    There’s also a great class on Skillshare about a very flexible and approachable minimalism challenge: “Everyday Minimalism: Find Calm & Creativity in Living Simply” by Erin Boyle. You can grab your one-month free trial of Skillshare by using my link: skl.sh/anagoldberg11231

      Hi and thanks Ana. I can see you teaching on Skillshare. Your lessons are so meanful and .experiences and growth powerful. I empathize with having to wash one's clothes and feeling shame. I remember being teased as kid for having off white, dirty shoes and pressure to fit in with most new expensive, trendy clothes and accessories. I sometimes still have urge to have more of them. What really matters isn't things you are right. Thank you again.

    Dear Ana, I love what you said about clothing being there to make us feel good, not to look good to anybody’s standard. For me, minimalism is about the very same thing. It just makes me feel good.
    When somebody once gifted me a whole summer wardrobe, I suddenly had six pairs of pants.
    I didn’t know what to do with them, my brain doesn’t compute so many possibilities of choice. Since then, 2 to 3 pairs are always in the basement and I exchange them in a yearly rotation.

      @anagoldberg  7 месяцев назад +4

      Rotating your own wardrobe gives the often needed feeling of "newness", I like it!

    So often we don’t value ourselves as priceless. We have allowed others (peers, culture, society…) to determine our worth. I love how you have shared a way to embrace ourselves, our uniqueness and the value of our preferences. You do you. Thank you for telling me I’m ok.
    All by myself, I’m ok. 🙂

    You truly are a blessing. I am always grateful that you share your wealth of knowledge. I love all the lessons but the last one is very important to me. I have simplified all areas of my life to maintain a sense of calm. Carving out moments of stillness and solitude have become extremely essential for me.

    Thinks have energy and everything we own we carry with us physically or mentally. I think half of the happy feeling we get when we travel or go on holidays is because we don’t have so many things with us 😄

    Ana. You are proof that it isn't things aren't what make you happy. The transformation in you from when I first watched you is so dramatic. The change in you now that you are with your husband and have freedom to make decisions in how to live your life has made such a difference. You're growing in wisdom and sharing it with others.

    Dear Ana. I have followed your progress for a long time, a few years. Your life and your philosophy has impacted my choices surrounding my current own move from England back to the US.
    I have given away everything. Keeping only a handful of keepsake items, one book, my writing equipment and my clothes. All fit in two suitcases and a small daypack.
    My life back in the States will be very different than when I left. My past maximalist lifestyle lead only to poverty of spirit and a craving for more of everything.
    Embracing minimalism has given me more space to pursue what truly fills me...writing and creating quilts... as I decluttered the dross from decades of so many other hobbies, crafts and interests that scattered rather than consolidated me.
    I choose to live minimally and intentionally from now on and to be far "richer" than I ever was when I was weighed down by stuff.
    Thank you for being a shining beacon of light. Laura x

    Dearest Ana I loved all of these lessons. I’m never tempted by Black Friday - just the thought of being in huge crowds to buy something that I probably don’t need - Not for me at all. I have reached the point where I am totally happy & grateful for what I own. Thanks for such a wonderful video - your content is exceptional ❤ btw loved the gloves ! 🧤

    I have recently started watching and being absolutely fascinated by the minimalism concept. I have indeed started pruning stuff from my living space and , what freedom!!! This is the first time I am writing a comment. I have enjoyed the gentle, unassuming style of the way you share. Will definitely look you up some more 😊

    Dear Anna, couple of weeks ago, you encouraged me to start with drawing. I am so happy now because I started doing coloring. I bought some colouring books and now I do it regularly and I am so happy I can...my next step, Id like to buy some aquarel colours and start learning aquarel. I also want to go back to music one day but I completely burnt out with playing. I played a lot and I had to stop because it was just to get better and I realized that I cant get better without a proper professor. And I couldnt have a professor because of my panic attacks. So now ihave to think about why should I play and how...but thank you❤❤ Petra

    All of your points are so thoughtful and well made. On my own path towards minimalism, I have found that my current biggest challenge is the fantasy selves that want stuff to do the things they think thry "could" do. Of course, there is not the time to do all these things, and the reality is that over the years I have acquired a lot of items that I have used only once or twice, if at all. So now I am in the process of letting them go. There is a certain amount of grief and pain from ackniwledging my limitations, but on the other side is freedom to concentrate on just a few things that really bring me joy.

    Great topic dear Ana 👍. I totally relate to lesson no. 4 (as the rest of your lessons). Our self worth is not defined on what we own. True words. We define our worth. I too agree that value doesn't lie in the price, but in the feeling I get from them. Thank you. I'm sending you virtual hugs 🤗.

    Very appropriate and useful reminders especially in this time of the year with black Friday at full speed and the run-up to Christmas starting right after that 😔 There's a belief according to which even inanimate objects have a vibrancy and an energy which is proper to them, a belief in an overcomprehensive spirit permeating everything, I think it's called panpsychism, so maybe we should treat our belongings with more respect and care (I speak for myself, of course). That said, I sincerely thank you for helping me out of the black friday craze 🙏 👋

    • @anagoldberg
      @anagoldberg  7 месяцев назад +1

      I've read some about panpsychism and I do believe in certain aspects of it. Things do have energy and they accumulate energy from us, their users. Thank you for reminding me of this interesting concept! 🌸

    I love this. "My self worth is not defined by what I own." I quit a very toxic job last week and have been struggling to not be anxious/stressed about not being able to give some of my more materialistic family members the sorts of gifts I know they'd expect. I hand made some of them scarves a few years back and they were never used, so sadly I don't feel I can make something for them that they will appreciate. I hope they don't define my love and care for them by what material goods I can or cannot provide. I'm hoping that my presence will matter more than presents (ha), especially now that a weight has been lifted off my shoulders from no longer being in a toxic working environment. I feel lighter and happier.

    Good to see you, Ana! My purchasing weakness has been crafting supplies, but I've recently become interested in making junk journals which is a bit like scrapbooking, but the premise is you try to use mostly things you would normally throw away such as packaging, junk mail, old magazines, etc...At first I was skeptical, but I've discovered that it has actually made me stretch more creatively, and I feel good about less waste while spending less money.

    gee that was a very instructive video Ana! I especially liked your point that the value of things is how we feel about them and what joy they bring to us. One of my most treasured items is a 100 year old spatula that my Grandmother brought with her from Europe when she came to the U.S. It has no value of its own but to me it is worth its weight in gold. I truly value your insights and how clearly you present them.

    Bonjour très chère Ana !! I love your deep insights on these subjects, thanks a lot for your sharing 😊 When I am in a urge to buy an item, what really helps me if to think about the way I can create or recreate it myself, not necessarily in the exact same way but capturing its essence... it has some benefits : using my creativity so I'm proud of me not to have bought it first and secondly because I have created something and lastly being so deeply in the process of creating, there's no chance I could see other things to buy ☺️ See you soon dear friend, sending warm hugs to you 🍁🧡🧁
