Megadeth is actually a measurement of deaths caused by nuclear weapons. And they did spell it right lol

The thing is limp bizkit sounds like they would name themselves limp bizkit. Probably one of the most appropriately named bands of all time like Metallica. I think it really means something when a band sounds like their names and vice virsa
That association is made after you've listened to those bands and gotten used to how they sound while knowing what their name is though, generally. Korn comes to mind. If you heard Korn and never knew their name and someone gave you a list of names with Korn mixed in there, you'd never guess that was their name, but after you've associated it with them, then it totally makes sense to your brain.

I remember begging some guy to tape me Christian Death, I brought my walkman to school to listen on the field. I think I endured at least 15 minutes of it, waiting for the death metal to kick in before I realised I'd been scammed.

cannibal corpse is a cool ass name for a pioneering brutal death metal band lol.. they helped spawn the themes that would never leave the brutal slam genre, so i think its fitting.
Dave Mustaine explained the name in his book Megadeth means the death of over 1 million by nuclear explosion, he saw the word on a pamphlet on the greyhound back to California when he got kicked out of metallica

It's ok, Finn doesn't actually care about facts. Like his explanation of the LimpBizkit name.... His story was ok, but that frathouse activity is supposedly known as "The Blue Waffle". He just says anything to get more views. He told everyone that with a smile, knowing people would just think he's joking. It works for him.

Alexisonfire rules, their first two albums are post hardcore masterpieces and now they've grown into one of the best stadium rock bands to come from Canada.

@@ohalistair that’s taste! I believe they are a great band because first, they are excellent musicians/song writers, and second because each record is very different from the other but you can still feel a coherent evolution in their sound.

I started listening to cannibal corpse first spesifically because i thought it was the coolest name out of the death metal bands

To be fair, Fred Durst said they purposefully gave the band a repugnant name because they didn't want anyone who would be turned off by the name listening to their music anyways.
Finn only hates "We Butter the Bread with Butter" because he failed german in middle school.
One of the biggest disconnects between expectation of what a band should sound like, based on their name vs the reality is "...And you will know us by the trail of dead."

Tbf Alexisonfire was a really big deal for Canadian kids. Canadian radio content laws helped them get a lot of air play in Ontario especially. Their first 3 albums were influential
I really appreciate the more old-school/non typical metalcore drumlines and how they blend with their post hardcore attitude
I don't understand your hate for Audioslave. Like a Stone is one of the best popular songs of that era. The name is dated but it's definitely a time capsule of the time it was made. Like a Stone also just passed 1 billion views on RUclips a couple days ago which made me super happy.

Suicidal Tendencies’ most famous song is literally about not wanting to talk to your mom. So I’d say the name works on all levels.
And I think TDWP falls into that category of names that started bad but work now because of their success. As you said about BMTH.
I saw mushroomhead live and I have a friend who’s also my stage coach at a haunted house that’s soo into them, just because you think they have a penis referencein the name, doesn’t mean they’re less talented.

Brand New is one of my personal favorite bands. Yet I can't help but mention how BAD that name is.
I only discovered them in 2012 or something, so when I first heard their music and loved it, I instantly googled "Best Brand New songs".
And yeah, that didn't work

I ignored Architects for years because I thought they'd be an indie band based on the name. Similarly, I had a friend who kept telling me I needed to listen to an Australian band called Parkway Drive, which just made me think they'd be some sort of surf rock or skate punk.
I'd love to hear you attempt an actual Sheffield accent. I'm in Sheffield tonight and now I'm going to see if I can find someone who sounds vaguely cockney.

Am I alone or does anyone else think XIII by mushroomhead was one of the best Nu metal albums of its era? For me, it was a rare no skip record.
Maybe one of those that Finn would like a bit more if listened to front to back.
I could never get past track #2 of any Mushroomhead release.

@@eatassonthefirstdate I worked at several venues performing various stage and production duties when Mushroomhead first entered the scene and wasn't impressed with the performances. Also they weren't very friendly people. Their attitudes baffled everyone.

The Devil Wears Prada is named after the book that the movie is based off of. In fact they formed in a year before the movie came out, but broke out shortly after.
I do agree with it being confusing. kind of like how some people probably think the band Avatar based their name off the james cameron movie, or Avatar the last airbender, but they started in sweden in 2001 years before the show (2005) and movie (2009), but only became known in roughly 2012

@@ChristopherJames1993 not sure if you’re talking about the tie in comics to Avatar the last Airbender, which came out after the original show ( I’ve seen some fans get butthurt when it’s called an anime ) or some unrelated lesser known manga that predated it. 3d Avatar has a manga tie that takes place between the 2 movies.I understand why people think it’s shitty (it’s usually the cliched indigenous people vs colonizers storyline) but its not quite as shitty as the last airbender movie

To me, Godspeed You! Black Emperor is some really damn good music. I have been into them since my 17 (I am 33) and love them since. They are one of the best post-rock bands that are not only still alive, but still relevant. And oh, dear, their live show, that was just transcendental. GY!BE are timeless.
Any song or album to recommend in particular ? I'm the same age and started listening post rock at 17 also ^^ But I never could get fully into GY!BE and i don't really know why hahaha
@@xavkoston16 I personally find "F#A# Infinity" their best album, but its maybe not as approachable as "Lift your skinny fists" or "Allelujah! Dont bend, ascend" so, maybe, I would recommend these two as starting albums. Songs, I really like are "Anthem for no state pt.1, 2, 3", "Mladic" or "Storm". Hope, you will enjoy them!

Alexisonfire started as an experimental project so they kinda wanted the confusion, in that way it works really well :D It's meant to be a joke about Alexis Fire, the adult film actress. Great music though, the guitarist has a grammy to his name even.

I would like to see Finn do Clawfinger, he would hate the name, then hate the band even more. They're European, they're rap metal, most of their videos are narmy , theyre simultaneously political while being overly edgy, thats half of finn's triggers right there, he'd rip them to shreds.

In defense of Mushroomhead their first 3 albums are actually really good I don't know if Finn has heard their early stuff or not but I think it's better than the song he presented.
Agreed, I think XIII has both songs that still hold up pretty well and songs that don't, Sun Doesn't Rise being one of the worse ones. For anyone new to Mushroomhead I recommend starting with either the XX album which was their major label debut and basically a greatest hits album containing remastered versions of tracks off their 3 self produced albums, or just start with self produced albums like Superbuick or M3. The band today in my opinion is nowhere near as good as it was in the early days with all the lineup changes over the years
Cannibal Corpse is a hell of a name, and tells you what to expect when you listen to their music.
The band name that always amused me had to definitely be the Post Rock band "This Will Destroy You"
Alexis on fire is a great name. And their first album was highly influential in the post hardcore, emo scenes. The album cover really works with the name.

Alexisonfire's first 2 albums are amazing. They do a great job of creating a lot of atmospheric riffs, interludes, and have some great choruses.

Easily one of the best of that scene of post hardcore bands. Their guitar work is way more interesting and memorable than any of their peers and Dallas is a far far better clean singer than anyone else in that scene.
The only weakness is their lyrics are cringe and dumb compared to say Thursday and they really only have two good albums

pop band Maroon 5 started out in the 90's as Kara's Flowers. Despite the soft sounding name their music was actually harder, as they started out playing grunge before switching to lighter alt rock more fitting of that name, but even that still sounds harder than maroon 5

To call back to one of Finn's recent videos, I'd say Alexisonfire's 2nd album Watch Out! is a 10/10 album. I saw them when they were touring for that album playing small clubs and it was an incredible show. Their S/T and Crisis are also top-tier albums.
Oh come on, Christian Death is like the best band ever in Goth culture second only to The Cure. They sound great and are brilliant and different on every album. They are legends.
I realised some of the RATM songs have really long intros.. Know your Enemy, Wake Up, yet their songs aren't boring

Alexisonfire is rad! They are good hardcore/metal from the mid 2000s. Garnered a cult following for a reason because Dallas Green's clean vocals are some of the best to grace heavier music around that time. That's why they're so good!

I love mushroomhead, as they happen to be in my top three. What I'm kind of thrown off about is the level of thought process in the discussion of the band and their name. The name is oddly enough one in the same with their lyrics. Mushroomhead is the cloud after the explosion of the atomic/hydrogen bomb, and the lyrics, much of the time, is highly war-like or pro war if that's better word choosing.
The best mushroomhead songs are their least known ones in my opinion

One of my favourites is jawbreaker. Their music is great but the name kinda sounds like it should have been for a beatdown band. One of the dumbest naming conventions that’s I also kinda love is the sports themed emo/pop punk band names. American football, yellow card, and title fight. The trend probably peaked around 2014 with bands like modern baseball, free throw and I kid you not THREE different bands named: sport, sports., and remembering sports.

I agree. I believe finn doesn't like them because, he sees them still as a local bad. Being from Ohio himself. MH didn't really have a Hit song to kick off..but I love "I'll be Here", it gets no credit.

Some other bad band names that come to mind are Dance Gavin Dance, Real Friends, and any of those ones with a sport in the title (American Football, Soccer Mom, Hockey Dad, etc although Modern Baseball sounds marginally better).
Iron Maiden, Royal Blood, Blink-182, My Chemical Romance, Guns N Roses, Slayer, and Queens of the Stone Age are all really badass names.

Guns N Rose's is two other bands combined, LA Guns and Hollywood Rose.

Really harsh on Mushroomhead. Their first few albums are really better than anyone thinks. I'm not even a fan, their esthetic is not that great, but honestly there are a lot of great songs in their discography. They are not even a nu metal band in my book.

I too was upset with the Auidoslave slander. I feel like it’s a smooth but powerful sound with spiritual lyrics that aren’t thrown in your face. I just think this style of music greatly hits a bias for Finn
