Dear Lowells since Riley’s sacrifice I had been thinking a lot, what the community can do, to avoid these horrendous attacks. We are still in shock, thinking in this heroic young man, with a big smile on his face, who as an angel or as the old knights had sacrificed his own life to save others. Around the world, he became a unique example of bravery, courage and gallantry. What in the UK happened could be a good example to avoid new tragic events like the one occurred on campus in North Carolina. “The Dunblane school massacre took place at Dunblane Primary School near Stirling, Scotland, on 13 March 1996, when Thomas Hamilton shot 16 children and one teacher dead before killing himself. It remains the deadliest mass shooting in British history. Public debate about the killings centred on gun control laws, including public petitions calling for a ban on private ownership of handguns and an official inquiry, which produced the 1996 Cullen Reports. In response to this debate, two new Firearms Acts were passed, which outlawed private ownership of most handguns in Great Britain.” Let’s start a similar campaign in the US; people must be aware that this continues killings must be stopped once and for all. Riley’s sacrifice will have a real meaning, in spite the loss of his so magnificent life. The NRA has more power than the Congress itself, but they cannot rule the country, the Second Amendment was approved in the years of the War for the Independence of the USA, but 230 years later, it doesn’t have any sense at all. Please no more sacrifices as the one of Riley, it is time to save lives not to lose more due to the cowardice of a few and the lobby of vested interests such as the NRA and accomplices. God bless you and the holy soul of your son and brother

I have no problem with honoring what Mr. Howell did in regards to his actions. But as a combat veteran with multiple deployments to both Iraq and Afghanistan, I really do not believe that he deserves a burial with full military honors. On my very last deployment, we lost ELEVEN MARINES due to enemy fire. Yes, what Mr. Howell did was most definitely heroic, but I do not believe that he deserves a military funeral. Perhaps an ROTC Honor Guard and have VIP's attend. That would be far more than a lot of fallen soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines receive....
