I went to Singapore a few years ago for my friends wedding. Stayed at sentosa resort for a week. This was around the same time because the f-1 race was going on at that time.Singapore is a beautiful place. It’s basically a clean version of Hong Kong. Btw I love hk ! Since you guys are now located in S.E.A., try to come to Singapore and Malaysia (Penang and KL) because they are much closer to you now compared to when you were in JP and or to TW. So enjoy your next planned trip.
Wow, the scenery is out of the box clean. I actually thought at the start you guys were on a movie set where everything is perfectly in place. From the bike rides, I'll have to put Singapore on the list of places I can look to ride in. I watched your Taiwan vlogs and once there, I did some riding, but it was winter so no loop around the island. Next visit I'll get more adventurous, although around Taipei, it's just as bad as Vietnam, with the traffic and scooters. Glad it was a good trip for you two.
@@TwoWheelCruise In Taipei, its easy to get around with public transportation once you figure it out, but I noticed a lot of similarities, such as scooters used and parked on sidewalks, the honking, going backwards down streets and just the overall congestion. Now once out of Taipei, it's awesome. Mainly where I rode along the river away from traffic, I had no problem and felt more like my home rides. It definitely was a cultural shock my first visit to see so many scooters as a main option of transportation.

Japan used to have public trash bins unti the "地下鉄サリン事件" on the 20th of March 1995, then, it was decided that it was a possible place to hide "bombs", etc, and they were taken away for good. That's why you have to carry your garbage till you can dispose of it at your home or most likely a combini store.
Really loved this video adventure with you and Thuong. Thank you for sharing it. Singapore has always been one of the countries that I have wanted to visit in Asia. Have to admit the cycling infrastructure is outstanding. The food hawker courts looked fabulous. That airport though. first class.
Singaporean here, many just like to hog the shared path despite ringing bell 3 or 4 times. And many pedestrian know the existence of bicycle lane and know they are on it, they still like to walk on it instead on the walk lane.

You are lucky, now its rainy season so its cooler. The last couple of years are very hot and humid. Even local born and bred like me cannot take it. Another thing I wanted to point out is that pedestrians are not the king. There are several accidents happening as a result of vehicles not stopping at pedestrians crossing. So make sure the vehicle stop before you cross.
Nice to see you two in Singapore! Maybe next time, you can ask Mobot to arrange a meetup with local bike enthusiasts/your fans. It'll be win-win-win for all (Mobot, you two and fans). 😃
Thank you! 😃 We're hoping to visit Europe next Summer if Thuong can get a visa, but not sure if Singapore will be in our budget unfortunately. I was there briefly driving from the airport to Eurobike a few years ago for work though btw.
Singapore looks fantastic! Difficult to buy a house there, though, if you are a foreigner -- so I've heard. There are other island-nations with similar real estate policies, but Singapore has got to be one of the most livable, looks like. Apparently, Thuong likes to dance and has some impressive basic moves 🙂 Oh yes, her English is coming along very nicely. We get to know her better and can appreciate the way she complements your personality and adds to the experience of your travels. Looks like four different languages are spoken there. One of the reason why emission standards of cars are great because of the 10 years ownership permit (COE). That means after 10 years you have to pay again to drive the same car or buy new - which make more sense (e.g. there a monetary incentive scarp the car at 10 years, higher road tax for cars > 10 yo). Thus, newer cars are mostly on the road. The current going rate of a 10 years permit is about USD 77K. So a new Prius cost about USD 110K. Motorcycle permit is now about USD 8.5K. That's to reduce congestion in SG. Otherwise everyone can buy a car given our GDP per capita is about USD61K. Thus, the government invest a lot on the public transport. May not be perfect but that's the direction - less cars, more public transport, last mile transport like folding bikes.
@@TwoWheelCruise electric car have up to 20K up front tax reduction. Still expensive e.g. 125k for Tesla 3. And the government is slowly building infrastructure. It appears that you both have reached celebrity status😎. Have you signed any autographs yet🙂? Not wanting to put you on the spot, but have you had any thoughts of moving there? I know you mentioned that you were both thinking of moving back to Japan, but have you changed your thoughts now? After watching your videos, Singapore looks like a very good option. Haha no autographs, just photos. We are considering moving here. It seems pretty straightforward as long as you have a job that can sponsor your visa. It's better than Japan in some ways, more diverse so you don't feel like a stranger even if you live there 10 years and no earthquakes. It is really small though, so it might get boring once you're there long enough.
Thanks for coming to Singapore, Cruise and Thuong-san! I wanna return to Vietnam again~ edit: actually Lau pa sat is kind of a tourist trap 😂 Next time try the 2nd level hawker centre at Chinatown Complex, it's very near the Singapore River too
Looks like Singapore is a natural home for you guys. Unsolicited advice, consider creating a company based in Singapore - you can do it as a foreigner. Then your company can sponsor your own workpass or apply for the Entrepass. Good luck, hope to see you guys around town.
@@TwoWheelCruise you can always create the business entity but just keep living elsewhere while you slowly build it up. @@Dave4Kvideos Thanks for the info! I'll try to look more into it. We haven't done much with monetary sponsorships yet, but there is some potential there hopefully if we can make those connections.
@@TwoWheelCruise I've just created my own company in SG as a foreigner... but unlike you my tiny channel has absolutely nothing to do with how I'll ever make money haha. Good luck!
I believe the reason there are so many folding bikes is that regular road bikes are not allowed on public transit. Also, where are you staying? I heard rents are very high there.
I had also heard that it was an expensive destination. Out of curiosity, looked up the cost of living on Numbeo and that sentiment does seem to be true if one is intending to settle there for a while, but, I guess if you're just visiting, the expenses can be mitigated somewhat as you mentioned. But, it does look great.
Happy and relaxed night walkabout in Singapore, where you clearly had a great tine. If only you could find an employer to sponsor you to be able to move to such a prosperous, well organised place, with probably a more stable future than quite a few other Asian economies.
I've been to Hong Kong a few times. The food is good, but I didn't like how cramped everything is. They have also lost a lot of rights recently such as freedom of speech so it's not looking good.
HK and China got no future now. I ve lived in Wuhan, HK, BKK and Nanning before. All used to be very good. Nanning in particular is/was a beautiful city. Singapore will become more popular, even though it's a bit sterile and boring and over regulated. Other cities in the region like Sydney and emerging world cities like Brisbane are where the long term future is.
So cool they let people cycle on the sidewalks and that cars respect peds and cyclists. No wonder so many use folding bikes there which will reduce congestion and pollution from the roads.
when i first went to Singapore almost 2 decades ago, bicycles were technically not allowed on sidewalks. nowadays they've compromised to allow non motorised bicycles which is good because i recall a couple fatal accidents involving school students while cycling on the roads. motorists have also become more accepting of cyclists on roads especially after covid, perhaps because of the sheer number of ppl who took up the sport during the lockdowns; many of the motorists are cyclists themselves! impressive to see how quickly singapore's cycling infrastructure has evolved. just wished the weather was more conducive for daily commuting
By the way, I have just found out that the entire Marina bay complex is owned by an American casino and resort creation company from Paradise, Nevada !
@@TwoWheelCruise I live in Paradise, Nevada. It's an unincorporated city adjacent to Las Vegas. Actually, most of the major casinos are in Paradise and not Las Vegas. Most just say Las Vegas, not realizing they are in Paradise. I never knew until after I moved here. Oh, my mail is addressed to Las Vegas. Paradise was carved out to avoid paying taxes to the city of Las Vegas.
2:30 "...ride across parts of the country" Many of your viewers will not know that Singapore is only about 50 kilometers wide and even narrower than that. Ride across the country? I chuckled, sorry. 2:39 "...yesterday was a really hot day" SG is hot and steamy year round. 3:34 Affordability and food Yeah, food courts are still affordable. Go to a regular sit-down resto and get back to me.
There's basically two types of cyclists in Singapore - the road cyclists and the mountain bikers. My husband belongs to the later. If you hadn't already visited Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, they have a few cycling trails there as well as at Chestnut Nature Park. He sometimes goes over to Ubin to cycle as well.
@@GordoGambler commuter cyclists (those that cycle to work) are not common in Singapore as compared to Europe. As we don't have dedicated bicycle lanes on the roads yet (they are testing this now at the area where I live), they share the roads with cars and motorbikes. The PCNs are mainly used by the recreational cyclists.
@@cuclainne And road bikes are used by chicken sh!t riders afraid of actual traffic. LOL. My first trips to Hanoi, Saigon and Chengdu I rode cheap SS bikes. I had NO problem riding all over without whimpy bike lanes, in Vietnam. I would prefer Chengdu's layout to Europe and what TWC has shown of Japan and Singapore, any day. I ride my 3 IGH steel tour/ load comfort bar bikes anywhere and everywhere, sidewalks to freeway highways with thousands of semi trucks, where I seldom see anybody else. LOL. I took my Rohloff14 up Vietnam and into China in 2014/15. I do centuries on my 50 lb with SA 3 speed. EASY. I hate primitive deFaileurs. LOL. I wouldn't touch a flodder bike if you paid me.
People are like dogs, they want and need discipline. When you have strict and enforced rules, standards, and laws even in a multicultural society like Singapore, you get what you see in this video. Unfortunately our leaders in America are doing the polar opposite, and the results have been nothing less than a total disaster for our country.
It's probably a tongue in cheek question to begin with but some people might actually believe that this might possibly be true. It's not. Caning is a severe punishment meted out to only the most serious crimes. E.g. rape, drug trafficking, armed robbery etc.
It is a expensive place mind you. I am born here. It's getting ridiculously expensive. Perhaps money matter is not a problem for you but there are citizens actually struggling on a day to day basis. What you are seeing is the surface
I worked in Singapore from 1990 to 1993. Even then, the govn already targeted Switzerland standard of living, and prepared their citizens with the higher cost of living in Singapore. Salaries need to be high and that had nearly been achieved. But social security is non existent so income gap is high. Singapore should also copy Switzerland 's social security also, or else the high cost of living will be unsustainable. Worst, global competiveness forced native Singaporeans out of the job market. What is the point of all the high income if original Singaporeans do not benefit? Again, learn from Switzerland.
@@TwoWheelCruise Go and try the local food at the hawker centers or coffeeshops in the heartlands neighbourhood where the locals have their feed. Those you find in the central and the city area are really expensive.
If you choose to go restaurant and eat everyday,of course it will be expensive. For basic necessities and food,we are consider affordable. With inflation affecting around the world, this inflation doesn't just affect Singapore. Take Thaland and Malaysia for example,do you think their basic necessities are cheap? Yes,if you are earning sin dollars,if you are a working class in these countries, they are struggling also. On surface, they look good also,no? There's no perfect country, but to say is unaffordable here is quite a sweeping statement.
I know someone who was born and lives there and it is very expensive. He also told me that your car (which is ridiculously expensive) has to be recycled every 5 or 10 years. Meaning, you need to get a new car… that aside, it does look pretty and peaceful but I’m sure it has its struggles like any other country. Cheers from Tampa Florida to you two. ❤

I wanna return to Vietnam again~
edit: actually Lau pa sat is kind of a tourist trap 😂
Next time try the 2nd level hawker centre at Chinatown Complex, it's very near the Singapore River too
Thanks for the tip! We went there too 😋
Looks like Singapore is a natural home for you guys. Unsolicited advice, consider creating a company based in Singapore - you can do it as a foreigner. Then your company can sponsor your own workpass or apply for the Entrepass. Good luck, hope to see you guys around town.
Yeah, it felt natural right away. That would be a cool option, but I don't think we're making enough money for that route right now.
@@TwoWheelCruise you can always create the business entity but just keep living elsewhere while you slowly build it up. You've got a great channel going and I'm sure you can start building additional partnerships and opportunities. That's what's great about Singapore too, lots of people ready to do business. Heck, Mobot should work with you guys. Keep on rolling out the great content.
Good luck!
Welcome to Singapore
Thanks! 😁
I believe the reason there are so many folding bikes is that regular road bikes are not allowed on public transit. Also, where are you staying? I heard rents are very high there.
Yes, rent is very high.
The rent is more expensive, but the local salaries are also higher and many jobs provide a housing subsidy
You went back to Lau Pa Sat, the place you passed on your earlier ride to meet NiNiChiang!
Yep!
Nice video. 👍
Thanks 👍
Your vids were shared on some local cycling forums before.
Videos from before we came to Singapore?
@@TwoWheelCruise yes when you were in Japan.
It’s F1 weekend here in Austin as well.
Nice!
4:42 that's the street cleaner/janitor's bike
Happy and relaxed night walkabout in Singapore, where you clearly had a great tine.
If only you could find an employer to sponsor you to be able to move to such a prosperous, well organised place, with probably a more stable future than quite a few other Asian economies.
Keeping that option open if I can find a good employer.
Did you go to Hong Kong how does it compare?
Hong Kong is history. Singapore much better in so many areas.
@@ActiveAussie2024 ha you are kidding. Australians are the master of racism
I'm gonna miss your Singapore videos when you go back to Vietnam. That's for sure.
We filmed about a months worth of video in 1 week. We could go back to film more and it will be like we never left haha
Hope you enjoy SG take care
Thank you! 😃
You can do night cycling in Singapore so that weather is cooler.
Yeah, night cycling rocks!
You can try our trishaw ride, it's only for tourist.
Sounds fun!
Looks good. Would you consider moving the living there?
Definitely
👍
So cool they let people cycle on the sidewalks and that cars respect peds and cyclists. No wonder so many use folding bikes there which will reduce congestion and pollution from the roads.
Yeah, it's great! Big wide sidewalks and able to ride bikes away from the cars.
There's a constant battle between bicycles and motorized vehicles and pedestrians in Sg, just like in any other country. 🥲
when i first went to Singapore almost 2 decades ago, bicycles were technically not allowed on sidewalks. nowadays they've compromised to allow non motorised bicycles which is good because i recall a couple fatal accidents involving school students while cycling on the roads. motorists have also become more accepting of cyclists on roads especially after covid, perhaps because of the sheer number of ppl who took up the sport during the lockdowns; many of the motorists are cyclists themselves! impressive to see how quickly singapore's cycling infrastructure has evolved. just wished the weather was more conducive for daily commuting
nice video
Thanks!
By the way, I have just found out that the entire Marina bay complex is owned by an American casino and resort creation company from Paradise, Nevada !
Interesting!
2:30 "...ride across parts of the country"
Many of your viewers will not know that Singapore is only about 50 kilometers wide and even narrower than that. Ride across the country? I chuckled, sorry.
2:39 "...yesterday was a really hot day"
SG is hot and steamy year round.
3:34 Affordability and food
Yeah, food courts are still affordable. Go to a regular sit-down resto and get back to me.
Yeah, not many countries that you can cycle around within a day haha
If I am not wrong, Singapore is one of the best countries to make business... with a high quality of life.
Sure seems like it.
In Vietnam if you want to cross the road is kind of life challenge !
Just going outside is sometimes 😂
No, ebike and bicycle cannot go on to pedestrian walkway. It is illegal!
Come here in the Philippines
We want to go there!
Singapore ist serh schon
look like Singapore have everything in term of food. Chinese, Japanese, India, Malay, Western.
Yep, they do it all well.
I'm a mountain biker at heart, hope I have more time to check out some of the MTB stuff next time.
So what do you call Dutch bike riders?? Pfffft
@@TwoWheelCruise ☝️ Now you can really move to Singapore
Cycle by all means but please respect traffic rules and allow pedestrian usage on left lanes etc. keep to single file when cycling on road.
I did 7 months in prison in SG for dropping a banana peel. I got good at push ups!
Hahahaha... good one! 😀
People are like dogs, they want and need discipline. When you have strict and enforced rules, standards, and laws even in a multicultural society like Singapore, you get what you see in this video. Unfortunately our leaders in America are doing the polar opposite, and the results have been nothing less than a total disaster for our country.
People can adapt to most any environment, but yeah too much freedom can bring out a lot of bad sides of people.
If those side walk ways are in U$, I am sure it will be mostly occupied by homeless.
I remember many years ago (I'm 57), someone got caned for dropping gum on the sidewalk in Singapore. Is that an old myth?
Totally untrue.
a tongue-in-cheek 🤪 banana through the sewing needle eye. 😂
There are big fines for littering, don't think you'd go to jail though...
We spent more in this one week than we usually do for a full month 😂 Definitely cannot afford it unless we had higher paying jobs.
On surface,they look good also,no?
There's no perfect country, but to say is unaffordable here is quite a sweeping statement.
I know someone who was born and lives there and it is very expensive. He also told me that your car (which is ridiculously expensive) has to be recycled every 5 or 10 years. Meaning, you need to get a new car… that aside, it does look pretty and peaceful but I’m sure it has its struggles like any other country. Cheers from Tampa Florida to you two. ❤
