Taekwondo, I was taught, was a Korean military combat technique that mostly uses kicks due to the fact you have a rifle in your hand. There are definitely hand to hand parts in TKD but your kicks are the absolute focus and most important thing.
I never threw a punch sparring, which was my own fault but like Rogan said, I don't know how to do this! TKD never taught me hand to hand, mostly just feet to head lmao

All I'm sayin, is if you wanna fuck someone up in a street fight, or a kickboxing match, learn Judo or Jiu Jitsu. Those styles are much more offensive. TKD is purely a defensive combat style

But i noticed two very important things it teaches you positioning and gauging distance and the average person who doesn't practice any form of martial art isn't actually aware of distance so the side kick or front kicks with shoes on are absolutely devastating its definitely not useless just depends on the circumstances just like every other martial art that's why MMA is superior to all forms

@@Chriscraft-ug3sz See the problem with using kicks as your main weapon is that it's unpredictable. The ground, your footing, the concrete... Everything is unpredictable. If a tkd master decided to do a body roundhouse close range in jeans or in shorts he still has a very high chance of slipping. And even then there is no guarantee that someone would be incapacitated enough after that kick. So now your at a disadvantage since you just finished your kick and they can throw hands at you.
Also the Korean military using tkd does not prove your point. As a matter of fact it actually just proves how stupid and useless the military is in Korea (barehanded). Because in the battlefield there is almost 0 situation where you will be barehanded in combat. And when it does your risking it using your feet instead of hands? On the muddy trenches? Rainy day? Or in an environment where everything is uncomfortable? It really doesn't make any sense.

Explantion for those who need it: taekwondo was not made for sport. It was made for soldiers. Hand techniques are lacking because soldiers have guns in their hands. Below I break down some basic taekwondo techniques and the real world purpose.
First, back fist and knife hands. Neither is a technique you want to be in a position to use; however, if an enemy grabs your barrel these techniques are game over. Letting go of your gun with your forward hand to prepare the strike, you pull your gun and your enemy toward you with your other hand as you strike. Freeing control of your barrel allowing you to perform taekwondo's ultimate move... the trigger pull.
Second, most taekwondo kicks while powerful are niche. Taekwondo is about establishing a standoff range with an enemy. As such the most effective and useful taekwondo combo is a straight front kick into a jumping front kick. If your enemy is in range to grab your weapon when you point it at them do this first. The first kick is to knock your enemy off balance hopefully preventing them from pointing their guns or knives at you, and the second is to deliver damage force. When done right your enemy will be knocked back to a safer distance allowing you to perform taekwondo's ultimate move... the trigger pull.
TLDR; Taekwondo wasn't made for sports or prolonged hand to hand combat. It is for Korean soldiers to use when necessary in warfare. It is far from useless in the real world.

I got bullied and physically assaulted and verbally harassed in the change room of the teakwondo area as I was in teakwondo back then in 2017.
I also got grabbed in the throat while I was in the change room in the building where I did teakwondo after my teakwondo practice was done. It started off as a peaceful conversation then the individual physically grabbed my throat for no apparent reason.
I squeezed the persons arm really hard that he let go. In that position I didn't even know what to do back then but to grab the arm and squeeze.
That is because teakwondo has high lack of self defence from up close and from grabbing and potentially choking someone too.
Now since I know Jujitsu, since I started in 2019. I have the skills and knowledge and I exactly know how to get out of situations that are physically close and taking down the person from the middle to upper body instead of kicking.
Teakwondo didn't teach me anything about self defence with being on the ground or a grappler that is aiming for your t shirt or upper body.
Jujitsu on the other hand taught me alot in defence training and taking someone down to the ground if they try to grab my shirt or throat.
Jujitsu, judo and boxing are the best martial arts and self defence in my opinion. And just of the experience I had in the past.

What he was really looking for he should have mixed these striking techniques from boxing , itf kickboxing teakwondo , Dutch kickboxing , Muay Thai , wushu sanshou & 52 blocks dirty boxing system . And he was gone really have to practice .
Teakwondo actually do have hands bro just took up wtf teakwondo he should have went for Itf teakwondo and it’s basically kickboxing side of tkd and used better on defense .
