    I watched the video, excellent, and just used the porridge setting with 2 cu water and one 1 coconut/almond
    and 1 cinnamon stick. It all came out quite good on first try. Thank you.

    My Docs at DUKE tell me that Steel Cut Oats are a great way to start the day - your method looks good - thinking of adding some extras i.e., raisins, dried cranberries, walnuts, cinnamon and apple chunks and maybe banana slices. Duke suggests I not eat till lunch (brunch) and make it my main meal of the day, thus the thoughts re extras.

      Extras are great! I like to add chopped apple or pear and toasted pecans.

    To get my 93 year old mom to eat this kind of oats, I have to high pressure cook for 30 minutes then allow delayed, even natural release. You have to have really good teeth to eat these after 8!! minutes. They don't get as slimy as the stove top cooked, but the individual bits get more tender. I like that. It is almost impossible to overcook. (well its possible). I did cook in a bowl on a steaming rack with water in the bottom of the instant pot.

    I find it much easier to cook my steel cut oats directly in my bowl, in my instant pot. This way, you also don't have to grease the bowl either. Why clean two bowls? That bowl that she used would in the Instant pot fit perfectly with the trivet.

      I never thought about doing that. Thanks for the idea. In this case I made a much larger batch than just what would fit in the bowl I used at the end.

      I did hear somebody say that Prius said to not use the glassware in the instant pot so I guess getting a metal dish to put in as a serving dish would work well I really want to try that. So obviously we put water in the instant pot and then the trigger and then the bowl with the border and mixture in it I can’t wait to try that thank you

    i use about the same cook time, but it tightens when it's cold...i pack some to -go to my mom and she always has to add more water to heat it up to loosen it up....

    I would use the porridge setting and make changes from there. Did you know coconut oil is 98 percent saturated fat? People trying to eat healthy ought not use coconut oil. Thank you for sharing.

      The porridge setting would work too. There are many varying opinions on the healthiness of coconut oil. There are certainly alternatives.

    Does the oats stop cooking and natural release doesn’t cook them further?

    • @sehalla
      @sehalla 4 года назад

      They cook slightly during the natural release. That is taken into account when determining the cook time.

    How many cups of oats for a weeks worth?

    • @sehalla
      @sehalla 4 года назад

      If you want to eat oats every day for a week I would double what I do here. If you just want them a few days this should be fine.
