The beauty of a song like this is you don't need to know the words. The beat carries you along and you fill in the words in the language of your choice....... This should be played at the Vancouver Olympics.
They had a reunion show for Aboriginal Day here in Winnipeg Manitoba a couple years ago. The turn out was great. They should put their songs on iTunes and raise money for a final Canadian Tour.
They came to Haida Gwaii in 91'-92ish to my home town Old Massett. We didn't have a mic stand at our community hall at the time. So 9 year oldt I, held the microphone while they preformed.
When they came to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, at the forks for Indian times 2. This song, a bunch of dancers came dancing out onto the grounds and dancing down the stairs to the stage. That night was so so good, I have that on V.H.S tape and watch it all the time.
Kashtin was also my first concert,i was 11 years old & my mom got 2 free last minute tickets from a co-worker, we rushed to get to the concert on time that evening. It was the first time i ever heard of & seen Kashtin.I remember dancing to the beats with a few first nation people at the concert in Montreal ,i had a good time there even if im a pale skin X-)
First time my family and I heard their music was from this video and we shared it among family and friends. This video proves that regardless of stigma, stereotype our Native Nation continue to thrive through song and dance; its a celebration of prayers honored and rooted generations back for us today. . . Its been our dream to watch them sing again, thankfully we can watch them through you tube. Kashtin to us down in the Southwest YOUR AMAZING!!!
When I go to like some of the comments, my computer started to glitch and it never does that. I swear the world is still out to divide native people from one another. I LOVE KASHTIN, THINKING ABOUT NAMING MY FIRST BORN SON KASHTIN.
They do the same with white peoples too.... I am fervant white nationalist, my girlfriend (been 2 years im with her..) is pure Innu Montagnais from Betsiamite Côte Nord... Before i was more a white supremacist... Those peoples accepted me like one of them despite some of my prison tattoos and etc... There's a lot of similarities between their culture and the old culture and old ways of our germanics and celts ancestors (im not speaking of christianity) im talking about our old way of life..... the old Gods and Godess, the closeness to mother nature etc..
i've had the pleasure to meet a few inuit people from labrador, way down here in windsor ont. i'm all the better for it. great people of the kind we rarely get to meet. I've been a Kashtin fan since i first saw this video some years back. Love to see a new album from them..
Toujours bon .. ça peu pas devenir dépassé ... Québécois Amérindiens Faites la Paix .. les Québécois n'ont pas les mains tachés du sang des Indiens d'amériques. Les amérindiens sont nos frères ..
I had the chance to see Kashtin live in 1994 during the evening celebration of the Common wealth games in Victoria. 20 years later this is one on my favorite tune. Much talent. Thanks for sharing.
Tshinanu All of us All of us Let us look at our way of life Our children Our grandfathers All of us All of us Let us look at our way of life Our rivers Our lands This is our reason
They played in Victoria, maybe on the streets, which is common in Victoria, or by the Harbour Front. Lots of musicians play around there. My parents bought a cassette and I always remembered them. Love them!
I just saw them today at at the airport and they were on their way to Nemaska to play the annual Festival,They played here in Chisasibi last year and it was an awesome show. KASHTIN !!
I was playing my Kashtin cassette today ... saw these awesome muse-gicians of the people in the 90's in Toronto. ... when are you going on the comeback tour??? WE miss you and love you... Sk'tghxeeahw
i love this band a lot just not realy in to this kind of music but this is a good band! now i know why my mom and dad named me kashtin after this band. :D
RE: Rémi Marcotte's entry... No one is uneffected by the happenings, Claude McKenzie is still human vulnerable to make mistakes like killing a child. One cannot escape from the trappings that so much of this world sometimes offers to the conquered,
Pour moi leur meilleur album est leur 3e et dernier, Akua Tuta, avec Manu Katché à la batterie. Mais Florent Vollant et Claude McKenzie ont fait d'autres albums.
I want to make a vid but do not speak that language (I'm Metis) and was wondering for those who speak it if you could provide me with key words in the song beyond "Our People". Send 2 me via my message box and include both the native language followed by the English intrepretation. If possible include a slash / or -. Much thanks and I love this beat and this song. It's kinda like the German version of 99 Luft ballons. Ya just got 2 love it
I know this was years ago but, I never fucking wanted this life. I wanted to live off the land like my parents and grandparents before me and I was never given the opportunity. Fuck the reserve. I’d burn it to the ground if given the chance. I just want to be among trees. And they gave us NOTHING. They took us from our home and caged us in shacks. Made us give up our language, our identity and for fucking what???!!! To better fit into Canadian society? Like there aren’t a few million bad fucking apples in Canada.

So if you already knew you were named after these guys, then why ask the question? Or do you not know how a question mark works?
Pour moi leur meilleur album est leur 3e et dernier, Akua Tuta, avec Manu Katché à la batterie.

I know this was years ago but, I never fucking wanted this life. I wanted to live off the land like my parents and grandparents before me and I was never given the opportunity. Fuck the reserve. I’d burn it to the ground if given the chance. I just want to be among trees.
