I tell my kids that needs are that which keep you alive. Everything else beyond that is a want. iPhone: want Brand new shiny/flashy car: want Enough clothes to keep you warm: need Enough food to keep you alive: need
It's far cooler to live below your means and have disposal cash, than live beyond your means and be broke. I learnt this relatively late in life, from which point my experience of day to day life improved dramatically. Great message.
Totally...living minimal but not being "broke" is the way to go. You feel like so much more is possible and in control of happiness. Easier to live more intentional.
Whenever I see videos speaking about money. I always wish people knew what I knew about money and how it’s not so difficult to hit your financial target if you know the right steps to take. Honestly, I see Not making upto a million before retirement as an unfulfilled retirement. I’m 54 and my wife is 50 . We are both retired with over $3million in net worth and no debts. Currently living smart and frugal with our money. No longer putting blames on the FED for our misfortunes. Saving and investing lifestyle in the stock market made it possible for us this early. Even till now, we earn weekly.
I feel one Of the greatest challenges that we first timers face in the ma rket is that we end up losing all we have, making it difficult to find ourselves back to our feet. My biggest advice is to always seek the services of a professional just like I did when I ventured into it for the first time. Big thanks to Larysa Caba. I now make huge profits by weekly through her services while still learning to stand on my own.
I have never seen a trader as open and transparent as Larysa Caba with her clients. The way she decides to make a profit for her clients. she allows you to express your fears and she still rests your fears and that is my respect. I don't normally comment on videos, but this word should be included. she is really cool.
With her assistance, i was able to diversify my 4k$ portfolio across multiple markets, earning over 9k$ in net profits from high end dividend yielding stocks, ETFs, and bonds in just a few months.
My 8 yr. old granddaughter watched this with me. I said, I am rich. She listened. We have 10 smart and wonderful grandchildren, a warm home, food. She repeated what I said about saving for rainy day or something really special.
I m 77 and husband 72. It takes time and experience to get where you are speaking of. I now have a real plan. A lot of money not always gives happiness but a plan to use it wisely helps.
minimalism + eat vegan + meditation = healthy + happiness + relief + sufficient. that's my life running now after lifestyles crisis. You're so gentle, lady, like my life right now . ❤❤❤
Right. It's funny how it takes time to come full circle. The earlier you can do it the better. From economic and health chaos to intentional. Eat well, Exercise a little, Invest monthly, Live below your means, Read, Enjoy, Appreciate. Splurging on what you love feels fantastic.
" When I'm not grateful, my wanting is a bottomless pit." So so well said Connie. Wow.... this has spoken to me BIG TIME! I am so glad I saw this video during my break at work. I was transported from the busyness of clients and emails, to the peace and calm of this video, appreciating the breathtaking nature, the Klezmer music (!) and your ever reassuring and authentic voice, explaining to us how to simplify our lives...and better ourselves. This is exactly what I needed to receive today. Thank you Connie. I love your videos and truly appreciate your insights and admire how you have transformed your life. I finally have come to the realization that I can change and create a better and happier life for myself. I am grateful 🙏❤
your phrase about when youre not grateful your wanting is a bottomless pit is so rich - how true that is - when I find my needs met in my relationship with my Creator I finally stop chasing x
My Dad taught me not to live above my means. I am not financially rich. But l am rich in many other ways. I have invested in myself. I find joy in helping others. 🎉❤😊 l do want to grow financially, as well. 🎉 Looking forward to a fresh season. Thanks, Connie.
Connie, I love your thoughtfulness. I look at money as freedom of choice. We've radically changed our spending habits the last 2 years. I find I feel happier working towards a minimalist lifestyle.
I know that there are lots of people who could live more like this and don’t but I hope you appreciate that sometimes a person does not have the option of staying at home or working part time which is really what it takes to have the time to do everything from scratch. Some people have to work 2 low paying jobs and that’s just reality. I’m very grateful that I could work part time when my kids were young and it was a decision we made to have less stuff but more time to do all these things. The world is a little different today snd I see that my grown kids have to struggle more to achieve the same goals.
So true. This lady seems to have quite a lot. No disrespect. But millions are just hope to have the fraction what she have ( where she lives). And even if you have a little, some cannot afford to keep it up. Or even put enough on the table every day. The needs and wishes of each individual and family is probably very very different… Depending on how / where do you live, what do you do, how many people are under your care and so many more… etc. Some thoughts are great in this post, but unfortunately it cannot be simply attached to anyone. We can take away some… Or be critical… These thoughts can be seeds to find your own way and solutions. And create your journey and make your life better… even if it is just one tiny step at a time. 🫶
I appreciate that you include an angle of your mixing bowl that shows the chip. At first glance, I was like, "can we see one video where there are unmatching bowls, cups? etc.? like in reality for most of us living simply?" and then I saw the chip, so, thanks for that :)
I learned early in life that fame and money won't make me happy (probably temporarily)... positive people around me, my health, safety, my senses, and the roof above my head.are enough to make me happy, and I am truly grateful for all of these🙏
7:42-7:49 This is the mindset I need to get into. I spend too much time shopping buying things I barely like, just when I get bored, sad or anxious. Being grateful is really challenging at time. But we have to remind ourselves everyday . “I have enough” and “I have everything I need”
I have a friend that does this. No anxiety so not sure why she does it. I worry for her about hoarding. Buying things she doesn't need just because they are on sale. Wondering if something is missing in her life that she feels shopping will fill. Then later cannot even find her new things 🤷🏾♀️ because they are stashed somewhere. In actuality they are unuseful to her. I consider wanting vs needing everytime I purchase. Helps tremendously. Also find hobbies u like in your spare time. Also helps me not WANT as much.
I understand your struggle. I developed an online shopping addiction some years ago. I am doing much better now, but I still often feel the urge to shop. Meditation helps me. I try to remember that my only true belongings are my actions.
I lost everything in GFC......best gift ever. Hard lesson but even got rid of all the toxic hangers on too. The more you own and the bigger the home...the more you clean and curate.....And the lessons my kidults learned at the time? Priceless......❤
Very well put video. These principals are already in the Bible written 1000s yers ago. But the benefits are still practical and very beneficial. If everyone would practice it….. being content, not being greedy, be happy with nature and spiritual things, count your blessings, and be happy in giving not receiving. It’s very easy and gives a lot of joy 😅
You keep that kitchen table, it is beutiful and so are you, i became a minimalist and it changed my life, i can literaly work a few days a month and pay all my expenses, now i have time to really care about things , like now i have time to pull off the road and help someone fix their tire, things like that because i am not in a hurry. I am glad you found this out to. Peace be with you.
My daughter sweetly led me into minimal living when I was widowed, and downsized to a 4 room cottage from a large family home and even larger garden. I took only what I need and love. E.g. My Yorkie.😅 I chose not to buy more clothes until I'd used the mountain I had. Many with labels still on. I love my new lifestyle. Thank you for sharing your video Connie. ❤
I too down sized when I was widowed. I have limited things in use and a stock of backups, when an item wears out or gets broken I replace it from my back up stock. 2 years later I am still using up the back stock of toiletries and cleaning materials, duplicate cloths and household linen.
"Living below your means" adjust your lifestyle, be frugal, budget, save and invest. This helped me as a 6 figure earner. I've grown over a million in retirement savings with this method
@Charlotte-dx4goDon't panic, start out easy, don't buy things you don't need, budget every money, always save a portion of your pay atleast 5%, invest from your paycheck; it grows and helps you accumulate wealth easily.
@Charlotte-dx4goread books, gain the knowledge, set a plan or target goal to reach, get a pro financial expert lead you; follow consistently. You can also build a passive income channel from your investment
- So many Thoreau quotes come to mind watching this video. Here’s 3. - “That man is richest whose pleasures are the cheapest.” “ The price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it.” “Wealth is the ability to fully experience life.”
So true Connie. By excluding unnecessary wants, and only spending on what we need makes a huge difference in our lives. Also by going over what I have gratitude wise, this reminds me I'm doing ok, I have enough. Lastly, I love the shots of lakes and mountains brilliant.
I had a similar experience, reduced my spending and was working a regular full-time job and my partner is working a regular job nothing crazy. Saved a lot of money and really reduced the stress of life on us.
This video totally resonates with me. Since choosing minimalism and having less material things to maintain, my peace and my money have both increased. Friends say that my home feels peaceful and it's always so clean. Truly, I don't spend a lot of time cleaning because I don't keep a lot of stuff. How I live is no secret...a couple of them have commented that they're just not to this point yet. I do understand. Thank you for sharing this.
Wonderful video….I am so overwhelmed now a days due to many things in my life and trying to adopt minimalist approach to declutter my life by removing 80% unnecessary things.
Your channel is so helpful. I grew up in a very materialistic era and thought that's how you show that you're in control of your life, you're safe, you're good and no one needs to worry about you but I learned after years of excess and having to get rid of all of my things about 50 times over because I was forced to move. I didn't realize until this video that comfortable loving and materialism is a massive distraction away from what's seriously important. I could never seem to get to what's important. Now I see why. Thank you! Life changer right here. ❤
Thank you so very much for all your videos. These are very powerful messages. We so often forget that we do have enough, no need to buy more and more. Some pit inside of us demands it. It has to be addressed in a matter other than shopping. You are wonderful!
Wise words. Taking time each day to appreciate all that I have has been a game changer. It is something that takes a little practice and "a time out for yourself."
Connie, I can remember just over a year ago your subscriptions totalled just under 20,000. I was so surprised today you have reached over 100,000!!! Congratulations! Well deserved.
I can hear the sincerity in your voice. I thank you for sharing, this is the direction I want to go. I have wanted things so long that by the time i received the money i lost the desire but what i realized was that i dont need everything thing. God bless you and yours.
You're absolutely right. We get to define the things that makes us feel rich, joyful, grateful, create space for the things that brings meaning, and be abundantly blessed. We're all here to have fun, be free, love one another, and create a world within that's filled with possibilities.
I really like your video with many nice sceneries. Thank you for sharing a beautiful thoughts as well. I myself love minimalist way of life. Many blessings to you 🙏🏻💖💞✨
Excellent. I have been living like this since 2017 and it's been easier and easier. At first, I was struggling with the 'wants' now I am grateful for the 'haves'.
You are such a beautiful human being, dear Connie. Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom with us. May the most beautiful happiness always be with you and fulfill your ❤️
So grateful, Connie, for moments of beauty and quiet reflection that you create and share with us. I always come away feeling more centered and peaceful...and gently nudged toward living a better life, one good choice at a time.
Connie, I have just discovered your beautiful and inspiring channel. Thank you for your spiritual take on frugality. Your thoughts around gratitude really chime with me. If one listens to one’s heart, it all makes sense to simplify and appreciate what we already have. ❤
Connie you have taught me that possessions are not wealth but happiness is. My minimalist journey continues. Tomorrow is another journey of growing gratitude. Wealth is being compassionate and caring. Greetings from Australia
100 percent correct!! I actually wish we could downsize and have less sized house and just be simple, I have decluttered to where I can't declutter any more, however my husband doesn't wish to move or declutter any more and I have to respect that. :)) I would be happy living in a shoebox as long as I have my family and love around me. Love Jo in Australia xxx
Lots of love Jo. I am learning to downsize and declutter as well. It is very hard. When I grew up we had barely nothing and now the habbit of collecting things is strong. But I'm learning to change that. My husband also do not follow it as much as I do. And also this is his right 😊 Have a great day!
Appreciate the way you spend your life. The lifestyle you choose makes you abundant in time, resources, physical, mental and spiritual health. Your life is precious, worthy of living.
I spent 30 years collecting and refurbishing furniture to my liking. I love my art on the walls that I dug for in thrift shops. I paid cash on the spot. I love my electrical appliances, smoothies, air fryer, microwave, toaster oven, deep freeze, and blenders, seed grinders, sewing machine, and I use them all of the time I paint flower pots, and rocks, I propagate plants for gifts in painted pots.I just made 2 birdbaths out of scraps this week. They are surrounded by flowers. The butterflies get drinks too. I am 73, have many health restrictions, but my mind is of a 20 year old.. I think of neat stuff to do. Raises my self esteem! My garden is beautiful right now. My puppy is sleeping on my lap.😇
There is some surprising bit of memory-lane here for me: a few years ago, I worked on the restoration of the church at 7:22, and the busking band heard at 8:21 played every other day on the plaza below, providing the soundtrack.
Gosh I found you by accident and was enthralled,it’s so true what you say in your video.I have now subscribed and I have to comment on the surroundings you have, what a gorgeous view.x
Such a beautiful video. Thank you so much. I love being a minimalist. Being married into a greedy family I miss the days when I was supposedly poor but incredibly happy.
Thank you so much Connie, this was the first time I saw a video of yours, and your calming voice, wise words and quiet setting really resonated strongly within me. Grateful to you, because this made me cry, as it touches deeply on many aspects that I’m not living right now, so very grateful for allowing me to really step back into myself, towards my needs and wishes in life, my own values. This will not be the last video I’ll be watching and savoring from you. Thank you! ❤
Lovely calming video, with beautiful scenery and a great message on how we can all apply these to our own lives and see our true wealth. I hope you enjoyed your time in Munich and at Neuschwanstein!
Me encanta ver los videos de esta mujer me hacen reflexionar y darme cuenta que lo material no da la felicidad necesariamente como mucha gente piensa … Hermoso video.
Good morning Connie, Your voice is soothing, warm, and beautiful. I enjoyed watching your channel with a cup of coffee on Sunday morning. Thank you for making such a peaceful and useful video. Have a wonderful day :)
You have helped me so much lately I thank you I’m 31 and I’m a female who gets excited to buy things I have saved thousands of dollars working 2 jobs that I both loved but I would splurge also. I’m married now with children and if I want something I’ll pick it up think about you and I put it back I only buy what I need now. I tell myself I have enough earrings enough clothes etc I do not need more. When I was pregnant is when I went on to nesting mode and the Minimalist just made since.
I have learnt..many things in my time...but the biggest wealth....I your health...and NO MATTER HOW MUCH MONEY YOU HAVE..... WEALTH CANNOT BE BOUGHT .........🙂. X
When I moved, and didn’t bring most of my things with me, I bought a table from a secondhand shop, which left almost new, and I’ve got so many compliments on it.
I should say, I just didn’t bring most of my furniture with me because it was just Ikea furniture, and not worth the expense to move it so my furniture that I did move was sort of old anyway
This is really inspiring Connie, the slow pace and all the subtle messages, not to mention a wonderful recipy, thank you for sharing ! Greetings from Norway
I really love how you told this story, so beautiful, and I love camping too! "Living below your means" is not something I understood in my 20s, now at 30 with a 2 year old that is my goal by the end of the year. Love your content!
I have all I need because I have God in my life. I have The Lord Jesus Christ. Honestly I have all I need, better of then a millionaire honestly. We were created for God therefore when we have God in our Life we are Truly Blessed and fulfilled ❤😊
Love quiche so the recipe is a bonus for watching this awesome wisdom. To answer your question on ways i live a minimalist life by focusing on developing my utilizing my talents to be productive that way i meet a need and are more fulfilled.
what a really excellent point about the effects of consumerism on our pocketbook as well as our peace of mind! (But I am one of the few people you'll ever meet that positively loathes quiche....lol).
What are the ways you live a wealthy life?

Amen to that!
Very true 🎉
That is true :(

I love minimalism. People just need to distinguish between wants and needs. We actually need relatively little but want way too much.
100% correct, and it is often the hardest to figure out exactly what these things are.
Exactly . Spot on.
True. Lots of energy is spent chasing stuff.
I tell my kids that needs are that which keep you alive. Everything else beyond that is a want.
iPhone: want
Brand new shiny/flashy car: want
Enough clothes to keep you warm: need
Enough food to keep you alive: need
Nicely said. Now to REALLY give your kids a boost, start them investing asap into low cost index funds!@@dana7340

Just found you. Love your calm and relaxing demeanor. So refreshing in the world of noise and chaos. Subscribed.

Excellent. I have been living like this since 2017 and it's been easier and easier. At first, I was struggling with the 'wants' now I am grateful for the 'haves'.

Very informative. Love to see
Loved the pictures of Neuschwanstein and Munich! Thanks for another thoughtful video.
Connie you have taught me that possessions are not wealth but happiness is. My minimalist journey continues.
Tomorrow is another journey of growing gratitude. Wealth is being compassionate and caring. Greetings from Australia
I adore minimalism and this is true life indeed....you simply uttered what I feel and aspire for ....thank you
I'm so glad you enjoyed this video!
Was he raised poor? It's my observation people who grew up poor in small homes want to live in big homes and have a lot of unnecessary things.
Lots of love Jo. I am learning to downsize and declutter as well. It is very hard. When I grew up we had barely nothing and now the habbit of collecting things is strong. But I'm learning to change that. My husband also do not follow it as much as I do. And also this is his right 😊 Have a great day!
It is so comforting to have a positive bank balance. It also gives confidence in life and happiness
Being thankful is such a simple, yet powerful way to live. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with all of us.
Good Morning Mam
This is Prof.Prakash from India.

Appreciate the way you spend your life. The lifestyle you choose makes you abundant in time, resources, physical, mental and spiritual health. Your life is precious, worthy of living.
Rich is to have words of God to our hearts thats the biggest thing in our life.
Thank you, it's all that i need to see.
I want to learn to enjoy a simple life. That’s the true beauty of living a fulfilling life.
Owe I love to see the hammock... Being Brazilian I really love spending time on my hammock.
Thats so funny!
We just downsized and have very little storage space. We are so glad to rid ourselves of clutter.
Yes live below your means I learned in my fifties

I meant to write my furniture that I did Not move
This is really inspiring Connie, the slow pace and all the subtle messages, not to mention a wonderful recipy, thank you for sharing ! Greetings from Norway
Gratitude makes me happy. It needs know money. Only to be here in stillness in this moment. Consciousness
