up at Linda’s house ever again
I don’t need that kind of vibe in my life
This is one of the reasons I quit social media.
You make a ton of great points in this video! Especially in the last 4 1/2 mins. I enjoyed this.
But the general concencus is, at least where I'm from, that it's wrong.
it's the worst form of projecting. Their guilt makes them feel like your video is judging them. You can't win because it's really not about you.
They also get their back up ... with a huge attitude....so tired of being attacked by family and friends, who are so concerned with me not wanting to consume cruelty.
Thankfully most people I talk to that found out I am vegan are pretty chill. They do ask questions, but more in a curious way... the worst thing they constantly say is "they should stop trying to make vegan versions of X, it puts people off when they try it and then will never go vegan..."
Online it is a much different story, though.
Being rude for a personal choice in food is always wrong. It goes both ways.

So true. I will eat what I want they can eat what the want. Where can I get vegan salmon?
Love to you Rose. Thank you.

Before I was just a robot of society, now I am who I want to be as an ethical person.
ugh i love you. yes to it all. clowns. if you're arguing against veganism, you're literally arguing for animal cruelty. not cute.
23:46 - Yeah, totally. Our mere existence makes people feel guilty. And I will confess that I was hostile to vegetarians for years (wasn't really aware of veganism back then) and no doubt it was the same for me.
Most of the times they don't even know many vegans in real life
JIM, WHY DO YOU CARE?! 🤣🤣🤣
Why?
I cant stop myself from reading the anti-vegan trolls comments. It's really bad for my health hahahaha.
I was waiting for the F BOMB......Good for you....that would have been my only response to those KARENS.
Very nice video
Bring up a meat alternative, and everyone loses their minds.
Bring up a sugar substitute, and “I’m on a diet, it’s okay”
Make it make sense
That's because one entails ethics, in which they are basically saying "YOU are doing wrong if you eat this or that".
@@Mondomeyer Same with the word "humane/humanely" 😩

@@veganaktivisten nailed it. Ethics and information gnawing away at thousands of years of ignorance and indoctrination.
Yep, it's largely defensiveness.

Lol right? Like why are they actively going out of their way to consume vegan content if they hate vegans?
Honestly more people mention that I'm vegan more than I ever do. I just tell people no if offered anything I can't eat then someone next to me saying "he's vegan." Then I'm forced to hear someone say "oh I could never be vegan."
LOL yes I made a skit about how it's the vegan's FRIENDS that always tell people their friend is vegan.... not the actual vegan themselves UGH
@@CheapLazyVeganSo true!
I think you summed it up very well.
Can relate. Once my friend heard I bought plant based chicken he lost his shit and didn’t stop talking about it for almost a week.

As you said, they know what they are supporting and defending, and to have someone remind you that you participate in animal cruelty is enough of a trigger to attack that person rather than their own actions.
GREAT VIDEO, WOULD LOVE TO SEE MORE LIKE THESE FROM YOU.
thank you so much! will do more : )
And just think about all the food commercials... Pizza, burgers, etc. We are having it pushed at us contantly - Can you imagine their reaction if just for one day, all of those commercials were for vegan foods instead? 😂😂😂😂
I can imagine!!!! It would be badass!!
I think they would implode 😂
You don't have to imagine. You can look at the nonvegan bullying comments about vegan ads. For example, they called it propaganda.
Thank you for this video it’s so true the social isolation is wild. My husbands uncle asked why are you vegan? And when I explained for animal rights and climate change this old guy went psycho. Annoying AF. Thank you for the video and shout out to everyone trying to make the world a less cruel place.❤
yeh, i dont believe in climate change, that is political. But the animals....
I just say “If I don’t have the nerve to kill it I won’t eat it or wear it!”
B/c you cited very real problems and he felt called out b/c you’re doing something about it and he’s exacerbating it.
it's so crazy that you care about animals and the climate! LOL
UGH i totally feel your pain!!!
yeah sad there is no more vegan options but probably because that not what will bring them the more money they overlook it
I always remind people who ask me questions "why I am vegan" if they really want the answer because I will give it to them.

ugh it really sucks!!! absolutely, the new plant based options help in many ways. thank you for listening : )

The last phrase was beautifully timed!
