I've been a car guy for over 50 years and my 16 SS is the best I've owned. Strong engine, poised handling, and excellent quality. The Aussies know how to build a fine car.
I don't get how the styling is bland? You literally cannot miss one of these going down the road. It's a classy looking car but still has that muscle car edge to it.
I've had plenty of people tell me how nice my car looks. just like the one in the vid.. it's way better in person. best purchase I've ever made. the speed and torque are amazing but the handling is out of this world.
@@noodletitan9086 I'll see what I can do but not very tech savy when it comes to youtube, but getting it detailed friday. see if i can get you something.
yeah you would have loved the GTS LSA supercharged version or even the 427 back in the day......some after market guys had over 750 hp versions thanks to HARROP and WALKINSHAW performance guys here....for me i had to import a 2019 Mustang GT in RHD from the factory and superchage it from Herrod performance at a huge cost but 854hp is more than the current GT500!!!
This is the mid-range version of the Holden Commodore. There are 3.8l V6 & Supercharged V8 versions. The full performance version is the HSV R8 & while very expensive by GM/Ford pricing, it will out perform AMG Mercs & BMW M5. Pity our stupid government wouldn't support the Australian car industry...
The car industry was warned that it had to close for 25 years before it finally did i.e. The Button Plan...we could simply not compete for quality & safety & price with Asian/Euro cars. For example, in its last year GMAustralia made a $70M profit...exactly the same amount as the Government subsidy it received. However, clearly we can muster car design standards that compete with anyone globally...it's a long way from the HQ Holden to these absolute beasts with all the addons to compete with any car globally.....
Chevy should've offered an AWD Version. It had an exclusive market and prevented customers in the colder climates from purchasing it as a daily driver. Without AWD, it was difficult to justify buying it.
So look y'all getting on my feet and I want either my favorite Impala SS which is the 96 or should I get the 2017 because of it's discontinuation?? I need your help.
I've gotten more complements on my SS than I ever did on my Mercedes S55-AMG Car. Everyone loves how it looks. Shame on GM turning its back on this Auto. I get why they did it, but still... shame.
I don't the jabs at the styling. it's cohesive subdued but I wouldn't say anonymous. it doesn't scream aggressive in the detailing but in the proportions it does. I like it and have no problem spotting them in the wild. now if I could only afford one. lol
***** They didn't import many at all and they don't advertise it. They weren't looking for mass sales because the design was begin phased out and the factory shuttered in Australia. Now there are rumors the factory is being refitted for another rear drive architecture.
***** Agreed! I hear Dodge will keep the charger and challenger rwd but th he 300 will go fwd. I think that's a mistake. Genesis made its mark with affordable rear drive luxury like the 300. The whole is suv craze is probably putting a damper on it.
We knew how to build good cars in Australia. Sadly Detroit GM didn't agree.....we no longer manufacture Holden cars in Australia which is what this car is. An Australian Holden Commodore.
As is it being such a shame that the Americans do not get this car is the LS9 in it. FYI, The HSV does have the MAG ride though. They are not really missing out on this.
anyone ever do Airade air filter thing (with or without tune)? sure wish my crystal ball had told me about the last 20% deal that was done in 11/17, when I bought in 08/17! They had a prior such deal in 03/17 and i thought that was it, since they shut down production in 04/17. Oh well, at least I got good color.
I'd get the SS with 6 speed Automatic Transmission because Automatic is way better than the Manual Transmission way faster to 0-60 than the Manual Transmission
This is the first video on the SS I have seen where the Cadillac suspension is mentioned. I only found out about this car last month. Hard to find for sure but they are being sols about the same as the when new making it out of my price range. I would rather pay my mortgage down than get in debt for almost $50,000.
It’s a real shame that GM decided to badge it as a Chevy SS. When they should have introducing as the new Chevy impala SS. They even had a more affordable V-6 alternative that could have been the LT model. Most people don’t even know that they even have an LSA supercharge version in Australia as well. Not to mention they’re more powerful LS9 Corvette ZR1 Engine as well. They could have had four different variants of the Impala from the base model V6, base model V8 and the LSA Super charge V8 and the big daddy LSA supercharge motor. GM brass completely missed the mark and fell asleep at the wheel.
i wont miss the bloody bogan's in every city and town lighting up the the rubber after the pub, ,,,,,,,,, , Awh, on second thoughts, yeah i will,,, and miss those who worked and built these and many other Australian Automobiles. We too suffer the" vapid politician" in our creative and life loving community of Australia.
Isamu Wallace what about a compromise? I've got a 15 6 speed, I needed a four door for my daughter. The SS is the best all around 4 door performer. Now I was considering a hell cat but I really wanted a stick.
yo momma Honestly, if you're happy with it, my opinion is moot. I was going to go Hellcat myself, but I'm still a little young for that power and I might have been foolish with it. Thought about the SS, but the styling was a bit too mundane for what it is. If the Charger SRT wasn't available, I'd own a Chevy SS.
Also a 15 manual here. IMO Dodge should offer a manual in the Charger. Not that I would have went that way, because the SS drives better too. But there is no reason the no stick option even if it was only on the SRT or Scat Pack. Some of us buying this much performance want to actually drive the car.
Hahaha this soo funny to see middle east only for past 20yrs chevy SS 6.2 to go to US finally yes it catches fire very easy yes it looks like 80s design yes its ugly but it drive good
Piece of shit!!! My Ford Fusion Sport would blow this turd away. Why would anyone pay that much for a car that's RWD, awful handling in wet/ winter conditions for 1 important thing.
This car is too expensive for all that plastic chrome. Happy to see this boat go. Chevy never gave it a chance to sell with its price and tacky old man looks. Buick has younger styling than this hurst.

RIP Chevrolet SS
*The car sounds so mean and duscusting . I like it.*
You think interiors haven't changed in 15 years?
cdangers nah that part was a load of shit. The interior is a huge upgrade over the SS's previous generation (Pontiac G8)
You could option out the chrome if you don't like it.

freeman Geiger the styling is hideous. It's Malibu from 5 years ago
Blake Swan it was the Chevy family face of the time and the Malibu wasn't hideous. At least to me.
What do you think SS stands for?
Outdoor Life Oklahoma sports sedan
I am going to do something I know that I shouldn't an assume that you are joking right ?
and not an
Super Sport. This is THE top of the line Holden Commodore exported from Australia
Tungsten23. That was a rhetorical question for the host! In America we have had the SS since 1961 on the Impala.
My brother blacked out his chrome and replaced the rims with some Camaro SS rims and it looks so much better. They’re very cool cars.
I want one 😍!
We knew how to build good cars in Australia. Sadly Detroit GM didn't agree.....we no longer manufacture Holden cars in Australia which is what this car is. An Australian Holden Commodore.
True gem
such a let down to australians that we didn't get the magnetic ride control on the Commodore.

its on are hsv that's why . commodore ss is are entry level v8 in Australia
Only the top model HSV which is the GTS and costs almost double of the SS.
Gts 100k aud / ss 45k aud . Double the price easily brand new
Put one in yourself .The ls9 is 24000usd tho
The last American full-size sedan to be available in manual.

Why no adaptive cruise and front automatic braking
I want this car
I might have to seriously consider getting one of these, for the simple fact I have no intention of paying $60,000 or $70,000 further down the line.
Dream car
Just wait a year or two and buy a certified one for a big savings.
if you want one with a manual transmission, they are still going for about $42k at 10,000 miles. People know what they got. Instant classic.
SS is becoming an investment grade collector car. Pristine cond, under 12K mile, no mods. Car books at 41K to 44K, depending on year of car. 02/03/21.
anyone ever do Airade air filter thing (with or without tune)?

I'd get the SS with 6 speed Automatic Transmission because Automatic is way better than the Manual Transmission way faster to 0-60 than the Manual Transmission
the 6 speed is definitely the better transmission. Quicker too.

of course, many brands of cars have initials immediately after brand name and no one thinks twice about.

Sad that GM can't make a car in the USA that won't fall apart. They gotta import from the small country Australia to sell anything good. Weird.
You do know that holden is basically Chevy for Australia. GM has owned them since the 40s? He'll they have a 57 bel air designed holden.
Yup. Well I'm never buying a chevy anyway. I have my eyes on a couple imports. Done with american cars and hype.
