I never realized that the sky was so pure in New Zealand especially nowadays, I hope to live long enough to travel there one day
Dark night sky parks are across the world we have two officially recognised here in Oz.
You won't regret it. It is a beautiful country. Particularly up in the McKenzie country. For people like me who live 57 degrees latitude North, the Southern sky is jammed pack full of stars I don't normally see.
just dont go near auckland the sky is never clear its full of light
Truly there is a God to create some thing so majestic and beautiful
Indeed there is. His name is Jehova and he sent his only son Yeshua to die for our sins for we can keep living and enjoy the true beautys that he has im store for us. God bless you
It's my goal in life to live in this wonderful place until the day I die.
we my dolen we
I’m very fortunate to be born here, I never take NZ for granted :)
Have you been?
Me too
Plenty of jobs in Christchurch
I fooking love this planet. The people can be atrocious at times, but stuff like this helps keep the sanity.
i swear i cant stop watching this... and the combination of music is just breath taking..
I've watched videos on RUclips for 10, 15 years, and this is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen, truly.
This is quite amazing! It looks as of the stars are travelling in a circular motion! Thanks for sharing this great film!
Incomparabile bellezza! Commovente da quanto è bello!
Time lapse ripreso dalla Nuova Zelanda, in una riserva dove è possibile osservare il cielo e lo spazio senza troppe interferenze luminose.
Uno scrigno di gioielli ed aurore boreali! :)

Thanks bro for all the mahi you put into these visual masterpieces. All that energy is going through us everyday and every night, without us even realising how significant it is. If I could collect those stars and eat them I would be a magnificent being. Lots of gratitude for sharing with us your journey and your art form.
New zealand has it all! I would love to live there in the future
I feel the pleasure of living when I see beautiful sites.
We were the witness of viewing this amazing sky Galaxy during our Newzealànd tour last year 2019-2020 .

Thank you very much
Absolutely stunning view. Sickkkk skills by the photographers as well! Hats off to you sir!
MAGIC! Thank you so much for sharing this.
Me and my wife took Fraser's lesson while visiting Tekapo on our honeymoon. Fraser was flexible and built the lesson around what we were interested in. For us, he had 2 telescopes setup.. one for showing us the night's sky and one for photography. He got excellent pictures of the moon & jupiter with my wife's point & shoot. And words can not describe the pictures of orion's nebula with my DSLR. Cost was $80 for both of us. In my opinion a must do while visiting Tekapo,
Truly an amazing video thanks for sharing NZ is so breath taking and stunning
Absolutely stunning. Thanks very much for sharing. Go to Lake Tekapo in 2 weeks, so looking forward to it.

Now that we have a travel bubble with you guys across the ditch maybe I’ll come check out your dark night sky parks- you can come check out our two in Coonabarabran (NSW) and Punyelroo. (SA) 💁🏽♀️

Wow! So amazing! What equipment did you use? Which Cam and which Lens for the great Panorama? Could you please share some details about the capturing? Thak you.
AWESOME !
Dear Fraser Gunn,
We are, an entertainment program in Korea, Dongchimi's production staffs.
Could you please give us a permission to use this video in our program? For sure, we will indicate the source of the video:)
Thanks
Good video
Absolutely love this video!! Who is the artist to this soundtrack? Great music as well, really fits the video.
The sky looks strange. It's like looking at the skybox in a video game.
What technique did you use to make this timelapses. I guess LR Timelapse and Lightroom? Ho do you adjust settings when getting brighter or darker?
Sorry, is this shot at Mount Cook Village or at the Mount John Observatory (near Lake Tekapo)?
WOw...magnifico!!!..Gracias por subirlo..!! =D
10 aliens disliked. Not a big fan of Earth's sky i guess.
Amazing... What time of the year is the best for aurora?
amazing
How do you make this? I want to go do the same. I've been once to try but was cloudy
The universe is so fucking perfect
I wanna go there but when I'm older
So, this is what we're all missing above our heads. Such a terrible shame, and even worse, it's said that by 2040 we'll only see half of what we can now in 2024, which will be almost nothing.
2:17 -is that what the night sky REALLY looks like to the naked eye? It looks like something you can only see through a big telescope
hi
This video is amazing could you tell us when did you take this and at what time.
We were planning to come and visit around may june but are sceptical about short days can you tell us how is the visibility after sunset and what is the best time of the year to visit
does it happen everyday? like would i be able to watch it everyday or just specific days
look carefully and you will find some strange lines at the right side of the star at 3:45
absolutely beautiful mate, thanks for making this and uploading it :)
i have a canon 7D DSLR camera and i would like to get into astrophotography what equatorial mount would you recommend for me a beginner. i cant see much up in auckland but i aim to change that.
Can we see it with naked eye or telescope... And will there be specific days to watch or can we see it every n8....plzzzzzz tell me 🙋
lc Lucky hi Lc Lucky - as long as it’s a clear night you can see the milkyway (but it’s better when there is no moon - or a small crescent moon) there will be some nebula in the night sky all year round, but sadly with your eye even in a big telescope you can’t see the colour - this is captured with Astrophotography ( timed exposures ) if you were referring to the aurora then you have to be lucky this only happens a few times a year (once again much better thou the camera) there is no set time of year for this
@@FraserTK tqqq... So much🙂
What month is that?
すばらしいです
we born, live and die in a giant spaceship
Can I use a few seconds of your footage in my own video? I would also mention you. It would be a pleasure!
😱😍❤️
beautiful!!
4:06 was it in Tekapo - Mt Cook too ? I am planning to go there, info plz. Thanks
Any telescopes that public could use ? Please I am a big big big fan of space would really appreciate ur help
Fantastic video Fraser! Love it! May I know where do you take that spectacular Aurora Australis on 04:15 ? I saw Mount John Observatory, but I'm not sure where to take it from. Thanks Fraser.
He doesn’t seem to respond to feedback…? 🤨
@@rachkate76 yeah
@@juliandimas1951 that’s pretty poor form.
@@rachkate76 he's been busy, and he has no obligation to do so 😁
@@juliandimas1951 everyone is busy actually and everyone has access to social media with the touch of a button.
I didn’t say he’s obligated to do anything- I said it’s poor form, which it is. 💁🏽♀️
Amazing! I love it! I started doing the same, Timelapses but not good as yours!! Congratulations!! Love it love it! Jelous! I would like to learn more! Im in Auckland, so If you want some company in the next trip arround, Im keen to do it! Cheers mate!
Sadly there are no free public telescopes to use - There are 3 groups offering astronomy related things, the biggest is Earth and Sky, they run a star watching tour on Mt John ($105) there is also Tekapo Starlight which offer a naked eye tour in the village ($20) and I offer photography with a telescope (starting from $40). Tekapo is about half way between Christchurch and Queenstown
Fraser Gunn Hi, where in Tekapo is a good spot for catching the southern lights? Will it be possible to catch it from the mt cook observatory area?
I Wnt To Witness This One Day
Hi, I visited Lake Tekapo on March 6, the weather was good and weather website rated that night as good for stargazing. I was able to see stunning number of stars but couldn't see Milky Way. Tried it on 10:30pm and 12:30am but simply can't see it. Is Milky Way observable only from certain spot or hour?
The milky way is best observed late in the summer so around August. You also want a sky that is clear and moonless so as to not dim the light of the milky way. Then even after all that you have to actually spend hours looking at the night sky so your eyes will get used to the darkness and then maybe you'll see the milky way.
and even then it's not going to look like what you see in this video. The cameras these guys used are super sensitive to light and your eyes just aren't sensitive enough. You'll see probably a cloud like thing.
I'd bring a telescope or binoculars if you wanna see it better.
Thanks for the explanation. I gave my luck second chance by joining stargazing trip at Queenstown. The professional guide confirmed that the not-so-obvious patch I observed on sky is actually Milky Way :)
Late summer here is in Febuary .... just a heads up .
Don't you mean Winter? It's the Winter season during the month of August in New Zealand (and the rest of the Southern Hemisphere).
