    Hollywood Hills area:
The Hollywood Hills, perched above Los Angeles, exude luxury and scenic beauty. Home to upscale residences and offering stunning views of the city, it's an iconic and sought-after neighborhood. For a free and convenient vantage point of the Hollywood sign on weekdays (excluding holidays and weekends), the best place to park is on Ledgewood Drive, near the corner of Ledgewood Dr & Rockcliff Dr. Once there, the lush residential neighborhood offers a tranquil atmosphere, with winding roads and elegant homes lining the hillsides. As you ascend Rockcliff Dr. going towards Deronda Dr., the view expands, revealing the Hollywood sign. This upscale residential area makes it a hidden gem for both locals and visitors seeking an authentic Hollywood experience.
    Rockcliff Dr & Deronda Dr.:
The Hollywood Sign hiking trail is exceptionally well-hidden, likely obscured to preserve the serenity of the area. At the beginning of Deronda Dr., the final stretch to the hike, a dead-end sign and several barriers are placed on the road, creating an illusion of nothing beyond. Once atop Deronda Dr., a large gate with "No drone" and "No hiking to Hollywood sign" warnings might further discourage exploration. However beyond it, a breathtaking panorama unfolds, revealing the city of Los Angeles and its surrounding mountains. This covert trail effortlessly transitions from urban landscapes to pristine nature, offering glimpses of opulent residences along the way.
What's remarkable about this location is its proximity to the Hollywood Sign; it truly feels like you are only moments away from being able to touch the sign. Also, because it’s not as well-known as other viewing locations, it has a very tranquil feel, even though a few tourists can be seen here and there. Moreover, the breathtaking views of the city, especially on clear days, provide a panoramic glimpse of the entire city landscape. Serving as the starting point for the hiking trail leading behind the Hollywood Sign, the trail features a distinctive water tower structure crucial for fire prevention in the hot California summer. Along with offering excellent viewpoints of the hiking trails, this secluded spot becomes an ideal haven for peaceful moments amid nature.
Looking at the dessert vegetation is always magical including all the hills surrounding the hiking trail. This hiking trail has a paved road for most of the way so feels less like nature but still has enough greenery to feel fun. Mt. Lee Summit Hike
Embarking on the Mt. Lee Summit Hike offers a unique experience with its paved trail and enchanting California desert-like vegetation lining the path. Despite the trail being paved for most of the way, the magical allure of the surrounding hills and the unique desert flora creates a captivating atmosphere. The juxtaposition of the paved road and the natural greenery adds a touch of adventure, making it a fun and accessible hiking option for those seeking a balance between urban convenience and natural beauty.
Going up the Mt. Lee Summit:
This hike provides a refreshing perspective, unveiling another side of the city with the San Fernando Valley, filled with many residential streets as well as many of the big movie studios that made Hollywood a worldwide phenomenon. The hiking experience in California is truly extraordinary, given the multitude of trails, making exploring all of them seem practically impossible. The view from the trail includes the 5 Freeway below, a testament to the constant movement in the bustling city. Certain sections of the Mt. Lee Summit trail offer glimpses of the San Fernando Valley, while turning around reveals the striking Downtown LA skyline on the other side. This is truly a unique view that other trails in LA don’t offer.
    Fence around Hollywood sign:
Even though there's a large fenced area with vigilant security cameras behind the Hollywood sign, restricting access to the actual letters, the view from this vantage point is interesting and reveals the Hollywood Reservoir, a gorgeous expanse of water. Additionally, the sight includes the Griffith Park Observatory, offering elevated perspectives of the city and the homes lining the streets. Adjacent to the iconic sign is the Mount Lee Radio Transmitter, completed in 1939 and once the world's highest elevation television transmission tower. Today, it is owned and operated by the City of Los Angeles. The Hollywood sign's letters are truly large and prominent, creating a captivating sight for those who venture up the hiking trail.

Thanx for an another virtual trip man! :) I wonder, did You see any wildlife in the area? Or are animals as rare these days as celebs without hoodies and sunglasses? ;)
BTW, now that You've posted this hiking video, i've started reminiscing about rockclimbing in the area, don't know where we did that, but i remember that there was this "wall", quite popular with local enthusiasts, even professional mountaineers, so maybe this could be an idea for a new David story? ;) That is if You like such activities, but it's just that it is one of those La-to do attractions people don't realy know about, so perhaps You would be willing to cover that :)
Other canyon and rocks oriented activity i keep thinking about is horseriding in LA, can't recall where did we ride on them, but i guess it would be interesting to showcase it on Your channel:)
So that's two suggestions out of my head. But if You and Your camera would like to take a break from nature, and explore a bit of concrete jungle, then my old neighbourhood of Melrose, Fairfax, Beverly Bld, Beverly Center, La Cienega etc, is the place i would realy love to see trough Your eyes :)

Hi, sorry for late reply. With the holidays it's been a busy period. No, I did not see any wildlife but on other occasions in different parts of those hiking trails I did see snakes, coyotes, deers, rabbits, and skunks so you definitely can bump into some friendly wildlife (as long as you don't disturb them). I think I know about the wall you are talking about. It's a Pointe Dume in Malibu. I will look into making a video about that area eventually. I have an older car so sometimes don't adventure so far away from the City. As for horseriding they actually have a ton of that in Griffith park. The also have quiet a few stables around Glendale, & Burbank. Great idea about Melrose, Fairfax, Beverly Blvd, Beverly center, La Cienega. I am planning on covering them eventually but as of now I have 2 more Hollywood related videos and then a good part of 2024 will be focusing on Japan. I have a series of 14 videos on various regions in Japan coming out and then I will focus back on Hollywood life and Europe. Thank you for always watching. I appreciate your kind words every time.
