Tonight you did a real tour de force through what I call the musical universe in which Nightwish is a real portal. So many colors, so many nuances.. Thank you, Eric, it was a pleasant and unexpected surprise for me.

This song is one of my favorites from my "Decades Tour" 2 CD set that I keep in my SUV. I get funny looks from people when I am looking for a " Handicapped " parking spot...as I turn my music up pretty loud!
And wow...2 Nightwish reaction videos in a day!! You made my day! I am laying in bed, sweat paints on, warm shirt, and a heating pad wrapped around leg, and one on my lower back! This is TEXAS..we're not supposed to have all this doggone cold weather!!!!
Great reaction once again, Eric! One note: there is one very spesific reason why this Wacken 2018 concert never reached the "reaction popularity heights" of example Wacken 2013, Tampere 2015, Wembley 2015 or Buenos Aires 2018: the sound engineering/mixing. It is not bad but it isnt on par with beforementioned concerts. Lacking the usual high stellar Nightwish audio sound we are used to. Specially Floor's vocals seems to be running on the hot side and not as well integrated with the band as we normally hear her. Rumour has it that Wacken techs simply missed the mark of excellence that year. Great concert nevertheless.
And besides, Nightwish should always play in the evening/night in the dark. Not only for the atmosphere, but also for the mood and the sound, which carries better at night.
@@TomTomson81 This is true aswell, good observation. Tampere 2015 was interesting exception as it was shot daytime turning into evening + was superbly shot and directed.
All bands do benefit from professional visual/audio engineering but in case of Nightwish they turn great band into, as Eric well puts it, cheat code mode :)
This was more of "raw" mix directly from the mixing console and broadcasted through web (this is recording the wacken live stream), so lower quality is partly because of that. "TV live broadcasts" usually are off anyway, highly compressed, thin and bit muddy.
Their FOH Kimmo Ahole explained after the show that Wacken had updated their entire PA system to new brand that year and the pre-settings NW used previous times (for the old system) were off. Furthermore, the new system was extra sensitive that he had to take VERY small and slow steps in mixing while the show went on. No soundcheck, and the first song... if you listen closely, sound is getting better even during this piece.
@@OPJ1974yup. Wacken ‘13, Wembley/Tampere ‘15, and Buenos Aires ‘18 were released as official live albums. Meaning the live audio multi tracks are re-mixed and mastered in post production in a manner suited to consumer playback (head phones, home/car speakers, etc.). A good live venue mix is not a 1-to-1 to a playback mix that sounds good to our ears as “at-home” consumer. The large the venue, the larger the difference in mixes typically. Wacken ‘13 also had the benefits of crowd ambiance being recorded with crowd mics and mixed in appropriately via post production.
And in terms of visual quality. It’s always better to see a stage show either indoors or at night outdoors. The theater of the mind gets to bounce around uninterrupted.
@@OPJ1974 Great inside info, thank you very much for this Olli! Indeed, sound is slightly improving towards the end of this performance. Yeah, it must of been handfull of task for Kimmo finetuning sound in real time with new extra sensitive system.
All things considered, end result is most likely as good as it was possible. Kudos to all hard working techs doing their best as their "hidden craft" is not credited often enough.
This is an old track fom 2002s Century child album originally written for Tarja ....and you can hear that. But Floor is doing a great job!

This was also broadcasted all over the world, remember watching it from home....the first time we saw Floor in this outfit. You should watch the real opening from Buenos Aires to this Decade tour.

Thank you Jörg and Eric, I had not seen this registration before. Video and audio were less quality than Wacken 2013, I think, but must have been great for people in that audience.
I spent one whole Summer half of a year commuting to work with roller skates and listening to Century Child, starting from the beginning on each run.
I loved the energy in that album, especially these couple first songs.

Song is from the 4th album, Century Child in 2002. Floor's awesome here , but Tarja kills it on this song too. Later, check out the live version with Tarja at Summer Breeze 2002.

End of All Hope is one of those 4 great Nightwish openers.
Although the sound isn't as good, both Wacken and Bloodstock 2018 were good concerts.
If you watch Bloodstock, keep an eye on Emppu.
The best one is, of course, Buenos Aires

The wacken techs were not on top of thetr game that year. But this song has no back track wich I like.

I dislike the entire Wacken 2018 concert. I don't know who did the Sound etc. But Nightwish deserved better and the fans as well. It unfortunate that things were subpar and noticeable. It like the band was stumbling etc. It was very off. But great reaction.

this was an amazing show although the mixing/recording is not good! there is a remastered version of the show that is much better!!

In my opinion as great as Floor is, the absence of Marco has turned one of my favorite bands from brilliant into now only very good. I’ve heard the Marco-less versions of their very best songs and they are not the same. I’m very worried that the extra strain of singing alone is going to burn out Floor’s wonderful vocals. Marco took a lot of that vocal strain off her. I hope I’m wrong in my prediction but I’m convinced I’m not.
This Wacken 2018 show has a notoriously bad reputation and not without a reason, as you can see. Avoid it like we all do. 😎👍
The sound quality is lacking in spades. One gets spoiled by the quality of many of the Nightwish live events. This sounds like live recordings from 1995

As I do love Floor, the original with Tarja is in my opinion superior. Her voice seems to cut through the music better with a sharper stabbier effect. Its just like Wishmaster...I prefer Tarja. Don't get me wrong when I discovered Nightwish it was with Floor and I love whatever she sings.
