Every song doesn’t have to bang your brains out or be massively overproduced, this is arguably one of their best tracks, understated but hits home in other ways.
I hate overproduced Music. example, 1 of my favourite band is The Rolling Stones. Exile mainstream so over produced. Doesn’t matter about singing/playing is.
Amber, you said you like deep songs,, songs where you can dig a little bit. I would love for you guys give "invisible sun" a chance. I think its one of their more underrated songs. It by no means a fun, light song. It touches on the condition of the world and the seemingly neverending bombings in Northern Ireland. And the video that goes with it perfectly matches the song.
Initially hearing this song (way back in '81), I wasn't sure about it. But the more I listened the more my appreciation grew --- Soon becoming a permanent fixture in my rotation of favorite Police songs.
To me, the message Sting is conveying is that we are bigger spirits than this material world. Like the material world gives us a narrow point of view but if we can find a bigger consciousness, with spirituality and vision, we'll be able to see beyond the petty and our little problems that we create.
Lyrics: [Verse 1] There is no political solution To our troubled evolution Have no faith in constitution There is no bloody revolution [Chorus] We are spirits in the material world Are spirits in the material world We are spirits in the material world Are spirits in the material world [Verse 2] Our so-called leaders speak With words they try to jail you They subjugate the meek But it's the rhetoric of failure [Chorus] We are spirits in the material world Are spirits in the material world We are spirits in the material world Are spirits in the material world [Verse 3] Where does the answer lie? Living from day to day If it's something we can't buy There must be another way [Chorus] We are spirits in the material world Are spirits in the material world We are spirits in the material world Are spirits in the material world We are spirits in the material world Are spirits in the material world We are spirits in the material world Are spirits in the material world
This one is one of my favorite Police songs! The music alone is just sublime! Driving at night listening to this - 👌 👄🤌 If you want a more upbeat you should give a listening Canary in a Colemine or Synchronicity II. ☺️
One of the best Police songs they have...Jay, you have to listen to it more than once. It takes awhile to grow on you.....The lyrics comment on the nature of man's existence and the failure of his earthly institutions.
Hey...they went out on top! And Stewart Copeland is a very underrated percussionist! His drums have a very unique sound because of how tight he "tunes" them.
"Dark reggae", such a great way of putting it. This song has always been intensely melancholic for me. Interesting when you just read the lyrics on their own, classic Sting statement. As a teenager this music was exercising the darkness of cold war reality. (I'm from Au). Love you two, such a great channel. #_#
Alright my babies.....Yall' are giving the people what they want ‼️ The intellect in the songwriting is impeccable, in my opinion. I remember I had to listen to the song a couple of times back in the 80s to really sink in to it. 💯🔥😎👍🏼
I totally agree. But this tune does have keyboards dubbed over it. This version sounds different than I remember it. If hazard a guess that it's been remixed.
Sting was an English teacher before he joined The Police, and because of his background as a teacher I always loved his lyrics in so much of his music. He's always been a gifted lyricist in my opinion, because his ideas and storytelling in some songs were unique and no one else was doing that in the 80's. To me there are very few singer/songwriters at his level.
The Police are probably my favorite band ever. I have to admit I am a little disappointed in Jay for not pointing out Sting's bass here. I think it absolutely slaps! Only a little disappointed. 😉 Love you guys!!
Yes!!! I have to disagree with Jay here. This was my introduction to the Police. I first heard this in Paris on a high school trip in ‘82. The ‘80s were a decade of rampant materialism. You should check out Don’t Stand so Close to Me, one of my first 45 RPMs. Sting was, In real life, an English teacher for awhile. I think this is based on a true story. His sophisticated songwriting is evidence of his academic training. Another one for you is King if Pain, off Synchronicity..
I'm sorry, but Jay's taste in music and his quick dismissal of many of my all-time favorites are turning me off to your channel. I may not be back. Once again, I'm sorry because I've enjoyed your channel for quite a long time now. Take care. 🙂
The bar uses an applause meter, that is why it is so important that you all come and applaud only for my band, Scrantonicity II-- NOT Scrantonicity, which I am no longer a part of! 🤣🤣🤣
Don’t know why Invisible Sun is their most underrated song, it is hardly mentioned, and it’s my 2nd favorite song by them. I think it was banned in England to play on air over the radio.
It’s a pretty deep song. It’s about the corruption of the material, or physical world (money, politics, etc.) and how we’re spirits in this material world. We’re souls, light beings, spirits, what have you, and we *should* be beyond the trials and tribulations (and corruption) of the physical/material world. The final lyric before the reprise of the chorus in the outro is, “There must be another way.”
I like the fact that you will say "I'm not feeling it." You're both so positive about so many songs so much of the time, hearing that you don't enjoy a song makes things more real.
Also, think of how many songs you’ve heard that didn’t grab you on first listen but did eventually. In my case, it’s a lot! Even with songs from my favourite artists.
My parents had a vacation playlist on cassette when I was a kid in the 80s. We'd drive halfway across the country to visit my dad's mom every summer and the tapes were always brought. It was police greatest hits, Sting's Dream of the Blue Turtles, and volumes 1 and 2 of Billy Joel's greatest hits. This song always stuck out and sounded magical with the synthesizer. As I grew up, I had lyrics from this song frequently pop up in the back of my mind as I've learned about life and the world and spirituality. That's also why The Police are my favorite band.
Reactors always forget... Not every song is Top tier. Not every song is the same style/vibe/groove. This song is as good as others, but it's different. If every song were the same, no song would be awesome.
I grew up with hearing this on the radio all the time and playing the album but I must say, I actually love this song so much and in particular I love the verses. The way the bass guitar the drums the guitar in the voice all fit together like a jigsaw puzzle in yet it's still so funky and there's so much implied sway and rhythm in it. It's incredible. It's definitely musically complex. Not any random band could pull that off. But despite the complexity, I just feel it, it just makes you want to kind of undulate to it and then the way that the lyrics are delivered and the phrasing is just so cool.
I appreciate Rob being honest with his thoughts, some reviewers will say they like every song even when they don't. Personally I wasn't the biggest fan of this song either until I heard them play it live, the live version made it so much more likeable
Jay and Amber thank you for this song. I love it i requested this a while back. The police was my first concert in 1981 when i was 12. It was the tour of this album titled Ghost In The Machine.
I'd say, this song works better in context with the whole album than separately, but when the album came out everyone was aware of all the songs at the same time, so we got the vibe. There's nothing wrong not liking this, not everyone has to like everything!
i agree. i’m a huge police and sting fan. i’ve always liked this song while listening to the full album, but have never really thought it stood out. i still think synchronicity 2 and some more songs from dream of the blue turtles stand out more.
Yes, plus we've had the advantage of listening to these songs numerous times throughout our lives. I can think of many songs I either didn't understand or vibe with on the first take.
@Jim W that bassline is what kept me dancin on the dance floors back then!! BTW, other reactors loved this song, and the bass was specifically mentioned!
Like Neil Peart, Sting reads a lot and many of the lyrics and themes of The Police songs and albums (and his later solo work) are reflective of Sting’s mindset and inspirations from different authors and their work: Synchronicity, Don’t Stand So Close To Me, Tea In The Sahara, and this song are just a few examples. In fact, this album was heavily influenced by the writings of Hungarian author and philosopher Arthur Koestler. Sting enjoyed Koestler's work, and the album Ghost In The Machine is named after one of his books.
This is one of the reasons why Jordan doesn't care for it. The only books he's ever been into are ones that he colored in, or the pages popped up. I don't know why Amber is with this empty vessel. He's about as deep as a dixie cup.
When this song came out in 1982, alot of interesting music and music artists were coming into the scene that we never heard or saw before. 1982 was a interesting and unique time in music history.
I am going to bring up this point again. You cannot usually judge a song until you hear it 3 times. That used to be the rule back in the day that everyone knew. There are so many songs, that you might not like the first time, but after a couple of more times you might change your thoughts on a song. That was always part of our conversations back in the day, and you would hear people say I really didn't like that song, but I only heard it once so I have to hear it couple more times to know. Especially when it comes to a song like this, Jay liked the chorus, the drum beat, and the piano, but the rest wasn't for him, because he wasn't feeling it. This is a good example that by the third time Jay hears this song, he will like it more. This is not my favorite Police song, but I do like it. It played on the radio all the time. The chorus is so good, that once your body can feel it, you won't care much about the verses of the song, and want that chorus to kick in. I know you guys only have time to do a song once, and judge from one listening. But just remember, many times after hearing a song three times, it might grow on you. All I guess I am saying, is don't completely shrug off a song, until you heard it a few times. You might even shock yourself. I did back in the day all the time.
Great solo Sting songs are "Fortress Around Your Heart" and "If You Love Somebody, Set Them Free". Also "Englishman In New York", and "Fragile". If you want something light and fun, the song and video for "We'll Be Together" is great. Sting plays two characters and his real wife is in it as well. ✌️
It’s funny how differently people hear and vibe off of songs. This is one of favorites by The Police. I’d actually credit this song for making me a lifelong musician. First time I heard this on the radio as a kid in third grade I said to myself, “I want to do this for a job.” Ended up playing the drums professionally for many years and filling my plate from playing music.
I got hooked on them in the 70's and 80's. "Walking on the Moon" and "Roxanne". Saw them on their Syncronicity tour, mid 80's in Hawaii. Sting's career has been amazing ❤
Sting is one of my favorite artists. His unique voice and music can take you to different places and create different atmospheres. A favorite song of his for me is "Fragile". It is a raw and powerful song with Sting playing acoustic guitar. He makes the guitar cry and the lyrics are all about how vulnerable we as humans are. It was written after he visited Latin America and learned about some human rights issues that went on at the time. Powerful and poignant song even though it is simplistic but it doesn't need much to reach your core.
One of my favorite Sting songs is "Desert Rose" with Cheb Mami. It's a great song if yall are looking for any Sting songs. And by the Police " Invisible Sun" is Fantastic also❤You guys are The BEST REACTORS ON YOU TUBE. ❤❤❤
This was such a talented 3-man group, and drummer Steward Copeland has gone on to even bigger and better things. He's done music for many, many movies.. and String?? Well, he's gotten involved with so many things.. unique voice.. LOVE THESE MEN.
Ghost in the machine is a much darker sounding album thatn their previous work. I got a walkman and a tape of this album when I was in the hospital with a broken jaw. I listened to it on repeat for days while I was recovering. Really a favorite that puts me aback in a specific time and place.
The Police were the thinking man's rock band. This is a song that I've listened to hundreds of time since the 1980's. Hard to believe it's been 40 years.
I love The Police and Sting ,great musicians,King of pain, Invisible Sun, Tea in Sahara, De ,Do Do Do ,De, Da Da Da is another great song's you should check.
The Police made 5 albums. It is important to remember that the first 2 albums (Outlands d'Amour and Regatta d'Blanc) were actually recorded in the 1970s. (1978-79). These 2 are different, but similar. I first heard of the Police on the Benny Hill Show in 1979. The pastor at the UCC Church my family belonged to in the 70s did a sermon based on "Message In The Bottle" in 1979. (It was a very progressive church. I fondly remember it as "The Church of Our Groovy Father.") Next came Zenyatta Mondatta (1980) which is a different direction for the band. "Don't Stand So Close To Me" and "Driven To Tears/When The World Is Running Down" are the hits from that album. Then came this album "Ghost In The Machine" (1981). This album produced one of their biggest Pop hits with "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic". The rest of the album is almost experimental. I believe "Spirits In The Material World" was the opening track on side 'A' followed by "Every Little Thing...." Side 'B' opens with "Too Much Information", an almost Ornette Coleman inspired cacophony that somehow has a groove. With the horns and the polyrhythmic bouncing in the left to right panning. They played that song live to open the concert in Detroit in 1982. It was mind blowing. The last album "Synchronicity" (1983) took on a completely different complexion and produced the hit "Wrapped Around Your Finger." That was it! 5 albums and done. You should really check out each album. "One World Is Enough" off of Ghost In The Machine is a great feature for Stewart Copeland on the drums and an absolute goldmine for Hip-Hop sample loopers of the early 90s.
I really thought Jay would have liked "Spirits" for Sting's killer baseline and Stewart's drumming. A couple of Sting songs to check out would be "Fortress around your heart" and "If you love someone, let them free". Thanks and much love from Charleston, SC!
The Police have always been one of our favourite bands. A lot of their songs have a bit of a Reggae vibe mixed with Punk and Rock. And some are just straight up Reggae. We love most of their big hits, and lately we've been searching for some of their not so commercial songs. Great stuff! In fact, we just discovered a song from their early work called Peanuts. You should give it a try.
When The Police broke up in 1986, Stewart Copeland (the drummer) began a new career composing music for movies, TV, & a few video games. Movies he's worked on include Wall Street, Good Burger, & She's All That.
Some great songs reactions tonight-thanks you guys. This track by Police of the same ilk as Invisible sun is one of their darker ones with a message but still holds my attention. Every Breath you take is a favourite that was sampled by Puff Daddy on I'll be missing you.Sting went on to do some great solo stuff like Fields of Gold, Its probably me and This cowboy song is great. Also great for you guys to bear in mind is 'The song remains the same 'by Led Zeppelin which you will love!
He's referring to humans being spiritual beings in a materialistic world. The material world is all that is physical or superficial. The spiritual world is all that is deep or inwardly beautiful, and is related to the concept of the holy spirit and our being made in the image of God. Not literally ghosts, but souls living life among the physical and mundane. The solution to our troubled evolution isn't political, it's spiritual. When people are the problem, the solution is transcendence or self awareness which leads to responsibility, accountability, conscientiousness. Rant over. This is a soundtrack piece to a lifelong saga. The album after this one is called Synchronicity and a lot of the lyrics are about Jungian psychology and how we're all actually connected in spiritual and unconscious ways.
Hmmm. Jay we are not hearing the same song. I am all about the trippy, Pollyrhythm, and minor chords. It hints at the larger world of Spirit in which we live.
Lyrics aside, the musicality is off the charts ( pun intended: ). I was in a cover band in the 80's and singing this while playing the incredible bass line was one of my biggest challenges. Great band and reaction. I appreciate when y'all are honest - nobody loves everything, but you still recognize the talent. ❤
sting had some moments of lyrical genius..!!!! definitely read the lyrics... you'll appreciate how profound these lyrics are, and the amazing rhymes he comes up with...
Qué curioso que ayer buscaba esta canción para explicar lo que quiero hacer entender y hoy aparece por aquí... Importante canción como puerta de entrada al real entendimiento del significado de la Vida y la Creación.
This is a classic police song, but thanks for being honest...you can't like everything, right? That wouldn't be believable. Admitting you don't care for something just adds to your credibility as reactors. Nice job! 😉
I love The Police!!! First time I saw them was on this tour and it was a great show. In fact, the show was at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman. I'm sure you know it...not far from you guys.
My favorite Police song is "King of Pain" That came from their "Synchronicity" album, which is their masterpiece. The 2 other songs you havn't reacted to from that album is Synchronicity l and ll. Both different but amazing. The other Police songs you havn't done is "Don't Stand So Close to Me " and "Da Doo Doo Doo, De Daa Daa Daa." All songs Jay is guaranteed to like.
This song has great lyricism as well as musicianship! The Police perfected their fusion of reggae, pop, punk, rock, jazz like no other act! It got to number 11 on the US billboard pop chart back in 1982.
Amber, you did a great job of understanding what the song is about. 🙂 I love how you go deeper than just the instruments and move to the beat. I feel that you and I could have some great conversations about music. 🙂 I have to explain a lot of what I listen to when it comes to some people, because they're just used to beats and bass, and don't take a dive into the lyrics that are often very powerful.
Jay, I didn't hear you mention the bass line! I like the vibe of the song. And also the lyrics. Sting is a master of writing. If you want to hear a song with a happy, melodic reggae sound "Love Is the Seventh Wave" (Sting solo). Lyrics are meaningful too and not as dark as Spirits. But I don't think it's as popular as this one. You still have to do The Police “Don't Stand So Close To Me”. It goes back to when Sting was a teacher.
the BEST Police song is " Synchronicity 2 " . The best solo song by Sting ( lead singer of The Police ) is " Fortress around your heart ". Sooooo good 🎵
You guys need to get into Sting's solo work. That is a very deep rabbit hole. As good as his work with the Police is, his solo work is magnificent. He's a phenomenal songwriter. We definitely don't give him enough love. It's a mystery why he hasn't been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his solo work but then again it's become a joke. Check out Sting's If You Love Somebody Set Them Free, If I Ever Lose My Faith In You, We'll Be Together, Shape of My Heart, Fragile. And that's just to start.
Every song doesn’t have to bang your brains out or be massively overproduced, this is arguably one of their best tracks, understated but hits home in other ways.
THANK YOU AGREED 100%🙂
Great comment
I hate overproduced Music. example, 1 of my favourite band is The Rolling Stones. Exile mainstream so over produced. Doesn’t matter about singing/playing is.
Much in agreement......this song is DOPE!
i keep telling them...but no listen...It got to bang your head or the overused term "vibe" to be the thing...
'there is no political solution to our troubled evolution" ... one of the great classic lines of rock
Right up there with Rush and Yes, lyrically.
Is a Fact! And the solution is REALLY understand what "we are spirits in a material world" means.
@@clintlandrum9498 Sting becomes serious in many ways, and I respect he talks things nobody talks, like Russians song, is a song with so many truthts.
I first heard this line when I was 12…absolutely mind blowing…changed my perspective on things…it has stuck with me for 40 years…
Ghost in The Machine was a terrific album. Any song from the album would be good.
Totally agree 100%!
Definitely my favorite Police album.
I'm a huge Police fan and can argue that Ghost in the Machine is a better album than Synchronicity
Yes, I saw The Police on the Ghost in the Machine tour in 1982. Great concert.
I think it’s their most consistent album.
Very few groups perfectly meshed multiple genres into musical perfection like The Police did.
Earth Wind and Fire paved the way. Pat Metheny Group took meshing genres and cultures to another level.
Initially hearing this song (way back in '81), I wasn't sure about it. But the more I listened the more my appreciation grew --- Soon becoming a permanent fixture in my rotation of favorite Police songs.
This was me and my mom's jam. She passed away 4 years ago. This song always makes me think of her.
🤗
Cool 🎶🙏🏽🕊
🫡🤙
We are spirits having a temporary human experience. (not the other way around)
Absolutely
As I advance in age I'm starting to believe this more and more.
💯
To me, the message Sting is conveying is that we are bigger spirits than this material world. Like the material world gives us a narrow point of view but if we can find a bigger consciousness, with spirituality and vision, we'll be able to see beyond the petty and our little problems that we create.
Most so-called "Christians" in America just need to see beyond the evil con man they are holding up as a hero. lol #MAGACult
I like that. A lot. Thank you for offering your perception. A very beautiful, dreamy and cosmic way of conveying the message.😊🙏
It's an amazing song, the lyrics are very important between the chorus.
Jay and Amber are finding out, the Police were more than just reggae. They grew and matured from that.. The Police were so much more than just reggae.
That BASS! This song is a masterpiece. Put together SO.WELL!
Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
There is no political solution
To our troubled evolution
Have no faith in constitution
There is no bloody revolution
[Chorus]
We are spirits in the material world
Are spirits in the material world
We are spirits in the material world
Are spirits in the material world
[Verse 2]
Our so-called leaders speak
With words they try to jail you
They subjugate the meek
But it's the rhetoric of failure
[Chorus]
We are spirits in the material world
Are spirits in the material world
We are spirits in the material world
Are spirits in the material world
[Verse 3]
Where does the answer lie?
Living from day to day
If it's something we can't buy
There must be another way
[Chorus]
We are spirits in the material world
Are spirits in the material world
We are spirits in the material world
Are spirits in the material world
We are spirits in the material world
Are spirits in the material world
We are spirits in the material world
Are spirits in the material world

Stewart Copeland is a incredible drummer, he and Neil Peart started as friendly rivals who became close friends.
One of the best Police songs they have...Jay, you have to listen to it more than once. It takes awhile to grow on you.....The lyrics comment on the nature of man's existence and the failure of his earthly institutions.
Totally! If he has any musical awareness, after a few listens it should be abundantly clear that this song is absolutely spectacular on every level!
Yes, a great album. For me, Stewart Copeland's high-hat work is flawless. The Police should have lasted longer.
Sting and Stewart couldn’t get along , too bad, I would love to see what they could do together now…
I just love watching Stewart Copeland drum...
Hey...they went out on top! And Stewart Copeland is a very underrated percussionist! His drums have a very unique sound because of how tight he "tunes" them.
I’m just grateful we got what we got.
He was hired for the Peter Gabriel So album specifically to play hats on the song Red Rain. Take a listen, astounding playing I think.
I was also amazed Jay didn't latch on to that amazing bass riff in this song.
Jay you are crazy. This song is straight up fire!! The first song by then I loved!! Motivated me to buy the album.
Agreed! This song is insanely good - no words for how good it is...!
Thanks for being honest! If you tell us honestly when you don't like stuff, it makes you more trustworthy when you tell us about stuff you like.
A top 5 80s in my space, such a deep vibe.

Exactly. Its so good its not even funny. I actually consider it as one the songs in this world that is actually on a whole other level. Too good!
It has always amazed me how a 3-piece band could get such a full sound like a 5-piece band. They were so good at Ska/Reggae vibes. Pure talent!!
I totally agree. But this tune does have keyboards dubbed over it.
This version sounds different than I remember it. If hazard a guess that it's been remixed.

Timeless music👍🏻
The Police "SYNCHRONICITY II" and "DON'T STAND SO CLOSE TO ME" ❤ (original videos)
The Police are probably my favorite band ever. I have to admit I am a little disappointed in Jay for not pointing out Sting's bass here. I think it absolutely slaps! Only a little disappointed. 😉 Love you guys!!
Completely agree. Love that bass line.
That bass line in those verses is absolutely killer!
That's what I said, too. I really thought that that bassline would hook him.

too complex for him.. maybe in time

Haunting sounds and lyrics. This from some 40 years ago, has more relevance in today's world than in that period of the past. Prophetic.
Absolutely
Love this song. When I was a kid I used to think they were singing “We are spirits in my cereal world”. LOL
I often find that the songs that don't grab you straight off are the ones that grow on you and become favourites.
It has a complex rhythm, not for people who only groove to simple 4/4 beats. That bass line in the verse is killer.
Jay & Amber, You'll love their "So Lonely", "Synchronicity II" and "The Beds To Big Without You" !!!!
I keep hoping they’ll listen to Synchronicity II.

This is my favorite Police song! So sorry you didn't get into it!
They've gotta love that bass line at least.
Well, as Jay and Amber are finding out, the Police were more than just reggae. They grew and matured from that.
@Jim W that bassline is what kept me dancin on the dance floors back then!!
BTW, other reactors loved this song, and the bass was specifically mentioned!
I love when musical artists play like this, the syncopated beat, these are real artists
1982 was a interesting and unique time in music history.
my fave Police song! ♥
Another great song by these guys is called "King of Pain" and then there's "Walking In Your Foot Steps"
Keep Up the OUTSTANDING Video reactions!! Love you guys!!
It still amazes me that this song actually became sort of popular with its odd time signature.
One of my favorite Sting songs is "Desert Rose" with Cheb Mami. It's a great song if yall are looking for any Sting songs. And by the Police
" Invisible Sun" is Fantastic also❤You guys are The BEST REACTORS ON YOU TUBE. ❤❤❤
It's the way the verses are accented that gives it the skewed rhythm feel that you're feeling.....awesome track, thanks for the reaction!
I saw The Police in 1982. Best concert I ever went to. Those guys were on fire!!!
The Police had many great songs, so happy to see you both :)
Have to react to "King of Pain,Fortress Around Your Heart" And "Set Them Free"
“They subjugate the weak.” Great line.
Meek.
Another fine example of the complex and diverse nature of music from the 80s. This band was scary good.
The song Reggatta de Blanc which won a Grammy for best rock instrumental in 1980. Three jammin' songs in just three minutes.
"Where does the answer lie? .....Il it's something we can't buy... there must be another way" Great great lyrics...great music.
I fondly remember it as "The Church of Our Groovy Father.")
Next came Zenyatta Mondatta (1980) which is a different direction for the band.
I believe "Spirits In The Material World" was the opening track on side 'A' followed by "Every Little Thing...."
Side 'B' opens with "Too Much Information", an almost Ornette Coleman inspired cacophony that somehow has a groove. With the horns and the polyrhythmic bouncing in the left to right panning. They played that song live to open the concert in Detroit in 1982. It was mind blowing.
The last album "Synchronicity" (1983) took on a completely different complexion and produced the hit "Wrapped Around Your Finger."
That was it!
Jay, this is the type of song that grows on you the more you listen to it!
This and Walking on the moon are my favorite Police songs.
the police was a forerunner as the world of 2023 is increasingly materialistic and digital. one of my favorite sounds !
It’s all about the lyrics in this one.
Great comment 💖
Hmmm. Jay we are not hearing the same song. I am all about the trippy, Pollyrhythm, and minor chords. It hints at the larger world of Spirit in which we live.
Yes, Amber! Spirits, or souls, having a human experience in a very material world.
sting had some moments of lyrical genius..!!!! definitely read the lyrics... you'll appreciate how profound these lyrics are, and the amazing rhymes he comes up with...
the chorus feels so good because it is resolving the tension from the verses.
Qué curioso que ayer buscaba esta canción para explicar lo que quiero hacer entender y hoy aparece por aquí... Importante canción como puerta de entrada al real entendimiento del significado de la Vida y la Creación.
The Police: Can't Stand Losing You & So Lonely
Sting solo: If You Love Someone Set Them Free & We'll Be Together
This is a classic police song, but thanks for being honest...you can't like everything, right? That wouldn't be believable. Admitting you don't care for something just adds to your credibility as reactors. Nice job! 😉
Thank you for being honest so many reactors say they love every song just to get likes and subs 👍👍
From the Same album as "Every little thing she does is magic". Good tune! Rain here all day in NJ as well. Dreary day.
I just love the bass line in this song. This is my fav track on Ghosts.
I love The Police!!! First time I saw them was on this tour and it was a great show. In fact, the show was at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman. I'm sure you know it...not far from you guys.
Like you, Jay, not my go to Police song, but a cleverly constructed one for sure. It grows on you x
Please listen to Joe Jackson-Stepping Out. Great piano.
Great suggestion!
My favorite song ever. Thanks for reviewing it!
I have to explain a lot of what I listen to when it comes to some people, because they're just used to beats and bass, and don't take a dive into the lyrics that are often very powerful.
