I like your perspective and strategies in knowing willingly when to release a situation or personal connection in order to free yourself of the negative weight on yourself and your outlook.
Many times it is demanded or we are told it is necessary for us to forgive in order to find peace and serenity in our lives. I'm not an adherent to that command or dogma and I think it is a protective measure that we must remember the person or situation that caused us harm and/or disappointment and take proactive actions. You can still be free and happy of it, but it is not necessary for us to forgive. There is a lot of religious pressure and gaslighting about this issue.
Otherwise you are giving the wrongdoer an easy pass without consequences to continue their wrong doing etc. and bad behaviors on you and others.
Don't be an easy or willing target.
Another angle to this is unexplained irritability and/or inappropriate anger reactions to innocent people and situations often are early warning signs of progressive dementia or mental disorders which have a high rate of occurrence in the over 65 population. Many seniors require antidepressants and mood stabilizers to be able to function appropriately socially and remain capable of performing the Activities of Daily Living to remain living independently.

Good point, move on without formal forgiveness statement to the offender, as a protective measure and not an "easy pass" to rude comments. I did that over five years ago because of a rude remark by someone. I ignore them in public.

When I start telling people about how good and powerful GOD IS, and they tell me that they don't believe in GOD, I will tell them to stay and listen to my testimony, and if they get up and leave when I tell them how GOD raised me from the dead, I really don't want them around ANYMORE!!!!!
