    Back when the 360 FE was the mainstay of Ford pickup trucks
    I used replace the cams with a FoMoCo OBZ cam spec for the 390 GT HP. Really woke them up.
    Of course I also swapped intakes added a 600cfm carb and daul exhaust.
    Customers were always happy.

      I just put a 428 crank in the 360 with the stock pistons and rings if it was within specs. Get it clean. Swap in a GT/CJ cam and 428 CJ intake back in the 70s for a pickup and a set of cheap F100 headers. It would rip the tires off and wind to 6500 effortlessly. 360 to 410 F100 Road Runner killer, lol.

      @@williamquire2115 Well I can tell you this I have been building small block chevs and fords for over 20 years. I have campaigned many 1/4 drag cars won many trophy's with my small block 1966 chevell and my 68 camaro. Then moved to building 390s racing a 67 fast back mustang then moved to building 427 fe big blocks which was very expensive and how did I afford this? I built engines on the side for local racers and my own competition but it took care of my bills so could race. I am a huge fan of the chev engine but like this guy I love fe engines and you have no right to knock another car enthusiasts engine build just because of the brand that is just ignorant.

    I put that same XE262H cam in a zero decked 10:1 compression 390 with L2291F pistons, C1AE heads, stock C5AE (June of 64 actual casting) cast iron 4V intake, stock exhaust manifolds with a good 2.5" exhaust system. Stock single point ignition with a pretty aggressive centrifugal advance curve and a 1850-5 600 CFM holley with 66 primary jets and a metering plate drilled for 70 jet equivalent. That thing runs pretty swell, lots of torque and revs to 5000 like it's nothing. WAY more power than that 250HP 352 it replaced, which also ran pretty well for it being 57 years old and 158k miles. I paid a lot of money to have good machine work done right and not cut corners, it seems that helps build more HP and TQ on a mild engine than just bolting aftermarket stuff onto a basic thrown together engine. Really happy with how mine runs with that cam, although the idle is a lot smoother than I wanted but it performs so well I don't mind, still sounds good.

The pin offset changes the dwell time at tdc and builds combustion pressure longer. Advance the cam 2 degrees and run a 750 or 850 double pumper on a performer intake. • @glasserallen
    @glasserallen 2 года назад +1

    Very nice build but 6500 RPM Edelbrock aluminum heads for a 5200 RPM cam mismatch build that would be like running 12 to 1 compression and a ton of ram with dual fours and running an RV cam totally mismatched setup no offense though.

    • @bricoperformanceengines2208
      @bricoperformanceengines2208  2 года назад

      The cam rpm range goes to 5600.
      Edelbrock only makes the performer rpm heads for Ford Fe engine's. And I don't like to buy Chinese heads that are sub par quality and have lower flow numbers. If you want to buy cheep knock offs that make less power and are poor quality be my guest... I won't do that.
      The motor went in a truck and had tons of low-end torque. And pulled hard to 6000. Nuthing was mismatched.

      Dude, if you take 208hp or 220hp rated heads and put on ANY engine that's what you are going to get. Just like dummies that take a 1977 small block chevy and try to put 2 4bbls on it, and all you see is black smoke from the flooding of the engine. Weak ass heads are weak ass heads... You will need to at least put a set of Hi Po valve springs onto the 352 heads because like ALL lower HP FE's you will just run into valve float anyways, but more so with the 2bbl. 352 heads...

      There were two rod length s in these engines. A short rod version 6.488 length that was used in the 390,406,427,and 428. The longer rods 6.540 were used in the 332,352,360 and 361.

      Couple things to try off the top of my head, make sure the gaskets under the carb are good. You can get them at advanced auto or AutoZone for pretty cheap. Next thing they also sell small push on cap kits at either store . This way you can plug it if it's some sort of hose nipple on the back off the carb.
