  • If your machine isn't powerful enough to process large maps with WebODM - don't worry, we have a solution for you that doesn't involve spending thousands on new hardware...unless you want to.
With this simple trick you can upload the photos for offline processing and, for a small fee, get your maps and 3D images processed quickly without killing your machine.
If you do use this method, I would appreciate it if you would use my referral code which is here: webodm.net/uav...

If you don't want to lay out large sums on a rig, it's a very cost effective and easy solution

Thanks so much for this. I've been able to produce an orthophoto from 240 images taken during a map mission that previously I was unable to process successfully. The orthophoto is 1.25 GB. Unfortunately none of my image viewers will open it. Any suggestions?

Assuming you have a local copy of webODM running, you can import it into that and view it there using the 2d viewer.

I did sign up (with your code of course!) and although I've not had occasion to use their services yet, I'll keep your video in mind for potential future use.

Much appreciated. And the nice thing about this is if you're traveling and don't have access to a big machine, you still have options.

Good one Barry, I really must go on and check my credits as would be handy when I've only got the laptop with me and want to process a larger job than the 16 GB of memory on that allows

Right. I've found my Mini M2 (which has 16GB) is good up to about 350 photos for 3D. For ortho only I use fast ortho and, if resized, it is good for up to about 600 photos. Outside of that...Lightning is the way to go.
One nice thing if you are traveling and using a laptop - once you have uploaded and started you can shut the laptop down and come back later.
