  • Replacing a failed water pump and timing belt on a VW New Beetle 1.8T 20V engine. It will be a similar steps on replacing the Timing belt and water pump on all Volkswagen Jetta, Golf, Passat, New beetle and Audi A4 1.8T engines.

    How many miles did you go before replacing timing belt?

      I think the vehicle was around 150k when replaced the belt. It was already replaced once before that, but unkown when the first replacement happened.

    can u look at my videos and tell ne the problem i am having with vw beetle 2002 model must fix soon engine is a 2.0

      No compression. Either it`s not timed correctly, or just bent the valves.

      @@topworksautomotive4509 I just put it on the computer no codes came up so I think it may be out off time I ask a guy who fixes airplanes he said it was out time too. Thanks for your help.

      @@topworksautomotive4509 so if it is timed right despite it has not ran for a while it should start as soon as the camshaft and crankshaft sprocket is line up.

      @@topworksautomotive4509 I hope not I just put a new cylinder head and new bolts on it the video I saw the guy showed the crankshaft sprocket should be at 11 o'clock and 4 o'clock is the correct position
