Warhorse studio is the best example, I think. They had nothing, had to rely on Kickstarter to make their first game, nobody thought it would even work, someone eventually gave them a chance, and BAM. Kingdom Come: Deliverance was born. Came out in 2018. 6 million copies sold so far, cca 6k players on the daily still today. And a sequel on the way.

Hidden & Dangerous 1 & 2 are the most underrated tactical shooters in gaming history. I would say they were ahead of their time but up to this point, no other game could match their game mechanics. The second game makes my jaw drop with all of it little details and without the first game my childhood would not be complete.

There are 44 game development companies listed on the Polish stock exchange. The biggest are Cd Projekt Red, Techland, Playway, and 11 Bit Studios. Every year, new domestic studios are created in Poland but also branches of big foreign brands such as Activision or Microsoft Studios, so this industry is certainly the future of the Polish economy.

Just for the record, Crytek, which made the first Far Cry is from Germany, same as Piranha Bytes (who are sadly gone now) with the gothic Series.
      As are Yager and Daedalic.
And if you like the X-Series (X-beyond the Frontier, X-Tension, X2-the Threat, X3-Reunion, X3-Terran Conflict, X3-Albion Prelude, X-Missgeburt/Missbirth....errr X-Rebirth (gag!), X4 and it's addons) Egosoft is from Germany as well.
The biggest Simulation Publishers for Flight sims (MSFS2020/2024 and X-Plane 11/12) as well as Train Sims are from Germany and Britain as well (Aerosoft and Just Flight/Just Trains).
A lot of the third party devs for those and DCS are also from countries you wouldn't expect.
Heatblur the best Module developer for DCS, who made the magnificent Tomcat and Phantom as well as the Viggen are from Sweden.
True Grit, who are working on the Eurofighter are from Germany, Aerges who made the Mirage F1 are from Spain.
Razbam is from, roughly speaking South America.
The Falcon BMS team is from all over the world, and yeah I know one of the devs who is from germany.
German Game development could be better if it wasn't for our stupid politicians who can't get their act together to make a proper support policy. And they waste tax money on stupid woke shit.
Games that literally no one plays. But that's the greens for you, and you know they are actually running the show, not the social democrats or Free democrats (neoliberals).
Go to simracing and well it's getting interesting, while iracing is made by the follow on from Papyrus, two of the biggest sims there are, Assetto Corsa and Asetto Corsa Competizione are made by Kunos Simulazioni, who are italians. And yes AC and ACC even eclipse Codemasters's F1 games in player numbers.
Slightly Mad Studios (RIP) who made the Project Cars Series, are from Britain. They work now as straight 4 studios.
Raceroom Racing Experience (R3E) is made by KW Studios, formerly Sector 3, formerly Simbin, who are swedes as well.
Noobiesoft/Ubisaft*/Ubisoft, we don't talk about that....well they are french, what do you expect! ;) :P
*literally Ubi-juice.......which is a german derogatory nickname for Ubisoft, as in german a bad company/a badly run company that can't do anything right is a Saftladen or Juice-shop! And no that "nickname" is more than 20 years old. I heard it first in 2006 in the german Lockonforum, but it was old back then. Appeared in forum postings in 2003 or earlier. And it wasn't eh only place.
Just joking, no need to get your knickers into a twist frenchies and francophiles......they have some good ones like Arkane Studios (Damn you Bethesda and Microsoft for screwing them over!!! Ihr Arschgeigen!) or Asobo, yeah the guys who are making the new MS Flight Simulator are french!
Same as Focus Home Interactive, the guys behind the Wargame Series.
If you look into periphery it gets even more interesting.

You get it wrong man. CD project sold 18 000 copies of Baldurs Gate in the FIRST DAY(according to polish eurogamer article) in Poland, over 50 000 in couple months in "premiere price", and over 150 000 for the sales including expansions. 18 000 total would be not great probably - the price was lower than in other countries due to lower wages in Poland(+piracy was just a standard here, as we were just a couple of years after we "released" from the communism and started to feel more like a part of the western world). Add to this the cost of all things that were included in our release, cost of localisation, taxes and licensing and you won't have a big margin probably. Also I don't think that interplay would be so happy if they've sold only 18 000 copies.

Dedication to the craft over profit maximization. It is a boring answer that sounds more romantic than it is: By trying to address the largest possible market share, a game is prone to losing players to more specific gaming experiences. Skyrim is palatable to many, but the world of RPGs has a lot more to offer to those who want to delve deep. European games for now tend to be the more niche kind. This may change in the future, but man, I do prefer the European way of classic business conduct by a mile. No excessive uber monetization turning games into game-skinned slot machines. Who wants that when they can have a real game for the same price? Eventually there will be a new generation of passionate studios in the US and the cycle will begin anew.

    • @gutfriedvonguttenberg5614
      @gutfriedvonguttenberg5614 2 месяца назад

You don't even have to go over maximising profits. Make a great game for your niche and fanbase and earn just 10€0 as a safe bet
or make a game for everyone and earn €1000? well and aim for something with massive competition and market penetration, most likely fail and earn only 5€
The thing is, the people who decide this in the big corps lose nothing if they fail, but earn a hell of a lot if they actually manage to pull off big in the ‘for everyone’ market
they got too arrogant and cocky so still make decent decisions
move fast, break things? well and begone if something breaks and be already on to your next big coup

Cyberpunk 2077 has sold 30 million copies to date, even after rough launch. Besides, apart from sales, Rockstar has long ceased to be a benchmark for quality. And looking at the hellish development of GTA 6, I don't predict a sweet future.

ohhhhh u are a remedy lover i zee. The storys of its games are bad, at the begging they feel like theres something interesting in it, but them u see the story doing stupid things like its the most briliant narrative. like in control, It doenst make any sense, Alan Wake, it doenst make any sense! a dark clone of the protagonist that controls objects is not innovative, the light things seens cool but killing zombies all over again -.- oh im not even going to toucht on the worst acting ever lol Mario has a better emotional voice than all the bland remedy characters( less max pain).
btw alan wake 2 sucks to hard!
DISLIKE from me for only this fanboys remedy. When u say its great a product that is so blend like that, ur option has no value...
