  • On the eve of Ireland's World Cup quarter-final against New France, Rúaidhrí O'Connor and Cian Tracey join Sinéad Kissane on the latest episode of the Left Wing at the Stade de France ahead of one of the biggest games ever in Irish rugby history.
Mack Hansen has been passed fit to play, they talk about the bizarre suggestion of spying at New Zealand training that was aimed at Ireland and where tomorrow's game will be won or lost.
And don’t forget to join Sinéad, Rúaidhrí and Cian on Sunday morning for their special post-match show. Will we be looking forward to a semi-final game or will it be another quarter-final heartache?
Listen and follow on Apple, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts.
    The Left Wing Live
The Left Wing is coming to the 3Olympia Theatre on Thursday 19th October ahead of the World Cup semis and with Ireland potentially playing for a World Cup final place, it promises to be a great night of rugby discussion and banter with Luke Fitzgerald and Will Slattery being joined by Bernard Jackman and Stephen Ferris.

ROC determined to push his agenda against Schmidt implying that the NZ discipline issues are his fault when this ABs have been a mess under Foster from the start.
While things didn't end well with Schmidt, there is no doubt that he laid the foundations of this successful Irish team and he deserves nothing but respect from everyone who loves Irish Rugby.
It's no secret that Schmidt didn't like ROC. This style of journalism that is again on display today doesn't make a lot of friends and we should be spared this tacky attempt at retribution from someone better suited writing for the Sun or Daily mail.

If Schmidt was so hard to work with then why did he last so long and have so much success with Leinster and have such a good rapport with Leinster players. He was also the driving force behind so much good for Ireland during his time. Great rugby man.

I'm so sorry. But I just can't help but say. As great as Ireland are playing I don't think you've got it in you to take this one. So many teams have been in your position - as Irish mixed ancestry as we are - and failed to get past the Abs at the most crucial times. And sadly this is absolutely one of them. Now, I'm not bias or prejudice towards Irish rugby. I think you're going great and I actually think you deserve to take this one. And I absolutely enjoyed the game against Scotland. It was far more of what we need from Ireland. Especially if you're going to have any show in this quarter-final. But then that was against Scotland. And not the All Blacks. You know. It wasn't New Zealand. And in a quarter-final. But just before this one. And where you won it emphatically. I mean. Look. This one's going to be so tight too isn't it. So. Things to me aren't looking too good at all really. Not if we were more honest with ourselves. Well - not for Ireland anyway - really. But do you want to know why I don't think you will take this one - in amongst the few only of our group that don't think so - at the final whistle of the matchup? Well because I don't think you're ready to. I don't think you've played your best either because you're not ready. And no you're not wrong you're playing far from a best eh. And there's far more development needed in areas of the game for you in order to tackle games like this one. Games the Abs are always up for. And why Abs play the game. No. I think this one for you will be a bridge too far for you. Why. Because its against the Abs. Plus because you must win it. But do you want to know why most of all? Well because I think you're not playing your best yet because you're not ready to. So I'd give it a bit more time. Like after this world cup. Then you'll be ready. Once you've lost this one. Ok? I know you might not enjoy my comments sometimes. But I'm well known for being blatantly honest. And just about all the time. Yea. So. That's what I think. But you'll give it your best. I know that. But I don't think it'll be near enough. And if you can do to New Zealand what you did to Scotland I promise I'll back you to take RWC2023. But I just don't think you've got it in you. Well not yet anyway. But best of Irish luck! And God Bless you!🙂🙏👍✌️👌🙌✊️🙌👌✌️👍🙏

Good to see how optimistic people are about the All Black's possibly not being good enough to win. Even this current team who for the past 2-3 years have been at times well off their usual clinical best can beat all the current hopefuls. They key to winning against them is more or less in a way of hoping they make mistakes and lots of them. Whether that comes in the form of handling errors due to their high tempo, expansive running game or dear I say it, their I'll discipline that has truly plagued their endeavours in recent years. The trending pattern shows there is a good likelihood we'll see more of it as it is a negative by-product of the way they play due to the forced nature of their style. But... and I say but?? If they reduce what I said above by even 20-30% they will be that much more effective and as we all know, they don't need much in the way of confidence and opportunity to completely take the game away from any team no matter who they are. It's almost like saying... If the All Black's play with 15 men for 80 minutes, it's fair to say their opponent may very well find themselves on the end of a humiliating defeat. If they are carded with multiple yellows however, they become ripe for the picking. Ireland have a great chance but All Black's will need to go to the bin. It's that simple.

This was Irelands equivalent of NZ’s 2007, but without the forward pass. Well, at least not as blatant. Ireland will do well as a result of this. Just need a new fly half (NZ have a few you could grab). And for O’Mahoney to keep his gob shut.

The dynamic has shifted in 4 years....same result for the Irish however, in exiting at the QF stage. Don't worry, the unity within this current crop of the "worst cohesive" All Blacks in history, is pretty strong. You saw it for yourselves out there today... don't write off the ABs when it gets to the knock-out stages of a tourney! Well done to Ireland regardless...

Sorry for you but this podcast has been aggressively rude and obnoxious about all other teams Ireland played. A nervous team v a confident team ran onto that field and the reason Ireland was nervous was because they were made the gods of rugby by commentators such as this when we all know sport it a game played match by match and experience counts.

Well, the obvious question is, just how vicious was the All Blacks response?
As for the need for re-set, that's what the Mark Telea situation was, there would have been no time wasted, they just simply went to team protocols.
"They have to deal with someone else being number 1 now..."
Omg, you mate, have no idea, when your side can be number 1 for a decade, then you might be able to talk about number 1 status.

Lol the arrogant guy on the left said Ireland have the edge in nearly every area. Well that aged well. I have no problem with them picking Ireland but don't speak absolute nonsense.
The fact is the ABs have far more natural talent than this Irish team, but Ireland are a better drilled team that is very much system driven. Ireland certainly don't have the athletic freaks like Ioane, Jordan, Mounga, Savea etc and it showed on the weekend. Negate their system and you negate Ireland. Congratulations on the victory, ABs.

NZ searching for performance, lol. NZ played with 14 man for 20 min, and the brilliant no.1 Irland team couldnt beat them when it matters. Irland are a small fish in a big pond No rational team would ever write of the AB's. I predict a SH semi-final show, and this will proof again how overated NH rugby is.

Bloody hell, these guys are so full of crap I'm amazed they have a following. Neither the AB's or the NZ media are trying to create any drama. The journalist are asking question, that's their job. They're inquiring about something they either saw or were told. Some of the questions are silly, but silly questions are coming from journalist from all countries. And to suggest the AB management has something to do with the photographer story...talk about unprofessionalism. Sounds as if these guys and the Irish rugby public are ones who are insecure and paranoid. Desperately trying to convince each other and paint a picture and create a narrative that everything is rock steady within the Irish playing group and that the AB's are somehow desperate and resorting to dirty tactics to upset the Irish.
So what if the AB's are sending out positive messages of them unloading bags, working with the public, etc. Isn't that what all teams are doing on their social media pages? Interacting with the locals and informing their fan base of their daily activities? Or is it only okay when Ireland does self promoting their brand? Laughing and joking around at a press conference could be the Irish players way of trying to keep their nerves and emotions in check. Talk about petty and nitpicking just to push a narrative.
Talea got dropped because he broke team protocol, end of story. Whether anyone likes it or not, or has an opinion on it, is neither here nor there, that's AB's business.
I've watched all the press conferences leading up to this game enjoying the build up and the banter between the two countries and fans. Most of it in good spirits, some nasty comments, but all in all, good fun. But this podcast, is absolute BS! Regarding the AB's press conference, to me it was no different from any other. The AB's seem totally focussed, relaxed and ready to go. It may not come across that way to these "professional analysis" (and I use that term very loosely), but I've seen enough AB's press conferences over my many years of watching rugby to know that they're totally ready for tomorrows game.
Before watching these guys and a few other podcast, I wasn't to fussed if AB's lost to Ireland if that happened to be the case. Now, I'm hoping the AB's win by a lot...and I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.
Ireland may not be showing signs of nerves, but we'll only know what state of mind they're really at once they step out on the paddock. Whoever controls their emotions better and settles into the game faster, will go along to winning the match. I know the AB's will be up for it.
    UP THE MIGHTY ALL BLACKS!!!
