- Hot Milk Cake is a soft and classic Vanilla Butter Cake that melts in your mouth! It's delicious as simple cake for breakfast or you can cut in layers and fill it with whipped cream, it's the perfect basic cake ever!
It holds its shape, so I suggest you to not use a too thick or dry frosting.
It's important that you pour the milk very hot in the cake batter to get the perfect moist crumbs that you can see in the video.

When I say this cake is BOMB, it really is. I’ve already made it 4-5 times. I don’t really like butter so I use 3 tbsp oil instead of 1/4 cup butter. It always turns out sooo good. Thank you for the amazing recipe!

Hi Fiona! Yes, it's a common simple cake in Italy, we usually don't make cake with a lot of butter. I tried to make it even with room temperature milk too, but the taste and texture come out different, it's like a magic method :D

Hey! How do I cool down the cake if I use disposable laminated paper loaf pans? The ones that are there at bakeries for cake loaves and are wrapped with cling wrap. Is there a need to line that pan with a butter paper and then take it out to cool to avoid condensation?
You can use them like classic cake pans, but be careful to grease and floured it (or line it with parchment paper) or the cake will stick to it.

Can you share the picture of the cup size for measurement reference ?
Hi Sameeksha and welcome here! I refer to 240ml cup. I think that seeing a picture of the cups couldn't help you for the measurement. Anyway, I usually don't use cups for baking, but grams, that are more precise. If you can, I suggest you to invest in a kitchen scale
I'm thinking I'd like to add some lemon zest to this. Do you think it would hurt the structure of the cake?
Hi James and welcome here! The structure and texture of the cake will be the same, lemon zest will change the taste. It won't have milk and butter taste, but it will taste like a lemon cake.

Hi dear Baazil. It depends on your oven and how you set it. What kind of oven do you use? Fan electric oven or gas oven? Usually gas oven tends to burn the bottom of the cakes and don't cook enough the top. Is this your case? I bake this cake with an electric fan oven with upper and lower heat. I'm not a chef, I've learned from my mother and grondmother that were chef :)
I actually use an OTG. Is that the case. Aww how sweet, but you still cook so well.

I've never tried but I think it's not the perfect cupcakes recipe (mostly If you want to frost your cupcakes with buttercream), even if they surely turn out ok.

If they look pale and shiny on top, it depends on your oven and how you set it. What kind of oven do you use? Fan electric oven or gas oven?
