I'm not a reenactor but I wanted to see what it was like to walk in hobnails and see how this older technology worked in the field. Hiking with them couldn't be better for me. They never hurt my feet or create blisters, issues I've had with modern trail boots. No indoor or hard ball waking though. Great review.

AEF supply back in the 90s had some quality items only problem if you ordered a custom uniform the wait time was close to 2 years!😂

I hate how you can’t criticize wpg but I also wish the fit was tighter

    $180 is a premium?
I pay $200 minimum for my American made Thorogood, Chippewa and Justin work boots without blinking.

I’ve got a pair of Iron Rangers and other boots I use for work. But the difference is that you live out of work boots, these are for a hobby and occasional wear

Yeah but still bro. I wish there was boots like lederarsenal for American Great War historians. These boots are missing some features of og’s. I’ve done a fair amount of research and there’s no where on the market where 100% accurate reproductions are available. It’s sad.

Are these the repros? How did you get them looking nice and brown?

This kind of boot was designed to be "dubbed" meaning a type of waterproofing grease is spread into it. This causes it to become darker, but it also makes it last longer.

I agree, these thing are LOOSE. You could swell up your foot and it still be a slip and slide!

I've been seeing puttees with a lot of wwi American impressions, but did they ever wear their gaiters with their combat uniforms? (Just wondering because I found some wwi American gaiters on WPG)

As far as I'm aware, puttees were only worn overseas, with gaiters being the norm stateside. Could be wrong, though.

Shoe soles have to be replaced. No boot's sole lasts forever and leather especially short

@@DapperDoughboy so is this what ww1 soldiers had to deal with uncomfortable, loose fitting boots like these?
