This song captures late 70s Britain - or at least, the SE of England perfectly, a kind of anti - Kinks if you will. The first line is as evocative as it is possible to be, incredible, just amazing, effortless. I can identify 100%, I was there, I was a young person then, sadly just too young to have been an adult part of it all which I regret deeply now. Fantastic song, great times for all their undoubted serious economic and political problems, a last wild hurrah before the imposition of the Thatcherite 80s and the crushing weight of inhumane deregulated neoliberalism. Wonderful.

1980s brit music made the decade great and made the american bands upgrade their image. i would have hated this in 1979 if i heard it then.... but would have liked it by the mid 1990s. never heard this until about 2003 on cable tv digital radio music choice's channel "retroactive"
