    Outstanding video. Everyone wants to do the 82nd and 101st re-enactments. Have you ever thought about doing a re-enactment of the 221st Airborne Medical Company from the 11th Airborne Division in the Pacific. One of the few Airborne units to have enemy Airborne dropped on their hospital position. The 11th AB also has a history equal to the 101st. One of their most notable was the Los Banos Raid saving a large number of civilian POWs. It didn't make the papers because a Marine flag raising was on the front page. The movie "The Raid" was about the Rangers saving military POWs and the Los Banos raid was almost a duplicate only saving civilians. The medics played an important part in helping the civilians recover from the Japanese neglect.

    Great book, mentioning medics from time to time.

    I only have one addition. Stuff the shit out of all of your pockets. Just add more and more until you look like a walking foot locker. Just add as many personal items as possible. Since you’re doing DDay they would have had anything and everything

    You have just restored my faith in re-enacting a medic. So far almost every single medic I have ever seen has been... well frankly put... f'in awful. However this is really good. Because of my known hatred of medic re-enactors one of the guys in my unit asked me to review your video. I did, and was so pleasantly surprised. Great job! Only two things I would improve on.
    1. please loose the parachute scarf. Its just so over done and ruins your impression and makes you look like one of 'those guys' and not someone who actually has a fantastic impression.
    2. Your piping on the garrison cap should be light blue for infantry. Your in an infantry unit, medics in infantry units are still infantry. If you were from a medical unit, like 326th Abn Medical Company attached to the 101st, then you'd wear medical piping. If your a medic from the 101st, then you'd wear infantry piping. I only used 101st units to explain as I know FA about the real specifics of the 82nd.
    Great video, great impression, you have restored my faith!

    Two units that both work together in my area (Charlotte NC) are the 82nd 505th PIR and the 307th Medical Services. I would like to do an impression such as you what you have laid out in this video plus perhaps a Doctor impression with the 307th. With that being said, any specific websites or forums you used to acquire your equipment? Looks great! I’ve subscribed and will be following your impression. Thank You in advance!

      Thanks for watching Michael! As far as where I acquire my equipment, a lot of it is just hunting eBay for original equipment In good condition, and purchasing from sites like at the front and WWII impressions, there are a few Facebook groups I follow, like "ww2 gi reenactor help page" that offer help with piecing together the little things. I'll be posting a lot more in depth videos here shortly, work has just been busy.

      Sadly North Carolina barely has any WWII reenacting groups from what I have seen. Which is a shame cause it is a hobby I'd really love to get into.

    Hey I just bought my Musette Bag and I was wondering what type of straps you use to use the actual bag because mine didn’t come with one (It’s authentic)

    • @DapperDoughboy
      @DapperDoughboy  5 лет назад

      For the Musette bag, you take the two short straps on the bag and clip them to the D Rings on the Suspenders, besides that, there's not any other way to wear it besides using a GP Strap to turn it into a satchel. Hope this helped!

    Airborne medics did not use only one bag

    • @DapperDoughboy
      @DapperDoughboy  5 лет назад +4

      They did. They used a single bag with rigger made medical bags to supplement their equipment. Were there Airborne medics photographed with one bag? Yes, were they front line combat medics? Almost never.

    • @thecivilwarsoldier6498
      @thecivilwarsoldier6498 5 лет назад

      Freeze_Ice 2005 it was more or less personal preference, but they mostly wore one bag with the m36 combat suspenders. Unlike ground infantry, who wore medic yoke suspenders.
