I just found your channel, I grew up in Spokane, after my Apprenticeship in Sheet Metal I relocated to Seattle In late 2020 I retired, in Feb 2021 expat-ed to Thailand after Covid restrictions were relaxed (7day quarantine). after I got situated here I purchased a 2nd hand 2021 MSX Grom the model is basically the 2022 but its still only got the 4 speed gear box Suspension upgrades were Michelin City Grip2 tires (140 rear 130 front) YSS G Series Rear Shock and I found on Bikerbitz the YSS Front suspension kit for the 2019 Monkey..... I shot an email to YSS and asked them about the interchange they replied they they will work just fine, the kit had the 10wt oil included in it as well I've done more upgrades as well but I will cover that later BTW I sub you as well........ and *GO COUGS!*
Great job! Thank you so much for this super clear step by step. Used it to install my springs. Now that it's done, sort of wish I had also done the damper side too.
14 tooth front, stock tooth superlite in the rear, both in 428 chain pitch and swapping in TST adjusters! Fingers crossed I can finish the honey-do list and get to it this afternoon.
I just sent them in without tapping hah. They were fairly short, maybe 15mm? It's been a while so I don't really remember. I do remember I had to ever so slightly shave the outside of the head of the bolt to fit a little less snugly into the fork leg, though. Good luck!
Not only used your model but used this to say f*ck it ill do it myself. I now have kitaco Front forks and preload adjusters at the bottom - I went for 15w oil in the forks - took it for a 50 mile ride and wow night and day. going to go for braided Hel lines next! Running a Racing bros rear shock too.
What was the approximate cost of this? I’ve been wanting to do it for two years and always find other things to spend on, but it’s about time. Almost done welding my own design 12 bar, so DIY is always my first choice 😂
Springs and fluid was about $125. I think I said in the video though, it's a huge improvement and worth it, but if I were to do it again I'd go fully cartridge replacement for the extra $$. Depending on the kit those are 200-300.
@@SpencerDesmarais yea you mentioned a few different paths and I know there’s adjustable preload versions and all sorts of things. I’m more a set it and forget it kinda guy. My Svartpilen had adjustments on everything imaginable and I never touched them. There’s too many options out there for my tiny brain so I’d like to possibly double the resistance and only do it once lol.
They were just some generic m5 socket cap head screws I had laying around. Depending on brand/knurling on whatever ones you find at your local hardware store bulk section or amazon you may need to sand it down a tiny bit to fit into the holes on the fork legs.
This a genius, love your work!!!!

Glad it helped!!
Cool video thx. If you do the chain and sprockets be great to get the vid on it

YOU ARE NOW CALLED DOCTOR GROM!!
Do you think it’s the spacer or oil weight??
Nice work other spencer! Im about 260, this should be worthwile for sure!
Thanks, Spencer! It's going to be a night and day difference!
Was the bottom caps reverse thread?
How did this work out for you, and how did the 15w oil work out...I'm set to do mine.
100% better than stock, zero regrets. Next time I change the oil I''ll try a 10w instead of 15w, it's a liiiiitle bit slow.
Oh good, I ordered 10w oil and was worried it might not be heavy enough. @@SpencerDesmarais Thanks.
@@SpencerDesmarais @mr.somebody1493 Thanks, I am going to do the install next week and wasn't sure what oil. I will try 10W.
Just printed your fork tool, thanks so much. Did you just tap the two holes and thread your M5 bolt in? What length did you go with?

Hell yeah! Got a link for the brake lines?
what size socket did you use to take the caps off the forks?? Much appreciated!
36mm
Danke für das Video.
Wieviel mm. Ist Original und Racing?

which screws did you use in the adapter?

Would that tool work on a 19?
It should, yeah, pretty sure they’re all the same diameter
@@SpencerDesmarais thanks man, got the motobros springs to put in
what weight oil did u get ?
I used 15w, from the feel of it though I probably would have been safe at 10w, too, for a bit plusher ride.
@@SpencerDesmarais ok from reading online most said 10w so i’ll order that now .
thanks
