Thank you! I had issues with Windows 11 Home upgrading to my Windows 11 Pro OEM copy that I bought with my laptop, and your trick worked great! Only thing was that you need to be fully offline when you put the upgrade key in. Once it reboots, enter the new Windows 11 Pro product key, and you are good to go!

Installed a Win10 Home edition from friend, than buyed online a Pro Key for cheap. So this helps to get the Upgrade solved.

You are an absolute life saver! Thank you! This is still totally working (28 Apr 2020) but you MUST disconnect from the internet for the entire process from start to finish. It does NOT require any internet connection. My PC restarted twice and then it was upgraded from Windows 10 Home to Pro. Like magic! :-) I reconnected the internet, hit "Change Product Key" again and entered my old Windows 7 key and I was activated! Woot!

07-22-2021 Still works! You the best. FIRST I ended up turning off the wifi and adding your code. It gave me an error (after 100%) but I restarted anyways. It upgraded to pro. I entered my valid key. Then it told me server was down (I wasnt connected to the internet yet). I connected to the internet and it activated on its own with my code. Now everything is good. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the description product key says that it is invalid any ideas how to fix this?

Also, dont forget to disconnect from network as the key is already in use (obviously). Once you are upgraded, just enter your key, and you are good to go.

Seems to work for 11 also. 10 has entitlement rights to 11 pro. As long I am putting in my actual key in the end. I don't see a problem with this. Worst case scenario.. I just wasted a little bit of time and I have to just do clean a install. No big deal for me.
It's 2021 and this bug still exists in Windows... I had to disable internet connection at the beginning of the process (for about 30 seconds), re-enable it, and it ended with an error during the upgrade at about 84%... But it restarted the PC and it worked anyway.. That's just Windows. Anyway thanks!
THANK YOU!! With this I was able to use my w10 pro key that I got when I had a home version and upgrade it to pro while disconnected from the internet, then connect back after using your code and then use mine. Thanks man saved me a lot of time and didnt have to reinstall windows

i just purchased a dell inspiron i5 3000 from bestbuy and i am trying to set it up and upgrading from windows 10 home to pro and i purchased the pro from the microsoft store and got the error code while trying to upgrade and i did not receive a product key since i did a digital purchase and i tried to use ur product key and it did not work for me. i am about to call microsoft to see if i can get the product key

I rarely post on youtube vids but this really worked. The thing that has to be noted is that you have to be offline to enter this key. After this, you reboot, Windows Pro won't be activated yet... go on and enter your key, you'll get an error (servers not available) and go back online. It'll tell you your licence is activated and works! Thanks man!

Yea I was about to scream fowl myself. But then I saw I am putting my actual key in after the fact. So actually watched the whole video. And I don't see a problem with this.

It saved hours of work of doing the clean reinstall.
This worked, December 2021. Please turn off wifi and ethernet (or use airplane mode). You will get an error, but restart anyway. Then you can use your actual Pro key. I can't believe this day in age it was so many steps just to upgrade from Home to Pro, I wish I wasn't a slave to Micros0ft.

Worked for me ... Just unplug networkcable when entering first code and put it back when activating with genuine code. Saved me from a full reinstall. Thanks alot!!

1. You MUST disconnect from the internet!!!
During the entire process, from start to finish, during the reboot.
After it reboot, change the key to your original Windows 10 product key, and ta-daaa ... Windows activated.

Still works as of 15 December 2019. Also disconnect from internet while doing this. After activating with your bought key, connect to internet again and wait 1 minute.

This doesn't work if you have a digital license upgrading with an OEM license.
Worked perfectly. Make sure you disconnect from your internet when entering the key provided my this video, aswell as just waiting for a while when it reaches 100%. The computer will restart, plug your internet back and enter your own code in and it will work! 10/10 video.

Купил на eBay ключик от Win10Pro и решил без переустановки системы просто сменить версию с Home на Pro штатным способом, ввел купленный ключ и получил эту самую ошибку 0xc004f050 с дурацким её описанием (полностью в стиле Микрософта).
Случайно нагуглил это видео, попробовал и оно сработало - этот вариант оказался проще чем возиться с командной строкой и тем более переустановкой системы.

на планшете заработало, только когда отключил сеть, иначе оно пыталось сразу активировать общий ключ и выдавало ошибку

To anyone doing this in 2023, make sure you have the internet fully disconnected from your device before attempting this.

m having a hard time understanding this
it keeps on showing me the error thing. even after I copy pasted the common key and tried to activate it. it just keeps on saying "We can't activate your Windows on this device because you don't have a valid digital license or product key. If you do not have a valid license or key, select troubleshoot below. Error code: 0xC004C003" in red font. m using windows 10 pro btw. I don't understand the disconnect pc from internet part because when I do that and then enter the common key, it would just keep on telling me to connect back to internet for it to work. I really need help, this is driving me nuts.

Still works in 2024. You must remember to disconnect LAN, WiFi etc. Then logout from Microsoft Account and log in to your local account.
OK, I take that back....the activation while off the network said it failed, but when I rebooted (after reconnecting to the network), the "upgrade" to Pro occurred and now my valid product key is activated. Thanks for the tip!

Mannn, TY VM. Worked fine for me. I had installed legit Win 10 from Micro$oft and got a pro key from Ebay, but apparently I had installed W10 Home with my Micro$oft-created bootable USB with W10 on it.. Kinda a head scratcher, as I was not asked from Micro$oft or their "installation media creation" utility if I wanted Home or Pro.
I did disconnect from network to "upgrade", was prompted to restart, connected back to network and I've now used the key I bought. TY again, I've Subscribed and Liked :)
Now running a "legit" (well, activated) version of W10 Pro ;)
