Well let me tell you if you have a severe infestation, you will do just about ANYTHING to get rid of these little critters! Mr. Piacenza's info was great. Sometimes you need the advice if an expert! Here's some pointers that I hope help some of you: Vacuum the entire house and all furniture like crazy, 3 times a day if you have to, and dump the contents in appropriate manner, but get that OUT of your house so the fleas you just collected don't jump out back into your house. Even spray the contents with a spray bottle full of mosquito spray or something fleas hate.Sweep hard flooring daily.

    I got rid of mine cheap and with minimal effort and time. Bought 4 products from Wal-Mart.
    First Dawn Ultra detergent - $1.00. Add it to a cup of water and place on the floor and shine a light on it (lamp, flashlight, etc.) In a few areas around the house. Shut off all lights at night but these and fleas are attracted to the light and will die in the Dawn water.
    Second is a typical flea collar - approximately $3.00. Bathe animal and wash your hair with Dawn detergent, put flea collar on pet and leave the house with them for a couple hours.
    Third, bed bug fogger - $9.84. Set them off in every room.
    Four, flea powder - $5.99. Dust everything with the powder and let it sit awhile then vacuum up.
    Fleas are gone.
    Extra precautions: set out fresh Dawn water for a few days to make sure no more fleas jump in, and second, continue to dust carpets with the flea powder a couple hours before you usually vacuum to prevent further problems.
    I did this a month ago and have twice dusted the carpets before vacuuming.
    I was eat up with bites and my cat was constantly scratching. I haven't seen one flea and my cat nor I have itched one bit.
    Total - Approximately $20.00
    Time - Approximately 5 - 6 hours, most of it waiting on bombs to finish and going back to air out the house.

      Char Fox I just found fleas on my strictly indoor cat today. They were all over her. And she sleeps primarily on my bed right next to me. After watching several vids and reading numerous comments I find yours the most practical. I will try this. Bc I'm at a complete loss how she got them.
      She's 7 yrs old and been indoors since she was 6wks old (when I brought her home). And have never had a problem till now. I usually bathe her two to three times a year and have never seen fleas until today. She has never been around other pets or has been outside. I don't want to sleep in my bed now haha.

      D Goody All it takes is one of the pests coming in on your clothes. And if you have carpeting, they will overrun your house. I tried flea bombs, flea powder, etc. When I used bedbug bombs instead of just flea bombs, and added the Dawn solutions, it's the first time we got relief.

      I'm there right now. Seriously is enough to send you over the edge.
      I moved into a flat, my dog has had the odd flea over the years, but this was unbelievable. THE WORST FOR ME IS... just moving in most furniture in storage, bags of clothes every where. As my plan was to decorate and then get my carpets fitted. Then this hit me, at least my carpets weren't fitted. The fleas weren't the problem, it's the next stages, that keep cropping up. There are days I sit and cry as I don't know what to do next.ive 2 fleas in these 4mnths. My dog is protected. She has always slept with me.
      I bought a little power steamer. I've hovered. I think my room is the hub because I had clothes and other things all on a sofa in my room.
      Washing bedding I've boiled on 90degrees wash with bleach. It's the lava stage. I think it's that stage.

    You must take a multiple step approach. We first dusted with Diatomaceous earth. Washed our pets with flea and tick shampoo, then immediately put flea collars on them. Then sprayed IGR. Then vacuum a lot (we cut up chunks of flea collar and put it in the vacuum dust collector), wash clothing, bedding, pet toys on hot and then dry on hot for as long as possible. Then we repeated all this again in another 2 weeks.

      Cut flea collar ? That sounds extremely stupid since a vacuum sucks air in NOT out plus no need to waste extra cash on a wasted flea collar since the vacuum itself destroys fleas at any stage. The suction alone can destroy
      them but just to be safe empty the vacuum filter down the toilet and watch the live ones get flushed to HELL.

And it was impossible to take a piece of clothing from my closet that was free of these bugs? They entered through the roof of my house, when a branch of my nearby tree hit the edge of my roof after a storm, making a hole, through which thousands or millions of mites entered! They only affected me, I saw it as impossible My war, which according to me were fleas? mites after the fleas continued, I stopped using flea insecticides and started using Diatomaceus earth powder, apple vinegar spray, alcohol spray, baking soda, and all clothes washed in hot water, and stored in plastic bags so they wouldn't get contaminated with these mites! I had to put a sticker roll over my clothes and they stuck there, no one believed they were mites, I kept cleaning and by April of this year, they stopped feeling them, Right now I can say that patience and perseverance are the keys to victory against these insects! And my faith in God gave me the strength to overcome everything! I didn't have to escape from my house, I thought it was a hopeless case 😞, but little by little everything was returning to normal. The products that I used first for fleas were; Raid flea carpet & room, Raid flea fogs, Orthon insecticide spray against fleas, Martin IG regulator, bifetrin insecticide and carpet washing and vacuuming a lot of sofas, beds, carpets, I wish you good luck, Patience and faith for those who are currently dealing with these horrible insects.

It was in the natural water supplies before dangerous chemicals were introduced and are now universally used to public water supplies. Boric Acid is Boran and hydrogen peroxide, that is Boran and water with an extra hydrogen molecule. It is less toxic than salt, that is, it is perfectly safe and non toxic and in fact is does have healing qualities. Look up Boric Acid in healing water.

      Steam is the most efficient tool I've experimented but that doesn't mean the others are useless. Like vacuum cleaners, insecticide bombs (provided that they don't only kill adult fleas but at all stage of life of the insect). Flea traps with soapy water will not get rid completely of the fleas, but if you install many of these, they will indicate you where the infestation is at its worse and you will priotize these places.

      I'm also washing loads of clothes, bedding, cushions etc on a high temperature to try and make sure theres none on there. Duvets/mattress' and rugs are hard to wash, I would advice spraying them with Indorex if you can get it

    my cat had fleas and my house was full of them,they multiply fast,what I did was at night I turned off all lights and bought those little lights you connect in the outlet and near that I would put a plate with water,the fleas would go to the light and jump into the water and I caught a lot like this in a couple of days..they go to where there is light so getting these are good and a large plate but not too high,they won't come out of water,they drown..it really worked

    People who havent seem an infestation dont get it!!! Whennyou literally have 100 fleas on your feet from walking ten steps you got an infestation... your kitty kat having avfew fleas and getting treated regularly in a super clean house is not conducive to an infestation. I have just started this fight after realising the feral cat i let live in my shed and i feed daily, plus have gained enough trust with him to pat him ( vry briefly) has caused an infestation in my outdoir shed that has now affected my house. Sheds not used much, more of storage so i had no idea what was occurring... its bloody OUT OF CONTROL!!! I stepped in to get some stuff to fught the fleas inside and got covered in hundreds of them luterally 30 seconds in shed. Had to strip naked out at clithes line in middle of backyard, hang out clothes walk away and make sure i had zero on me- then go inside to start planning 🤣. Unfortunately it aint no joke... this is 🤬🤬🤬

      That helps a little but won't eliminate them. Also if you use too much and vacuum it up it can break your vacuum. You will need to vacuum first with a shopvac then use your good vacuum. I tried Diatomaceous Earth and Borax and it didn't really help. It sure was difficult to clean up. You've been warned. Make sure you treat your pets and spray an IGR on your carpet, and drapes, and use some on your hard floors. Spray some in your pet bed too. It makes it so the eggs don't hatch.

They can climb in but they are helpless to get out. Once some come in it attracts even more , pharomones or something.
    These type of things are nice but they only control the population they will not completely eliminate them unfortunately

    We treated our cats with Comfortis. After two weeks of DIY & storebought failure - I had my house professionally treated last week. I’m still seeing fleas here & there. I’m getting bitten, but not nearly as much as before. I brush my cats & have bathed them & get quite a few dead fleas off them daily. I also still find some half dead, jittering fleas around my house.
    How long after a professional spray, as well as continuous daily cleaning & laundry, will we see no fleas?
    Should I have them come back & treat my house again? The stuff they used had a growth inhibitor.
    I understand they have cycles, and I’m wondering if the fleas I’m finding are the ones that are hatching.

    What he is neglecting to explain is that if you properly treat your pets for fleas and ticks using either topical treatments or pills or a combination of the two as long as your vet says that there are no interactions… The fleas will go away because fleas will not lay eggs on a human… They will bite a human but they will not live on a human and they will not lay eggs on a human because our blood is not nutritious enough… Yes you still want to treat your house but the main objective is to treat your pets to make sure that they are no longer a host for the fleas.

    A lot of things work. Recently a girl in a dollar store told this to my husband:Use fabric softener and alcohol. Mix together and shake. Use lots of alcohol-it's harmless. I also spray it on my shoes and work clothes. I spray every day. I still get bit about once a day in areas of my house that I don't spray daily. My dog likes to wiggle in the grass for some reason, so we will have this problem as long as we have him. We also spray this on his fur. He likes it. The fleas die and drop off. If you spray your dog before he goes outside, this helps a lot. I still have to wash couch covers nearly every day. They get itchy after a couple of days. It is a never ending battle. This is a cheap way to control fleas without using chemicals.

I even tried "borax" - the cleaner because i read that has boric acid, but i don't think it does because i could leave silverfish in a jar with the bottom lined with borax and they would live indefinitely. *Wish* I could get my hands on it.

    I used tibsoray my yard with malathion and diazinon every 6 months, keep the dogs off the yard 24 hours, bathe the dogs, wash their bedding, vaccum the house, wash all human bedding in dog flea shampoo and hot water, vacuum all mattresses and spray with flea killer. Did that 2 days a year NEVER had any flea problems. Then they took diazinon off the market. 😰😰 never been the same since.

    The botanical insecticide he breifly mentions is permethrin - a rather common and not very toxic type.

      or is it pyrethrin ? Anyway, I would want to know the ratio for the boric acid : water mixture

    Please Please answer!! This shows you spraying the powder right into the dog bed with the doggie right there - so every other place that sells the Boric Acic says it can't be sprayed around pets or children! !
    (!??!) which is right??

    • @Juniorg81
      @Juniorg81 6 лет назад +1

      jmluvsfatleg thank you! Don't treat bedding of pets, don't treat pet toys or climbing trees. Don't care if it's a earth friendly product or what the manufacturer says. Consult a vet. I'm a pest control tech and that's like a top 3 rule in the company behind don't spray rude customers in the face.

    We watched a dog for friends and got infested. I have a 48hr success story . Vacuum every room in the house , bombed every room in the house using the fogger one that you drop in water. After that vacuum every 5 hours. Dump it in the outside garbage can every time. Every time you see a flea. vacuum. Get boric acid and a pump sprayer mix about a cup of boric to one gallon. spray every crack crevice of the flooring. It will dry kind of gritty ... this is what you want. They move through it and cut themselves letting the acid in. Wait at least 24hrs vacuum again. Wash all your clothes multiple times , do not bring laundry back in until you haven't seen anything . Get outside spray that hooks to the hose. Spray the entire yard. I sprayed the whole exterior of my house. It's an expensive fight. But , it's a fight you must win. I will continue the boric acid at least once every 2 weeks just for good measure . But we have been flea free for a few days as of now. Good luck if you have this problem. P.S we no longer pet sit.

      LOL.. no longer pet sit.. what a horror story. Did you actually see fleas? I am getting bitten by something but have never seen any fleas on carpet, furniture or dog. I read sometimes you can't see them at all, so I am getting paranoid. I don't know where to go to attack them...

      Try the Dawn soap with bowl trick, it's a good unit of measure to see how infested you are. :)

    • @Reloadeez
      @Reloadeez 6 лет назад +4

      Use baking soda and salt, sprinkle the whole damn house, not just carpeted areas. It's gonna look like Scarface had a party in it. Let sit for 24 hours vac it all up, lay out dawn dish traps, and repeat every 7 days two more times.

      John F I just read your post on how to get rid of fleas. Thank you for posting it. I’ve been suffering with fleas for about five months now. I paid good money to have an exterminator come in, all for nothing. It didn’t even phase them. I sure hope this works. Do you need the light with the bowl of dawn soap as someone else suggested??

    • @mikeraz9258
      @mikeraz9258 5 лет назад +2

      The desk lamp and dawn trick only is useful to actually find out if you in fact have a flea problem. Granted it may kill a bunch of fleas. But it’s not gonna kill or stop the problem being that if they are in a egg or larva state you’re gonna continue battling.

    Raid flying insect spray...spray on floors. Bombs did not work. Start in a back corner of the room. I pulled my shirt over my mouth. Spray floor as backing out. Shut door for a few hours. Do each room. Keep animals out of house til done. Do this 3-4 times in a 2-3 week period. Fleas in house are gone. I also put flea drops on the dogs for at least 2-3 months. Gets them gone

    Good info about the flea - but - I know what the Boric Acid Powder is - you say mix with a good botanical. (?) What / which one is that? Can I use with my cat right there? I have purchased some PreCor 2000 Plus but you say mix with botanicals again. You don't specify. Even the PreCor says I must remove my cat until dry.... Is that correct? Please help. I have a severe infestation in my house. This is the only video that has made sense - but still have questions! Thanks!
