Reminds me of a girl I ditched years ago at a Red Lobster. She intentionally got there an hour early and started ordering drinks for herself. Then she ordered a big ass sampler platter for dinner AND ordered another meal to go, expecting me to pay for it all. I gave the waitress enough money to cover my order plus a tip and left. I got some very angry texts from her as I drove home with a smile on my face.

When I was dating, I had one cardinal rule that I always followed when a man asked me out for dinner. I NEVER ordered anything that cost more than that person was ordering for himself. I assumed that he was ordering something that he could afford so I stuck with that same amount for what I ordered for myself. BTW, if someone asks you out "for drinks" you get a drink. You do not get four plates of probably the most expensive entree on the menu. Also, if he only orders one drink for himself, I think common courtesy would dictate that you only order one drink also. I always tried to follow the Golden Rule which is "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you" and if I invited someone out, I wouldn't want that person to buy some budget-busting amount of food so I will not do that either. I'm gonna go way out on a limb here and bet that this woman doesn't get asked out for many second dates and I was delighted to see that this guy skipped out and left her there to pay for her own gluttony.

The funny thing is Atlanta dining has gotten more expensive and shittier. Growing up here in the late 90’s and early 2000’s was ATL’s prime for fine dining. I once went out on a first date where he offered to pay (ahead of time because I don't assume a man should pay) but I wasn't that hungry and just got a drink instead. I was more interested in getting to know him then about a meal. He inhaled his food. I just thought he was hungry and waited to talk when he was done but he kept on getting more food. Eventually, the bill came and I thought he might have wanted to talk to me then but all he wanted to talk about was how much they charged at the place. It wasn't a pricey place. The prices were on the menu. When he started to complain about how much my one drink was I said if it's a problem I can pay for my own drink. He said something along the lines of that would be great. I obviously realize he must have not been into me when we met in person but I would think he could have talked to me in between bites. Also, I gave him more than what my drink cost figuring he would put it down for tip but he pocketed the change. I saw how much he put down and it was only $2. I wasnt about to let the poor server get a bad tip so I made up the difference trying to figure out how much the bill was. I didn't see it but I still remember he said my drink cost $10. I was surprised that I got a hug as we parted ways at the end though. He did say we should do this again sometime but I felt like he said it in a sarcastic tone. I was down right shocked when I got a text from him as I was leaving the parking lot saying he had a good time. The whole situation made me not want to continue trying to date. Yes, it could have been worse (and I've been on worse but this reminded me of this video). I definitely understand how guys feel when women just want to date for a free meal. When all they are interested in is the food it feels like shit and very disrespectful. Personally, I would never do that to another person. Also, if he didn't offer to pay for the date ahead of time I probably would have thinking money was tight for him and I can understand that. I have been with my wife for six years. We've been married for a year now. She's five years older than me, but I don't care. She's mature and has a wonderful personality. I still remember our first date. The first date went well. (obviously.) We weren't distracted on our phones and we weren't recording the date. It was a simple date. Dinner and a movie. I didn't spend too much money on the date, and she offered to pay for her share of things (her share of the dinner, her drink, popcorn, soda at the movies, etc)
We are happily married now. This woman? .....no. This parasite...deserved what she got. Getting stuck with paying the bill. Good on the man to staying true to paying for what they agreed on in the first place. Just the drinks.

The funny thing is Atlanta dining has gotten more expensive and shittier. Growing up here in the late 90’s and early 2000’s was ATL’s prime for fine dining. My dad was a waiter in the Buckhead area, when they used to have standards… but now? It’s all trash and not even worth it. You really are better going to local businesses run by the small families.

I once went out on a first date where he offered to pay (ahead of time because I don't assume a man should pay) but I wasn't that hungry and just got a drink instead. I was more interested in getting to know him then about a meal. He inhaled his food. I just thought he was hungry and waited to talk when he was done but he kept on getting more food. Eventually, the bill came and I thought he might have wanted to talk to me then but all he wanted to talk about was how much they charged at the place. It wasn't a pricey place. The prices were on the menu. When he started to complain about how much my one drink was I said if it's a problem I can pay for my own drink. He said something along the lines of that would be great. I obviously realize he must have not been into me when we met in person but I would think he could have talked to me in between bites. Also, I gave him more than what my drink cost figuring he would put it down for tip but he pocketed the change. I saw how much he put down and it was only $2. I wasnt about to let the poor server get a bad tip so I made up the difference trying to figure out how much the bill was. I didn't see it but I still remember he said my drink cost $10. I was surprised that I got a hug as we parted ways at the end though. He did say we should do this again sometime but I felt like he said it in a sarcastic tone. I was down right shocked when I got a text from him as I was leaving the parking lot saying he had a good time.
The whole situation made me not want to continue trying to date. Yes, it could have been worse (and I've been on worse but this reminded me of this video). I definitely understand how guys feel when women just want to date for a free meal. When all they are interested in is the food it feels like shit and very disrespectful. Personally, I would never do that to another person. Also, if he didn't offer to pay for the date ahead of time I probably would have thinking money was tight for him and I can understand that. I just wanted to get to know him better but I think I would have felt even more hurt if that was the case.
Oh, and fyi our sever came over and thanked me for giving her a good tip and I apologized on his behalf (he was already by the door at that time). He was very rude to her and was demanding and snapping his fingers at her like she was a dog or something. I still want to think he normally wasn't like that and it was just an act to make me not like him. I seriously hope he wasn't the jerk as he came off as. I just think I wasn't as pretty as he had hoped I would be (even though he saw pics of me before we met).
