Having rescued and towed a broken down boat through Langstone Harbour and back to the slipway he departed from (about 4 miles) yesterday (and I’m just a private boat owner) you would be amazed at the lack of preparedness by a significant percentage of water users. From the recent Bournemouth masses to those who buy a boat through eBay and think “it’s got a wheel and throttle - it must be the same as my car...” Perhaps those should pay to take training and make themselves less likely to be a statistic? Or you can suggest to your MP that a small percentage of harbour dues, mooring fees and marina income should be apportioned to the RNLI.
