I wish someone would record his heartbeat and breathing patterns during shows like this. What this man's body can handle is amazing.
And in the meantime, Tomas is doing windmills with his both arms playing piano. They all are amazing!
I'm always amazed at not only the talents of the musicians, but also their ability to not get distracted from all the stage effects which have to be hard on the eyes and can make it really hard to concentrate.

I never liked the change of cymbals sound from paiste to Meinl. But now hearing them without sound mix have to say that the problem is on the mix. This cymbals cut throu very good.

As a drummer to me it's as clear as day how much better Kai is then Jukka - I just don't understand how so many people don't see this? The only thing that Jukka had was theatrics and stick twirls - from the pure perspective of keeping time and playing notes on time - Kai is just much better - and that's what drummers are supposed to do.
Also as far as technical aspects - what Kai was able to play in Wintersun - I don't think Jukka could play half of those songs.
Some days it reminds me of the Mike Portnoy vs Mike Mangini battle. I'd debate that Kai has better "feel" than Mike Mangini but after listening to an isolated drum track of one of the newer Dream Theater songs I appreciated more that Mangini has a TIGHT pocket and it actually grooves.

Yea it does seem like he does. Check the video were he plays stargazers. There you can see even more clearly. I don't know why he would do that.
I think his metronome asks him what time to keep. His left isn’t totally closed. It is a little open. If he did at his amazeball speed, he would cramp bad. I think he plays like that cause he is left handed and plays righty. He learns each dong right and left handed. Kai is insane. Not only he has killer consistent dbl kick, but he will open the high hat while doing the dbl kick!! Never seen anyone able to do that. Plus in this song and I think in Stargazers, he will go back and forth on both high hats. Check out 3:33.

Glad to see he's able to show his true talent at least a bit in Nightwish. Wintersun was far better at showcasing his insanity, though.
