  • This is the FINAL part of my three part Alaska Moose Hunt with my brother ‪@patricksimple‬ hunting in the Brooks Range on our tribes private property. We travel on the Chandalar River north of Venetie Alaska, 99781 which is 60 miles north of the Arctic Circle. We are driving a 22' Allweld river boat with a 2010 Yamaha 75 HP outboard with a Jet lower unit. Filmed on a GoPro hero Black 9, iPhone 11, and a GoPro 6.

    Nic. moose, lotsa meat, Good shooting. Using solid copper bullets? '06? Water looked good remember running river, reading reefs and shoats with Scanoe and 10 HP Merc with 4" freeboard. Won't do that again !! Good video, Blessings.

      @@enigmaticgwichin1630 Ya I bought the Scanoe off a guy in N.Pole for $300 back 91, and the Merc about the same time. What was different, was I bought an Add on Extended Cavitation plate (Whales Tail)(Sting Ray) and it immediately put the bow down and get me right up on-step (planing). Measured against road speed out in the Chena behind Alaskaland (Pioneer Park and was able to get 21 MPH out of it. Used the Whales Tail on my 25 Yamaha also used Pirhana Props, interechangable nylon reinforced props whoes blades were individual and different speed pitches, changable with just a Cresent Wrench. Like my .41 Mag, should kept them too, LOL. Lived as far as down as MidWay, half way to Nenana, but commuted into Denali Park for a couple summers.

    What kind of bullets did you use? They don't mushroom?

    • @enigmaticgwichin1630
      @enigmaticgwichin1630  Год назад

      I used some precision boat tail rounds by federal. For the life of me I can’t remember the grain weight. I only recovered one bullet that hit the backbone and didn’t pass all the way through the others hit bone and passed right through. We usually aim for the neck so the contents of the stomachs and lungs to get all over the insides. It’s just alot less damaged meat. I miss spoke when I said behind the shoulder it was in front of the shoulder at the base of the neck the moose only turned around and fell over, with neck shots it’s quick

      We went up for moose but after a couple days without seeing one we knew there were caribou way up there so we pushed it to make it to them and within a mile of finding the caribou we shot this moose. Of our sat phone hadn’t died we would have harvested caribou to give out to elders as well
