Since metal this day usually use lower tuning than E standand, I suspect many amp sim is tuned to that. Using guitar with E standard tuning usually needs careful adjustment to amp sim setting as well as IR. In my experience, a 'wrong' setting will easily makes guitar sound fizzy or muffled.
With your demo, I can immediately imagine how an amp sim will sound like. Keep doing amp sim demo Kyle.

I’ve been using STL tones tonehub for the past month for silent recording for my band stuff (when I don’t have time to go to the practice spot and mic my real amps) and it sounds great with some tweaking

I got this plugin about a month ago and I have found myself having a hard time going back to anything else. That Purple Nightmare is absolutely brutal and I'm really enjoying that.
