- This audio file was recorded at the UNCF benefit 30th Anniversary "An Evening of Stars" 'Tribute To Patti LaBelle' that took place at the Kodak Theatre Los Angeles on Sept. 13, 2008. I used a tiny digital recorder from the 'sweet spot' in the 2nd Tier Mezzanine! There was no videotaping allowed...
The Evening was taped and broadcast on BET, WGN-National, and other local channels on JAN. 24 & 25, 2009. This (and my other YT vids) are the only full recordings available of each performance that evening, b/c the broadcast show was highly edited.

This is the second of Fantasia's performances at the Tribute, and she knocked this one out of the ballpark also. During this song she had everyone including Patti LaBelle in a trance. She's an awesome singer and performer!

Hi, I'm Lauri and I recorded this.. So glad you like it! The whole reason I posted it (and other great performances from that evening) was because everything was so edited for the TV broadcast, and no one else ever posted the full audios for every song..
Sorry for all our hootin' and hollerin' but we were just so blown away by what we were witnessing..
By the way, she was saying "I love you Patti" over and over..

i just watched the video and had to come watch the audio and i'm speechless...this gurl is beyond talented. its not a word for her gifted and talented she is. and pattis reaction at the end of this performance said it all..
The quality of this recording is fantastic. Fantasia sounds better than ever. Even her screaming is in tune. This,as with so many of her performances,will go down as legendary.
I was mad too. I was so looking forward to the full performance, and they cut out the best part when she was about to start wailing on the stage floor.... still mad, but greatful I got to record it!

I don't think anyone got the entire performance of any song on video b/c they were extremely rigorous of examining everyone who went to this taping...
I managed to smuggle in this digital audio recorder only b/c it's so tiny...
It took me years to figure out the performance was edited (idk why) and I only figured it out one night when I was h*** and i was also question the background vocals because whoever that was was SANGING but I appreciate this a lot
Fantasia is definitely a new legend, I said as much when she was still on Idol, she has a once in a generation kind of voice and it doesn't matter what happens in music or her personal life, no one can take her legend status away
I love Tasia I check youtube every week to see any new performance with her, thank you for the video, please keep showing all of Tasia performance.

That's what I love about her. She is years ahead of her AI alumni, talent, stage presence, grace, and the "it" personality to match. She can do it all and she's going to rock TCP movie I just know it!

SHE DID THAT!!!! but then again...tasia is undoubtedly one of the best entertainers as far as talent and putting on a hell of a performance EVERY time she hits the stage
I went back to look at this feed again, thinking something may have went wrong; however ! same old thing. Fantasia Barrino, is definitely one of America's best and favorite entertainers, and someone with her type of showmanship, one would definitely appreciate a live performance.... Luther Vandross, Prince, Cameo, Peter Frampton, Parliament Funkadelic, it's performances like these, that you've rather see " Live " and that's just because they're fantastic at what they do.
This tribute is simply.....HOTT 2 DEF!

Can't hurt to repeat that we were all completely blown away by how extraordinary Fantasia was that evening...
(frankly I had been disappointed by her performance on Am.Idol this year, so that made her two songs at Patti's Tribute that much more amazing for us to witness!)

I could careless what you think of me. Have you ever even heard me perform? Who are you? Can you even sing at all? Then again, do I even care? NO, not really. Nuff said.

I made these recordings and have listened to all performances dozens of times.. each time I still can't believe what an amazing night that was..
Ms. Patti inspired every performer to do their best, esp. Fantasia - incredible!.. (btw, sorry for all of our screaming!)

What else is there to say about this woman, she's Patti,Aretha,James Brown for the 21st Century . In the future people will be comparing the greats to Fantasia not the other way round

Besides the "more info" section in upper right box which gives you lots of details about that evening, there's a slide starting at Minute # 1:30 which tells u that the UNCF Tribute will be broadcast on Jan. 24 & 25th, 2009 (on BET, WGN-National, and other local channels..)
I made these recordings, and even though we were there, we're still looking forward so much for that broadcast in January- so we can see it all over again, especially the close-ups of Ms. Patti and her great reactions!
