  • It's been just over 10 years since 4079 Pendennis Castle was repatriated from Australia having spent 23 years of ownership under Hammersly Iron's parent company Rio Tinto Group. Following restoration since 2005 it is anticipated that the locomotive will return to steam within the next 2 or 3 years.
This is a re-upload with extra footage edited from the original .mpeg capture using Corel VideoStudio Pro X3.
The 'crop borders' feature has been used to eliminate the low quality capture particularly along the bottom of the video using AV to .mpeg capture. Previous edits using older software crops the borders but has had a negative impact on the quality of the final edit and subsequent upload. This particular edit has suffered low loss of image quality.

Absolutely superb looking back at this Historic moment Nigel. You've done an excellent job in capturing the images, and the processing to share with us is quite exceptional...Thanks for doing so...and a Happy New Year....Bob

Great to see Pendennis and Dryslwyn Casle together. As a relative newbie to the GWS I have never seen either in steam, nor 4079 in one piece. Hopefully she'll be out on the big railway soon and won't have too many problems like poor old 6023.

Pendennis will hopefully be returning before 2014, as that is when it's first railtour is booked. But as the project leader has said, it will not be rushed! If it's not done by then, it's not done. If a jobs worth doing, its worth doing well!
