@finn, since horror goes hand in hand with metal, will you consider horror movie tier list or horror character tier like you did with teen movie tier? Love your tiers, they're legendary 😃👍
Finn, dude, I enjoy your commentary, but you have to be deranged or an absolute troll to say Box Car Racer did the mid 90s Post-Hardcore sound better than Quicksand. I hope you're one of both.
I can't get enough of Finn...he has, without question, the worst taste in music of anyone I regularly watch, and I just can't get enough of it. He always gets me triggered and my blood pressure up, screaming "Oh fuck off! Maynard is awesome!" at my phone... sincerely love his content...
I wouldn't say he has the worst taste in music. I think he has pretty good taste, but you're not going to like everything. I think you guys need to relax a bit, have some fun.
I don't think Slipknot heard Stone Sour and thought "This guy's gonna make us famous", I think they thought "We need another singer, and we live in fucking Iowa. This guy will do."
One of the most underrated side projects is "Ibaraki" by Matt Heafy of Trivium. It is a mixture of black metal, melodic death metal and hard rock. It's surprisingly good and proves just how talented Matt really is.

true story: my cousin, who died of cancer a weak ago, on his death bread said to me the following words with his mouth. "Finn's tear lists are A-Okay". no joke man, still brings a tear to my eyes.

I really liked that one song by Fort Minor, "Where'd You Go", and I like that song by BOB feat. Hayley Williams. Oh, a really old side project was when Eric Clapton did Derek and the Dominos, and made "Layla" with Duane Allman playing slide guitar. I guess you could say that Cream was a side project in the first place, since The Yardbirds was the first band that Eric Clapton was in, I think. That means Led Zeppelin is a side project too lol
Seriously though, check out Legend of the Seagullmen. It's a side project with Danny Carey from Tool and Brent Hinds from Mastodon, among others. The title track is catchy as hell, with a silly surfabilly vibe. Brent Hinds had another decent fez-wearing, surfabilly side gig before Mastodon called Fiend Without a Face. Good stuff.

That first DRUGS record was pretty good. To give credit where it's due, it's also the bass player of Story of the Year (Adam), drummer of Matchbook Romance (Aaron) and guitarist of From First to Last (Matt). It was a pretty good lineup of musicians back then!

I liked Them Crooked Vultures. Listening to it now, it does sound like music used in commercials. At the time it didn't feel like that. In 2009 it seemed that commercials were using barely known indie artists. I also didn't like DRUGS (besides the single) in comparison to Chiodos.
Boxcar racer is amazing. So sad they only ever did one album to be honest. Although the self titled blink album did take some good inspiration from Tom's boxcar sound.

I liked the second D.R.U.G.S album but that's because I'm a Jona Weinhofen stan and he was on guitar. I honestly enjoy Murderdolls the most out of all the Slipknot side projects Big Dumb Face is dumb but enjoyable. Black Light Burns is the Wes Borland side project where it's at haha Love & Death is Head from Korn's side project which is pretty good I think. Sixx AM with Nikki Sixx is unironically enjoyable in a red state butt rock sort of way haha. At least that James Michael can sing lol
Most supergroups/side projects aren’t that good tbh. But I would say these are the best A Perfect Circle Nailbomb OSI Temple Of The Dog Audioslave Down Mad Season Fantomas Velvet Revolver Damageplan Liquid Tension Experiment Praxis Hellyeah I think the reason why most supergroups fail is because either not enough planning went into the project or they couldn’t create a cohesive sound.
I didnt know who Them Crooked Vultures was until this video. I remember regularly skipping them on Spotify. Not bad, but as you said, just didnt really grab me.
Pierre bouvier from Simple plan did a side project called Reset and Roger lima from Less than jake made a side project called Rehasher. To me they're very underrated.
Stone Sour Demo sounds like my front door neighbour who wanted to sound "up to date" with his band in 1994 ... the guy was really cool, but looked like Lars in 1989 ;)
Blink-182 is the expectation to the statement of : most bands doing side projects aren’t great. Due to the fact that: I love box car and transplants but have never been able to get into blink ( outside of a handful of a few random songs but I really have to be in the mood for them). AA is alright and I like what I’ve heard by +44 just haven’t put much effort into +44 though. They broke the mold by making good side projects lol. Also Chad from new found glory’s solo side project was good when he had it going but think he’s stopped as well as NFG as a wholesaler side project as the ISHC. Wuv from p.o.d. Has a pretty good side project with fieldy from korn ( think wuvs doing it full time tho either left p.o.d. Or has been taking a little break since they’ve been having some friends fill in on drums for some tours the last however long). Comeback-kid started as a side project for Jeremy and Andrew of figure four and look where that’s gone since then. Always hear good things about blaqk audio ( Davey& jade - AFI) but haven’t really listened much. Also the supergroup that davey is in with tony from no doubt and others is interesting haha I don’t really have an opinion on that project due to all I’ve seen it live videos with crummy audio so hard to judge (dream car?).

Remember buying it for my CD Walkman with anti-shock for £17/$35 back in the day, album is still catchy/cheesy.
I liked the second D.R.U.G.S album but that's because I'm a Jona Weinhofen stan and he was on guitar.
I honestly enjoy Murderdolls the most out of all the Slipknot side projects
Big Dumb Face is dumb but enjoyable. Black Light Burns is the Wes Borland side project where it's at haha
Love & Death is Head from Korn's side project which is pretty good I think. Sixx AM with Nikki Sixx is unironically enjoyable in a red state butt rock sort of way haha. At least that James Michael can sing lol
You’re killing it Finn! Thanks for the video
Thank you for watching!
Prophets of Rage probably doesn't work as well as RATM because 1. No Zack, and 2. Tom is just a rich lib.
I really enjoy how fend talks through every one of the songs that are playing while trying to tell you about them
Most supergroups/side projects aren’t that good tbh.
But I would say these are the best
A Perfect Circle
Nailbomb
OSI
Temple Of The Dog
Audioslave
Down
Mad Season
Fantomas
Velvet Revolver
Damageplan
Liquid Tension Experiment
Praxis
Hellyeah
I think the reason why most supergroups fail is because either not enough planning went into the project or they couldn’t create a cohesive sound.
I remember one time I had a friend who didn't know who the Misfits were, so to describe them I told him they were "Murderdolls minus Dope".
Stone Sour Demo sounds like my front door neighbour who wanted to sound "up to date" with his band in 1994 ... the guy was really cool, but looked like Lars in 1989 ;)
"Do you guys think people will know some of our band was in Rage Against the Machine?"
"Better put the word 'rage' in our name to be safe."
