hey dude, love the channel and all the hard work you put in!
not trying to be safety police here, just wanted to mention that you should think about wearing a respirator whenever you're cutting the hardie material! I work on a lot of commercial construction sites where hardie plank is the go-to exterior finish and every safety orientation I've sat through warns us profusely on the effects of inhaling silica dust. It's said to be the "next asbestos", just wanted to spread the info!
Keep it up boss you're crushing it!

Your ladder escaped reminded me of a time I was trimming a tall bush while on a step ladder. I didn't know there was a bald face hornets nest in the bush until they started swarming around at crotch level. Needless to say I didn't use the last 4 steps of the ladder coming down! Those hornets were getting very close to things that were near and dear to my heart!

Trevor, I’ve been watching you from the beginning. I’m a HUGE fan and appreciate everything your commitment to the channel. (Giving up your day job for instance). As I have taken your advice for many projects that you have done, I finally have some advice for you. DON’T RUSH. It takes the enjoyment out of what you love to do. And, you could get hurt. Projects will always get done. We can always wait.

I really liked your use of snow and ice shield to protect your investment. Back when I was a Field Sales Mgr for a stone company I’d get lots of push back from installers when I demanded it around the windows. My territory had the least amount of warranty calls due to window leaks.

Good work, man. And yes, I just fell off a ladder yesterday, in my garage, between the standing drill press and my welding table! But I was only on top of a 4' ladder so managed to stick the landing. I wish I were as young as you! LOL I don't bounce like I used to.

Hey, big props! The sheds looking great, I love how you're handling all the details and you're doing it quite well! Yes those siding gauges are Awesome. And you did just the right thing popping off the ladder 😅. Rushing is definitely where mistakes are made, but truth be told I oftentimes use scraps under my ladder legs to even out on the ground. Just have to remain thoughtful of directional pressures.

You should always wear a mask when cutting Hardie. You may need your lungs later in life. Plus the joints need a layer of tarpaper that goes behind the joint and overlaps the piece above otherwise you can get water in behind your Hardie. I’ve never seen screws used to install Hardie either. I think you’ll find Hardie says to nail your Hardie plank to the wall.

To find measurements on the Gable ends, you can cut a piece, or two, at a known number from square to long point, say ten, and use that to find your numbers. There is a way to do it using math but I'm unfamiliar with that method.

The extreme angle on that extension ladder will be a bad fall also. Look at the flat sections on the extension ladder rungs. Those should be level with the ground. Look up extension ladder 4:1 rule.

  • @IAMSatisfied

Anyone else get all squirmy when he had the ladder at such a shallow angle @2:33? That way increases the chance of the ladder sliding out from under you. 😅

extension ladder, 10 foot roof, last rung before stepping on the roof, carrying tools, whole ladder slides out from under me. legs get tangled in ladder, luckily dropped the tools on the roof on the way down. landed flat on my back but nothing broken. that was the day i learned how to ratchet strap a ladder to whatever i was climbing.
