  • Clips from a Channel 9 production on ex-Great Western Railway Castle Class 4079 "Pendennis Castle" and the Pilbara region, circa 1980s.
The locomotive was acquired by Hamersley Iron (Rio Tinto) in 1977. It arrived in Dampier in April, 1978 and made its inaugural run on 7 November, 1978. It was operated by the Pilbara Railways Historical Society with assistance from Hamersley Iron up until its boiler certificate expired in 1994. The loco suffered various issues however repairs were deemed uneconomical after ATP signalling was installed on the Rio Tinto network. An agreement was reached with the Great Western Society for the locomotive to be donated to the group and it shipped back to the UK in April 2000
