  • 'Tribes of Melbourne' is an early 80's documentary on the Melbourne punk scene. It was written and directed by Tina Mc Quade and produced by Steve Goddard.

    GASH is one of my favorite bands of all time. I'm really happy to have found this video!! Great bands in Australia, Depression was cool band too.

    I'm having to explain punk in an Australian setting to a bunch of 12-16 year olds who've never heard anything punk in their lives... This is immensely helpful, man I love primary source!

    Thanks for uploading this. I got to Melb from Perth in '85, and got into the scene a few years later, but love seeing the origins of the scene I was in. Cheers.

      Depends who you ask, we had The Saints at the same time Ramones was doin their thing so its not like it seemed like a huge big new thing when word of The Ramones came around but thats not to say we didn't like The Ramones as well

      maceikobrandon83 No, completely different outfit. The Australian X was formed by the late great Ian Rilen and put out three albums in the early 80's.
