ALL your how-to videos are OUTSTANDING, only problem is...I don't have the $100,000 in tools, equipment & work garage you have. But, still very valuable to learn everything without missing any details.
Absolutely! Same here. I’m very fortunate to be sponsored by some amazing companies. They’ve definitely made it possible for me to continue this journey. You will get nothing, but straight forward, no BS, to the point installs from me. I absolutely appreciate the support from all of you, because you too, make this possible. Thank You 🙏🏽
I just saw a video on a Cam install. It was nothing like your videos. I’m sure it takes twice if not three times to do such detailed videos. I really appreciate all the detail you put I to these Vlogs. Thank you. They are a huge help.
Long time rider, new subscriber. These are some of the best tech videos I've see, you do a great job explaining and demonstrating exactly what you're doing. Thanks very much, ride safe, Semper Fi!
New sub! I like the way you used the bucket lined with a bag to catch the debris and oil. Never too old to learn new tricks! Thanks for the video! Going to change out the lower forks to chrome soon this winter. Don't care much for the factory finish, Bugs are eating it away. I was considering repainting them and spraying some chip-seal on them to see if that would hold up better. Thanks again for the video work. You did a great job making it an easy project. Keep up the good work.
I was searching the RUclipss for RS-1F videos and came across yours. Great video! Makes it easy, now I need to get my set of RS-1F. I've been waiting a long time to match with my RS-1 rears.
Excellent job, excellent video. You are my #1 when it comes to install videos. I'm building out my 21 RGS with a lot of the parts that you're using and now contemplating front and rear suspension. You gave me additional options to think about. Thanks!
Great video as usual. You should do a series on detailing your bike. It's always spotless in your videos. I'd love to see some of the products you use.
Great video Raider! Once again you’re costing me money. Lol. I bought the RS1 rear shocks over a year ago and agree: it makes a huge diff. Now it’s on to the front! Thanks brother and ride safe! 👍
I really enjoyed this video. Very informative. Very interesting. I had my 19CVO RG done with legend suspension. Night and day difference from the stock junk. Keep em coming. Can't wait to see the next one. Stuart.
Great job of A to Z install here. I gotta say…watching the ride on the roads, nothing like our crap Michigan roads around Metro Detroit. I’m torn between the RWD for the front or the Ohlins cartridges. I had the Russ W. Rear shocks, they were really good. I liked my Ohlins better in being honest. Great video and instructions, appreciate it!
Thank You! I have some roads that are bad, but not many. Ohlins is a good brand too, just wanted to try something new. I’m definitely a fan of RWD now.
I was amazed the pinch bolt would hold that axle for the 70-75lbs ft of torque. on my 21 street glide I'm just able to sneak a poking tool in to adjust them after putting it all together
Greetings Brother You do a really good job explaining things step by step. Seems you're either a teacher or a mechanic. Great job, I always enjoy your videos. Peace ✌🏼
WARNING: ERROR IN THIS VIDEO. I just installed a set of RS-1F of my 2016 Street Glide. This video was a huge help, HOWEVER at 15:52 there is a huge mistake made. You should NOT install the upper bushing and the fork seal in one step. The bushing should be installed first, then the seal separately. Installing the upper bushing and seal in one step as shown here puts unnecessarily destructive force on the seal. The correct procedure is to insert the upper tube into the lower, place the upper bushing in place where it will seat into the lower fork housing, then put the washer on top of the upper bushing with the bevel facing the upper bushing. 2) use the slide hammer to gently press the upper bushing into place.
(Continued) Use short, light hits until you hear a "solid" sound. It will sound differently when seated fully. Also, be sure to have the lower housing on the ground or a very stable workbench. when doing this. Pull up the slide hammer and the washer and inspect the upper bushing to assure it looks correct and fully seated. 3) remove the slide hammer, slip the fork seal onto the upper tube assuring the numbers are up, facing you. Put the slide hammer back onto the tube and once again use short light hits until you hear a more solid sound. Check to see that the retention ring seat is clear, then install the retention ring. I hope this helps!
Having a hard time deciding between RWD and Legend... Both front and rear. I had front legend axeo on my fxdls and they were good, rough though. My 2018 road glide special needs new front kit for sure
@@RAIDERWORLD Thank you for getting back to me. I'm interested in the DKCustom NEXGEN suspension system , or the Legend air ride A - huge cost differences .
Great video!!!! That original HD pre-set preload looked to be about 40mm? Typical HD shortcut, instead of a high quality spring with pre-set of 20mm HD installed a cheap spring and then compressed the hell out of it! This has been a longtime cheap remedy for soft inferior springs. The RWD pre-set looked to be about 20mm, which is an indication of a quality spring.
Thank You! I definitely appreciate the support 🤟🏽 I went with Standard here. I do suggest calling them, or email them your standard loadout and weight. They will get you dialed in for your exact riding style. Thank You again
I’ve watched this video a couple of times and I’m thinking of going with these front forks for my ultra my 17 ultra. How are you still like it I’m on your road glad from others I have seen these look to be the easiest to install.
Installed on my 15 flhx. I find them uncomfortable, I feel every bump in the road. Adjusted all the way left and all the way right with no difference. Any ideas?
You are still going to feel the bumps. No suspension will ever get rid of that. This Front suspension hones more into the front end dive and cornering. If it’s really bad, I would definitely contact Russ Wernimont Designs
Did you happen to go with the comfort or performance.Even though I have a Road Glide I still want performance but don't want crappy hard ride. Most of the time I'm just riding regular. I like how these have adjustment but not too many. Plus they're made in USA and not like a "O" company owned by Yamaha
Absolutely! What’s great about these is that they offer both. Since this is my everyday rider, I obviously went with a comfort ride setting. But there is plenty of room for adjustment on the performance side. And yes, Made in America is always a plus 🤟🏽🇺🇸
All depends how many miles you have on in. I always suggest changing out the seals, because once you separate that seal from it being set for so long, it could ruin the integrity. And you’re already in there, so it leaves the worry out.
Hey dude awesome video! Check out Big Bear Performance’s gauge relocation kits for your Road Glide if your interested in being able to adjust the fronts without removing things. When i did the front ohlins Nix 22 fks 228 I couldn’t adjust them unless i removed the bars! So i ended up installing risers and relocating the gauges to the top of the Radio and let me tell you, being able to adjust the front suspension on the fly is a game changer!!

Thank you! I was able to do mine with no problem once I got the correct tools.
That’s awesome! It definitely helps when you have the proper tools.
Super in depth vid bro, now I need to upgrade my suspension, front end diving is getting bad already at 9k miles.
Thank You! I appreciate it. It makes a huge difference
Whoot dude. Glad you did this one. It’s on my list!! Smart move on doing one at a time and using the axle for alignment and support

Michael can you comment on the ride? Very harsh or more comfy than you'd think? Thanks!
@@robertdepaul1275 they're extremely comfortable. I don't recall many, if any, groaners from taking hard hits. If that makes sense.

Hey raider phenomenal videos your doing! What was the biggest difference you noticed when you put the rwd rs1f in?
Thank You! I definitely appreciate it. I noticed the biggest difference with cornering, and twisties. Just a smoother ride
Excellent review!!!!! Much appreciated!!!!!!

Does this system apply to the 2023 tri-glide...!!
I believe the 2023 Tri-Glide models have a different front suspension now. I would contact Russ Wernimont Designs to confirm.

@@RAIDERWORLD Is it required to totally disassemble the strut to do this? Can I just remove the guts from strut and insert the cartridge? Thanks
Nice video. Is that bottom bolt a 12mm or 14mm?
Thank You! So the Top fork nut is a 19mm Hex and the bottom drain plug/damper tube screw is a 12mm Hex
Gotta be a pain to adjust on an SG
We will soon find out on the new project. But I can definitely see it being a little more challenging than the road glide
Are these steps and fork oil amounts the same for the dyna cartridge?
I got a set on a bike I bought and would like to refresh them.
I would probably contact them directly. I’m pretty sure the Dyna Cartridge is different
I just did my rear suspension last week (Screamin Eagle Öhlins). Is the front worth the time and money?)
