    It's cool that the RCM reached out to you. I really like the gold Maple and I need more of them however it's hard to shake my love for Britannias and Kangaroos. There is a credible case to be made for the Maple to be the most utilitarian gold coin on a global level.

    I'm in Europe and over here the price difference between a Maple and an American 1oz. coin (doesn't matter if Eagle or Buffalo) is quite high. When you need to sell them, though, you generally get Spot for any of these coins. Added to the fact that the Maple is stunning, I think it's a no brainer which gold coin I typically go for. ;)

      You're spot on, pun intended, except that I find the Maple Leaf boring on one side and just offensive on the other. The best you will get for selling any sovereign coin is spot price so why pay extra b/c you have a sentimental attachment to it's national origin or a pretty picture? Personally, I don't want to see a picture of some dead overlord stamped into my investment. Soon Bidet will want his picture on our sovereigns and paper. :(

    Being in the US my preference is Maples, due to pricing, and AGE's. Those two are go-to's, always. I'm also a fan of quarter and half-ounce commemoratives (thinking confiscation there). That having been said, I have various others, Pandas, Swans, Krugs, etc., because I lucked into a price right at spot. I think Britannia's are probably the most appealing of all of them, just haven't lucked into one yet. American gold buffalos are flat-out ugly and, since they cost more, they're never on my shopping list.

They've got purity (9999), liquidity (internationally buyable and sellable), security features (potentially the best security features currently available), design (even though King Chuckles will be on commonwealth coins going forward) and decently priced premium over spot (unlike some coins whose mint puts in the bare minimum effort in on all these categories but demand high premium over spot 🙄).

      Watch spot drop and the dragons get more expensive. With the lunars you have to buy em when they’re available. Nice pickup I grabbed some also

    I love maple leafs, can't wait to get a 1oz coin but I'll stack 10ths. I noticed the Philharmonics are the thickest 1/10 I kinda figured maples would be thicker. Both are 24K but the maples have that deeper, honey toned gold.

    I like phillies on which they don't put an effigy of a foreign potentate on the back of the coin. Canada still feels like a small child looking affectionately to their mom, the UK. Austria is a grown-up in this case.

    Southeastern US. I have been stacking since the beginning of the century, and I have bought exclusively gold maples. My reason for choosing RCM was a weird idea that honestly wasn’t well-thought through, but once I made the choice I never changed and have not bought anything else (except a few British sovereigns as gifts for people). The reason was I somehow thought that the US government would keep a record of my eagles and buffalos, and that would make it easier for them to confiscate my gold if someday they decided to do that again! Yeah, I know that’s far fetched, but that’s what I thought at the time. I didn’t know about the 25 coin reporting thing at the time, and let’s just say I’m in deep enough that it could come up (but now that I know about it, it surely won’t!). Unlikely to stack anything else at this point.

      If the coin is legal currency does it technically still belong to the country of origin? And does melting it down constitute the crime of defacement just as ripping up a bill is defacement?

    I just struggle not buying American. I just need to get over that, I guess. So far, I own all buffalos (0ksy, one one Scottsdale but it’s still American). Perhaps I need to buy a maple today to make up for the Buffalo I bought last Sunday after the international market opened. lol.

    ahhhhh finally did the maple video. I know its sponsored, but do another one lol. If you remember me, I've been saying the four 9's maples are the way to go in all respects. Even the con isn't really a con if you visit multiple coin shops in one day. My only regret is that I didn't know about gold sooner. Got in at the 1600+ ranges 😭 ( Other wise I'd have a pirates treasure chest full by now 🤣🤣 )

    2009 Double Eagle for the win. Got a route for the Home team, even though it has some cons against it diameter size and high premiums, but aesthetically, arguably the best looking coin of recent mintage.

    My first and currently only 1oz coin is the 2023 maple. Was an easy choice for me as I love the design of the maple leaf, the 2023 one has the Elizabeth's dates queen, maples probably got the best security feature, it was the cheapest one,and it's of course also 24k and one of the most popular coins (which would help if id have to sell in a pinch).

    I love the Maple leaf and I stack silver Leafs. But as for gold, being a stacker with limited resources and since I live in Eastern Europe, I stick to Austrian Ducats, Austro-Hungarian florins and 20 golden Francs/Napoleon III. As for the best looking coin, I would actually go with Britannia, but that's just my personal aesthetic preference.

  • @thomasdc2439
    @thomasdc2439 7 месяцев назад

    I'm from Europe and I go with Britannia Coins. They have low premium, high security and they look great in my opinion. But I have to admin, I love the design of the American buffalos. They have a raw and pure character for me. They are not as refined and modern looking as Britannia. I love that.
    With silver coins is a bit different for me. Because they are cheaper, I try to get a high variety of different coins. Just to enjoy the different designs.

    I consider the Canadian Maple Leaf to be one of the very best gold coins as well. An important factor is certainly the cool iconic design and purity but also the security features. The security features of the current Britannias are superior to that of the Maple Leaf in my humble opinion but the design of of the Maple Leaf has always made it a top class coin even in the past. My first Maple Leafs were minted back in 1987. At that time only the Australian Nugget would be a match while the first issues of the Britannia only had 22k purity and weren't even a match for the Krugerrand, in my opinion.

    • @2is1gold
      @2is1gold  7 месяцев назад

    I have a Gold Maple leaf 2023, but what I don't like about them is their size compared to other 1 oz coins. Personally I like stacking the Britannia's more, I'd stack the buffalo's but the premium on them is to high where I'm from.
