Anime Expo 2022 was a disaster

I first went to AX in 2003 and the convention has literally been getting worse every year. I stopped going after about 15 years or so. I don't miss it at all. Hard pass forever.

This is a great video! In my opinion, I don't think it's worth going to anime expo anymore. I went to AX 2022, and it was the worst convention I went to that year and the worst anime expo Ive ever been to, and I have been going ever since 2013. It is just not the same anymore. It's WAY too crowded, and they don't cap tickets! I can't even move around inside and outside the convention! And good luck trying to wear any costumes in there... everything was gated and/or closed. Lines were everywhere, and it takes them forever to move. They NEED to cap tickets cause it's ridiculous. San Diego comic con (my first convention ever) is way better at management than AX. More than half of the attendees weren't wearing masks, which is soo disgusting!! The prices for the tickets are insane! $140+ for 4 days? And $90+ for one 1 day?!?! Back in 2016 (which was the best AX for me), an AX 4 day pass was $55!! I wish I didn't go to AX 2022. It's not worth it! I am so embarrassed that I went 😖 I miss AX before it got way out of hand.

yes i really miss the old anime expo :') The 4 day pass was cheaper and it was more breathable! i hope they do make some changes because this year's was insane 🥲

I went to Animecon91 and Anime Expo 92 back when they were in San Jose. We were a much smaller knit group back then. Anime was not mainstream yet. The toughest event to get in was the dealers room when it first opened on opening day but you could eventually get in after an hour or so. I miss those days. I don’t even like how big Fanimecon had gotten over here. I’m going to stick to smaller local cons like YumeCon.

anime expo started going down right around 2010 before it was the hype then the ceo or one of directors destroyed it and ran off all the volunteers off and then the corporate side moved in and that's what you have now which is why you won't see and og's going there anymore which is sad
