    The MPG on PHEVs always seems to be like that. You've got to have the right usage patterns to make it work. For my X5 almost all my miles are pure EV, or at least have hybrid. For the odd long trip where I get rubbish MPG it's balanced out by the savings the rest of the time. If you're constantly driving it on empty it's a bad choice.

    Question - if you were to set a hybrid in mixed mode with the battery full how far would you expect to be able to drive and with what economy? This question doesn’t seem to be answered in any review. So in this case 30 - 50 miles on full EV and 20 mpg without battery, but what can it do in combo? Cheers

    • @MrAjjm65
      @MrAjjm65 10 месяцев назад +1

      If it is anything like the similar petrol hybrid in my Touareg, the fuel economy is not great in Petrol only mode, expect 20-30 mpg at best. The engine is the same, I suspect but with a few Porsche tweaks. Combined max range, driving in economy is about 270miles.

      I got average of 42mpg in EV mode over 62miles, the battery was flat then and took it back to the dealer, so don't know what it would have done over say 150M. will know after Tuesday 13th as trying again over a longer distance, if not good will order the V6 Petrol instead.

      If I remember correctly it did 36mp over about 215 miles 2-runs of 95 motor miles included, on the same journey the V6 Petrol did 26. The S E is a superior car but waiting list is too long and insurance too high for me.

    Before you dismiss the performance of the Cayman, Rory, check the figures. The base Cayman with PDK and sports chrono will do 0-62 in 4.7secs and top out at 170. So, no, the Cayenne e-hybrid won't leave it for dead! More positively, I recently had a loaner Cayenne e-hydrid for almost a week, in which I drove about 500 miles. The battery was depleted but I still managed about 30mpg which I thought was pretty good considering the weight of the thing.

    @7:44 What is the fuel efficiency when driven like it's supposed to? I mean, driven in hybrid mode, beginning with a full battery rather than in EV only mode until the battery runs flat and then driven the rest of the way in hybrid mode? Why would one drive in EV only mode until the battery dies? If one wanted an EV, they'd get that. But it really should be driven in hybrid mode. To me, it just makes more sense that way.

    • @stevecook706
      @stevecook706 Месяц назад

      Got the Cayenne S E-Hybrid 6 weeks ago, and it'll do 100 mpg around town with the electric motor doing most of the work in hybrid mode. On a long run the V6 will do just over 30 mpg on it's own if you dont engage the electric motor. You can hold the charge at the same level or charge up to 80% using the V6 when it get's low. It's a case of using different modes depending on the type of driving you are doing.

    New one has some downgraded quality pieces. Flappy paddles aren't metal, screens cost less, seats are uglier, the external 'porsche' is annoying to clean (in the light bar on the old one), cheapened the overhead controls, and a few other things. Extra battery capacity/range sounds good, but it's a case-by-case thing. Its heavier and the engine is weaker (compensated by stronger emotor - which is a good thing). Also, keep in mind that its much more expensive. Happy I got my last-year model of the pre-refresh. Also, I love the analogue tach.

    The 2024 Porsche Ceyenne e-hybrid is almost identical to the 2023 model year (not brand new as this video will want you to believe). This SUV remains painfully slow when driven in electric only mode since you only use the small electric motor that has to move now even more mass given the larger battery (I have driven both of them). Thus don’t believe the Porsche marketing pitch and either go all combustion or all electric if you want to have a fun SUV whenever you accelerate.
    P.S. I expected more from this channel especially describing dynamics of electric only driving

      best driven in EV mode, using electric only for town driving / shortish journeys and then recharge.

    If car prices have doubled but peoples wages haven't how do they sell any cars.

    I used to be a big fan of porsche . I owned a 911, spyder and cayenne.
    When i moved to china, that all changed.
    Chinese manufacters are lightyears ahead
    i totally forgot what luxery is about. where are porsche : massage chair, monitors to watch tv , beautiful seats like in the s class, fridge , blinds ?
    oh but performance huehuehue. no chinese EV's have similar power , but also more range
    oh and lets not talk about the price ....
    I hope the west can enjoy true luxery soon enough without having to break the bank

    So, a Touareg R PHEV, with 8 more horse power and a slightly more powerful hybrid motor… which is also the same engine as in the Bentley Bentayga hybrid…

      Indeed, but a smaller battery than the Cayenne.

      @@Floridos that’s the advantage of being part of a huge conglomerate, the parts bin is massive! And they are so skilful with their brand hierarchy and pricing points, so that one brand does not tread on the other’s toes, both in price and image wise. As A Touareg R owner, I have to say that the economy of the petrol engine (V6 335bhp) is horrendous!

      Terrible ride in the latest Touareg, and very low driving position (Might as well have a car!) nothing like as good as the old model, new Cayenne is far superior to the new Touareg in every way.

      @@Ken-h7s without the air suspension I agree. And the seats in the mk2 were the best, like sitting in a Chesterfield armchair! I actually like the driving position for the driving I do, and the body shape makes it less vulnerable to wind buffeting - something I appreciate on the M6 up t’north!
