- The AirPods Max is one of Apple's most polarizing products to come out in a while. These Bluetooth headphones look good, feel good, and sound great, but are priced at a whopping $549 USD. So why would Apple make a pair of over-ear headphones so easy to love, yet so easy to hate? Why did Apple make the AirPods Max?

I wish I had seen your review before i ordered the AirPods Max. I tried them for a week and sent them back. All you said about them was exactly what I found them to be. I'm an iPhone 12 Pro Max and Macbook M1 Air owner so these headphones should have fit right in with my kit. Too much money and the ANC is no better than my Bose 35 II headphones. Plus, the Bose ($300.00) are lighter and more comfortable. Very good review.
Hope the 2nd gen is has even better design and pricing

I have a question - what are some alternatives to Airpods Max that have the same "Transparency mode" quality as the Airpods? I had Sony XM4 and had to send them back because the transparency mode was terrible and also only available to turn on manually from their app which takes so much time if I want to switch multiple times in an hour.
I always thought that the AirPods Max was a very confusing mix of design choices. Clearly not for those who aren't already invested in the ecosystem.

Even though Apple solely uses AAC they didn’t create it. However, they are among the best at encoding and decoding AAC, which is why the sound is so great when using an iPhone, even though the sound is really compressed. I’d still like to see an LDAC competitor from Apple, or some « Air » technology that could transmit audio at higher bitrates.
I am not an apple fan boy, nor do I use an ios device, but i still bought the airpods max for one reason, I wanted a pair of quality wireless headphones that are not made out of plastic and don't look too bulky, I dare anyone to come up with any better alternative to the airpods even though I hate saying it myself

I just want an all around great sounding headphones with noise canceling. It’s so hard to find that though. Just so I can have the convenience of plugging it in my gaming PC, and my iPhone.

I preordered one and got it after 2 months. And returned it after around two weeks usage. TBH don’t buy it cause clearly Apple have no idea what Headphone should be. There are tons of issue with this first gen product. The inside droplets issue are painful and their Genius Bar guy just straight told me don’t wear this outside. Then why am I buying a noice canceling headphone then? Overall just wait for next gen.
When should next gen be out?
I manually switch devices ALL the time!!! And it will auto-connect to my dormant iPad 3 feet away or even to my APPLE WATCH any time an insignificant sound plays on it. ALL THE WHILE I’M TAPPING ON MY iPHONE And clearly This is the audio output device I want. Just yesterday THREE TIMES while connected via Bluetooth it refused to output audio, and played via my iPhone speaker. Each time this occurred it required 1-2 hard resets on both iPhone and AirPods. Getting the annoying tutorial animation each time. I DO believe that Apple handles Bluetooth codec better than it’s competitors, BUT IT’S NOT PERFECT. And, just not quite “Magical”.

There’s a hidden eq settings in the sound settings under Headphone Accommodations
That’s not a real EQ it’s for those with specific hearing damage. It doesn’t even display a line graph with dots. Not an EQ. Don’t be misleading.

I know exactly how to feel about the AirPod max. With replacement built into the headphone scam and the super price tag that says “SUCKER” as some top exec at Big Tech not only lines his pockets but also place billions in activities and activism to tell you how you should live. The only logical way to feel is “F that.” A weeks worth of wages for most people Apple can suck it.

It's doesn't worth it, just not. $550 and no waterproof, dust resistance or any kind of protection. Disposable luxury.

It’s a good product if it would cost $349 but $549 that they are asking for it’s insane, only a person that haven’t tested the competition or an iSheep would pay that and find the price right.

When it’s physically 10x bigger than the $249 AirPods Pro, it can’t ~only cost $100 more. It hurts the luxury brand image.
Like how they rationalize it is, each ear-cup is equivalent to one 3-piece AirPods Pro. And you get the Stainless Steel band with custom fabric for free!!!!

the biggest weakness of AirPods Max is sound quality. They just sound sterile and muffled.
