Actually here's a better album for you to check out: 4eva is a Mighty Long Time by Big K.R.I.T. One of the best hip hop double albums of all time imo. Kinda similar to Mach-Hommy's Balens Cho where the first half is more flossing and the second half is more introspective, but it's obviously a lot longer. He handles his own soulful production. A lot of jazz influence which you may not like, but listen to a song like Justin Scott if you want to see his production shine through.

First time viewer. New subscriber. I am 43 and I feel like we fit in the same box in most regards when it’s comes to hip hop and it’s evolution. I definitely was a grumpy old man at one point, wondering what happened to the good hip hop but honestly there has always been a segment of artists still dedicated to the traditional art of hip hop with intricate lyrics and wordplay. They just are no longer the face of hip hop and I learned to accept that. Like you, I never got into Gangstar. Loved Primo’s production but I never attached to Guru for whatever reason. Where we differ is that I have been a huge Nas fan from day 1. I do think he hit a lull at some point where I would love certain songs but not the entire project. With that said, I absolutely love Magic. It’s a classic.
check out 'heaven's ep' j cole is rapping over drake's 'pipe down' beat, he comes off as so humble and honest on it. also he dropped a song last year called 'snow on the bluff' and it might one of the most misunderstood songs I've heard in a long time, it caused a lot of controversy but it's absolutely beautiful and painfully honest
Yes, but it was mainly on Twitter. If they had gone to her timeline they would have realized that what Cole saw on her timeline would make Black men, young and old, want to beat her up. Most of the reviewers on RUclips loved the song. I saw grown men tearing up and about 3 actually crying. That was a healing song and Cole was the total opposite of what they accused. I just chalked up the twitter comments to be just ignorance and hatred. I wasn't worried about Cole being cancelled. There are too many educated people and fans of Cole to allow that to happen off something so misunderstood.
Excellent review, quite a fresh perspective. I'd suggest you review the Organised Konfusion album, Equinox. A fabulous and ornate project with Monch and Po giving it their absolute best. Quite a defining underground hip-hop project. Would love to hear your thoughts on the album.
I got an ad for a pluming company at the end of the video with this really loud like horn heavy chord, that sounds like it would play at the very end of a movie with fox logo, but I wasn’t looking at my phone and I thought it was just part of the end of the video. But it made me think, what if at the end of every video there was just like a bit of horns like bumm bumm bumm buuuuummmm bum, it would require a bit of editing but it would be amazing
the laundry song is called 'foldin clothes' you should check out the title track off that album and 'neighbours' I don't think it's his best record as a whole but those 2 are right up there with some of his best tracks imo. Later he dropped 4 your eyez only and I didn't get it at first but I saw the beauty in it years later. He also famously performed the song live at an award show with the em clones walking down through the audience.
