- This is a Video Illustrating how to disassemble the top end of a GY6 150cc (157QMJ) in preparation for a BBK (155cc - 58.5mm) and a 4 valve head.
I want to make a note, In the video I say you can use the same 90 link chain. You can NOT. The 4 valve head is taller than the stock head and requires a 94 link chain. So, You must either split the crankcase and completely disassemble the engine, or break the chain and add links.
Very good video! Very thorough and easy to follow along!
You're a life saver. Thanks for the video.
Mr ur great, know matter how life drags me down or how women depress me and broke I become. And how all the other types of videos I'm subscribed to become like three stooges re runs .your videos wake me from hell charge my want and needs to carry on . If ya asked me for twenty bucks I would give it and more if I had it .
Love the videos Dean. I have a 150cc . I'm slowly upgrading the transmission and other small upgrades. Your videos help me decide what to get next. I'm thinking about a big bore kit next.
Nice video love the background music
@ 21:00, it's a wrist pin, in the piston, and rod,
21:20 it's called a wristpin or gudgeon pin.
Is anyone else picking up the whistling ? 😂👍
Thank you for good video. Liked and subscribed !!!!! Keep them coming buddy.
At 21:20, that "connecting rod thing" is not the connecting rod - it's the wrist pin, or if you're in England, it's the gudgeon pin.
Many many tnx
Hi Daniel! havent seen any vids from you lately...
9:32 DEEZ NUTZ LOFL
Very nice gy6 engine., I have questions to you it is normal my gy6 jet power engine oil become dry or lost I'm monitoring the oil
Thanks, very helpful!
I'd like to build a 2-cylinder,4-valve, 63mm bore, with about a 40-50mm carb, and 2 into 1 exhaust with 1.5-1.75" muffler. 180° firing,
thanks man. this helped alot
thanks I did learn
Do you measure the gap of the spark plug? Does it comes already measure? What's the measure of the gap on a 157 qmj engine?
Man good video
thanx for vid.. I'm doing same exact build. did you use stock chain guide or longer?
i might have to replace my cylinder head i stripped the spark plug. so do the steps to take off the head only i assume.
i did it without removing the head. i put a new motor in 2 months ago.
Kevin Stearns did you do it with the head in situ and tap and hellycoil then either vac or air line out the small shavings and the tip of the hellycoil I have to do this in two days any help would be appreciated
Is that Scotty Kilmer?
has anyone had the timing chain come off the crank side?
i was installing a new head and piston kit ,and when i pulled the chain threw the jug it came off and for the life of me i cant seem to get back on, its an asw 1150 /gy6
i dont want to have to pull the engine.
any tips on how to get it back on?
How do knw a scooter timing is off?
thnk you
you're welcome
Dowels

Wrist pin
dan, have u tried a tri pod for your camera? any way im with u about impact drills thats all i use.
hey guys go back and listen in the background sounds like he's watching Fast and the Furious LOL
Johnson Robins so funny cuz i heard lil wayne back there
Why remove the head studs?
My GY6 engine needed the chain guide to be replaced..I just wanna know how it has to done.
Take the head and jug off once you do separate the head and jug take off the head gasket the bottom chain guide is locked between the head and jug by the head gasket the bottom guide should come out once you pull the jug remember put a new head gasket back on it once you torque the head the gasket seals and flattens so if you try to reuse it it might not get compression
My timing is off aswel it lines up to an arrow on flywheel instead of the T mark
I'm starting to think maybe my cam on my 50/81cc I did my second bbk. And it will not start, it fires through the intake and exhaust, I have taken it apart, and re-set the timing marks so many times, it's an unknown short block, I pulled my bbk, used the jug with new piston, and head, I'm starting to think the marks are off or something, I have built many car engines, but can't get into the plug hole to see where the piston is , the frame being in the way, so I'm going to remove it again, I was even thinking maybe the chain was off the crank, it's enough to make ya want to burn it down!
good vid but your whistle does my head in
and what is the measurements for the valve adjustment?
4 thousands
do you have any videos for replacing a 150cc gy6?
No, I don't think I do, but it is beyond simple to do an engine swap.... Unhook the wiring, unhook air filter from carb then remove the bolts connecting the shock to the motor and lastly, remove the main engine bolt.... It's more hassle removing the plastic than it is the actual engine swap.
Sorry I am not trying swap engine. I need to take off the clutch. Any suggestions?
I'm pretty sure I have videos installing the clutch... Just reverse the process...
In short, clutch removal is simple - Remove CVT cover grab the middle of the belt and squeeze, this will pull the belt into the pulley and allow you to remove from the variator, then remove the clutch and clutch bell with one nut.
Taking the clutch apart is a much more involved and complicated process... You should not attempt it without professional help - It is under spring pressure and if you remove the wrong nut without keeping tension, it will shoot off and smash whatever it hits.
9:33 these nuts lol
Man my bike sounds like it shoots through the exhaust when under the speed, what do you think is the carburetor or the piston?
