Matt I started my riding off road on a 1977 Suzuki RV 90 rode that bike for years. I got out of the service Dec 1985 went to the boat sport and travel show and found the Yamaha BW 200 rode that bike for about one and a half years. I ended up at the show again and found the TW 200 traded the BW 200 and never looked back my 1989 TW 200 runs like new, just up graded the skid plate after your video, new tires now looking at a rack system for off road camping this bike just cant be stopped. It took a while for the after market stuff to catch up but now its a cult following. I love this bike.
Hey Gunsite, thanks for taking the time to watch and to share your story! That is awesome that you still have your 1989 TW! 30+ years of ownership is pretty sweet! I'm a big fan of my Cycleracks rear rack, it holds a bunch of weight and is sturdy as all get out. I have laid my bike over plenty of times and that rack has saved it every time. I hope you have plenty more years of riding the TW! Thanks again!
Thanks Matt. You, Tdubs Kid, Tildeathdualussport and Dual Dorks all inspired me to go out and buy my TW, get my endorsement and get out camping. The TW community is full of good folks. The TW forums are a wealth of knowledge. I really want to start making my own moto camping videos mixing in some botany, geology, wildlife and history of my area. I just don't have any damn time lol.
The TW200 is a GREAT bike for new rides or any rider who wants a simple and fun all round little Bike. Not the best for speed but goes everywhere and costs so little.

Well, it's official Matt. The boss has taken the Tdub as hers and I've been relinquished to to xt250. After some tire pressure changes the TW is more stable on the gravel and dirt now. And our both 2008's has a 2 inch height difference with the xt250 at 33" . Of course she waited to decide this after I had put in quite a bit of money for upgrade for the Tdub......I can't argue bc I'm just glad she'll go ride with me...
That's awesome!! 😂😂 That's why I bought Two of them. But, you do have the XT so you aren't bad off at all. That's interesting, because the specs say that the TW seat is at 31.1 and the XT is at 31.9? That's crazy!
@@MOBStreet83 mine is high for some reason. But with my 220 lb of nothing but muscle, of course, she lowers a bit. Our Tdub front sprocket is a tooth less from stock so has a bit more torque so if she's good on that it's for the best. We rarely get over 35.
@@MOBStreet83 I'm on my 2nd one. I've ridden dragons tail, Smokey mountain 500 and all over South Ga. and North Florida. I want to do TAT but I can't get anyone to go with me!! I'm not doing it by myself because that is not wise!!!
Right, I wouldn't do that ride alone either! I have two of them right now and my wife and I will ride all over together. I would love to do a cross country ride, but until I make this my full time gig, I gotta work. Soon though!
Nice!! Congrats on the new bike! I would recommend a riders training course if you haven't taken one already. If you have, for me personally I like to ride in less congested areas until I am comfortable with the bike and I understand how it feels and handles. I'd personally take it easy at first and find a place where you can just enjoy being on the bike and learning how you work together best.

It's true!! If those memories stick with you like that it means that you should be on a bike. Some people don't understand that and won't understand that, but it has been engrained in me ever since I started riding when I was 8. Some of the best memories I have with my parents or my wife and our kids have been on motorcycles and the places we have been with them.
Have you done any video on sprocket change pro and cons of different ratios. Be ready for a fire storm. A lot of people are very very passionate about the 14/50 sprockets
Not on swapping them out for different ratios. I know that the majority that want to get more top speed out the bike are running a 14/47 Ratio and the most popular for more torque are 14/52-55. I have the 52 tooth on one and the stock 50 on the other. But, I know what you mean about the them loving the stock gearing.
Hey I have a question how to ride the yamaha TW200E I have one my dad is riding it and he does not have time to explain to me how to ride it so I have been searching the whole internet to learn how to "drive" it but sadly I am not finding any video regarding my target search so please if you can help this will be amazing. Thank you
Hey Marc! The TW is great no matter what year. The only downside I have seen to the drum front brake is when riding through deep water. It evacuates slower than the disc and braking is harder when they are wet, but it isn't a huge difference.

Some folks have said that you can just reroute them and make it work, others have extended the cables. I'm not 100% sure.

have a new 2022,owners manual lists 5 grades of oil depending on temps, i will be useing the bike in temps above 50f,,,what grade and brand is the best?
Hey Brad! Sorry for the late response. The most common used in the TW is the 10W-40. That is what I run in mine and we've been 30 degrees and below for the last month and in the summer were at 100 and it has been working just fine for me.
You know, I wish I could tell you if you can or not? I know Bridgestone offers a few rear selections for it and folks are installing all kinds of 18" tires for the front.
Hey Kniife Noob! I have used this for all sorts of riding in all sorts of temps here in Utah and it hasn't been an issue yet. It is an air cooled machine though. Hope that helps!
So I bought a 1989 tw200 last week and I'm trying to register in my name DMV is giving me a hard time I live in California and the bike doesn't have no title. Any suggestions
Well, I do know that is a problem in California and each state really. From what I can gather it is a sometimes lengthy process to get it all straightened out. I am not too sure which way to go with that one.
Can’t find one to buy in Oregon or Nevada or Utah. In N. California and do not want to get one there. The govt will hound you about everything if you buy it there. Any ideas where to buy one - in stock?
Hey Michael! I ride my 2021 on the road all the time. It isn't great for highway speeds but for anything under 55mph I think you'd be good! Plus, the insurance on them isn't bad either. I'd say it's a great first time bike!
The closest is the TW225 (no 250 I afraid ) which I think was only released for the Japanese market but have been exported second hand, I have one in the UK with kick and electric start. Mat is one of the great sources of information on Tdubs.Suzuki do a similar bike but just a little more road focused, I own both and have done a comparison.
And a good comparison video at that!! There isn't anything like it right now. Suzuki had the Vanvan here in the US but disco'd in 2019. The TW is truly I. It's own class right now.

are there group rides of TW-200 owners in southern calif ?? big bear , arowhead area, barstow, red mountian areas ? got one on oroder now.
That's where Yamaha TDub Club was and I think Till Death Do Us Sport is out that way as well. They had a couple of rides that they have videos on.

They are sold out pretty much everywhere. Get your deposit on one as most dealership only get 2 or maybe 3. Most are pre-sold.
