It's a great Sunday morning watching you walk around Gatlinburg, Tennessee and seeing all of the great places along with the scenery as well as the places to shop and eat, Thank You for another wonderful video and have a wonderful week Thank You very much.🤠👍🌞🇺🇲
Henry, your videos are absolutely perfect for people considering visiting a location! I used to visit Gatlinburg every year in the late 80s and early 90s. I haven't been back since, and wow, has it changed. The only thing I noticed that hasn't changed were a couple of businesses AND the massive amounts of people! My 2 sons, Mother and I, headed there earlier this year. We had a gorgeous 5 bedroom cabin, but once we got there, a storm had knocked the power out! No one was prepared to stay without power, and with my Mom having Parkinson's, we ended up heading back to Ohio that very day! We called all the hotels and looked online for 3 hours to find a place between Knoxville and south of Gatlinburg... and everything was booked solid. Seeing your video made me thankful that we didn't add any more stress to the trip by actually going into Gatlinburg. I laugh, but no thanks on this kind of destination! Let's go back to the Dolomites!! 😁 Here is $10 to buy yourself a decent cookie (you mentioned cookies around the 32-33 minute mark🍪😋). Thanks for sharing, Henry!
Wow. Thanks so much for your generosity. I’m so sorry your trip didn’t work out but it’s often those types of hiccups that stick in our memories. All the best and thanks again. -H
Hi K, I didn't have time on this trip but I did take a back road to town and it was gorgeous country. A significant contrast from town. That said, I think a lot of families would enjoy Gatlinburg and it's many activities. -H
Such a beautiful place Tennessee...wonderful place for walking ....feels so good to watch this walking video ...lovely surroundings...thanks for sharing👍👍👍
Great walk as usual, you definitely captured Gatlinburg.😊. We have visited a couple of times. We usually rent a cabin in the smoky mountains and do the trails up there. One tip, go during the week to hit the “town”. A little less crowded and more manageable. Thanks for the tour!
Hi, Henry! The only time I've been to Gatlinburg was over 50 years ago. I loved your beginning with the Great Divide, and the walk was a revelation. Thanks for a (hot) walk! 😄
Hi Jasmine. I imagine it was a bit different and a bit more quiet back then. It's hard to believe we've been around long enough to say "50 years ago" (though I'm more like "40 years ago). Thanks so much for watching and for all your support and comments. Cheers. -H
I enjoyed this walk. Scenery beautiful. Just a strange eclectic mix of beauty and tourism. One can complement the other but in this case I think it is a shame. Taking nothing away from your walk though Henry. Once again thank you
Hey there and thanks for commenting again. I love the interaction with viewers. Yes, I think I was struck by the contrast between the shady, forested mountain roads and the sudden entry into the hurly burly of a tourist town. While I prefer the forest side, the town certainly draws a LOT of people so they must be doing something right for some people. I'd like to go back in cooler weather and do some forest hikes in the area. It really is beautiful. Thanks for watching and all the best. -H
Hey Henry, very cool tour a little touristy but nice and i found it very interesting. The town seems to be very family orientated, i bet the mountain trails are spectacular. very nice tour i did enjoy it. Maybe at some point you can do Deadwood that would be an interesting town to vlog.
Hi Brett, Yes, different strokes for different folks and I'm sure kids would have plenty to enjoy in Gatlinburg. I was just shocked at the transition from beautiful winding forest road to jam packed downtown theme park vibe. I was a little harsher than the town deserves for sure. I've actually already filmed Deadwood though it was with a 360 camera in 2018 so the quality is not as good. citywalksvirtualtours.com/deadwood-south-dakota-vr-and-2d/
Hi Henry. Thanks for sharing this walk. Seems a shame that the town did little to incorporate it's natural surroundings into that visual cacophony. Watching this I did realize there is a distinct difference between a tourist town and a resort town (like Colorado ski towns). Anyway, a little kitsch never hurt anyone. Hope all is well.
Well said Tom. Good to hear from you. I think part of the reason it's so dense with so much is that it's hemmed in by mountains. Anakeetsa is up on the top of the mountain and has activities but I think it's the type of town that just evolved making the most of what it had to offer. While may prefer the Park side of the line, the town certainly has succeeded in finding a large and appreciative audience. We've had a cool spell here but it's getting hot again this week. Still, things are good out here. I hope you are as well. -H
I can't walk for long, I had surgery on my ankle two weeks ago to remove 6 pins and a plate from and old injury. So, I'm healing well but doing limited exercise yet. I'm pretend walking with you until I'm doing better! I've wanted to visit Gatlinburg, It looks beautiful!
Gatlinburg, mid July . . . . . . there at a table dealing stud, sat the dirty, mangy dog that named me Sue. Johnny Cash! That's all i knew about Gatlinburg. 😀
I drove through Pigeon Forge and past Dollywood but it was pretty spread out and not really conducive to a walking video. I'd love to visit Dollywood someday. -H
Good point. And I think I was just in a bit of shock after driving through such beautiful mountain country roads and then suddenly arriving in a vibrant, busy, and loud city center. Obviously, a lot of different people enjoy visiting. Thanks for watching and your comment as always. Cheers -H
Good question Michelle. I guess, I was there and it was an interesting experience. While I admit this type of place isn’t for me, obviously plenty of people do like it. I feel like it’s good to get out of my comfort zone sometimes and consider that there may be things beyond my preconceived notions that I might want to open my mind to. That said, I still don’t think this is really someplace I would want to spend much time, however, the area is absolutely gorgeous with the nature and park and mountains. THAT, I do enjoy. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching. - H.
Gatlinburg, Tennessee seems like a vibrant and tourist-friendly town with stunning natural beauty. Can't wait to visit!
Well said and very accurate. I hope you get the chance to see it in person. -H
Fantastic walk ❤ lovely nature. I like national parks 🏞️
Thanks so much. Yes this is quite different than the bordering national park for sure. Thanks for watching. - H.

Hopefully you got to do some hikes outside of town. There are some beautiful trails right outside Gatlinburg.

Great walk from Gatlinburg.
Thanks so much -H
There's so much kudzu in our city. It's everywhere. I wouldn't really call it an eyesore but there's just so much of it.
Wow. I think the main problem is that it chokes out native plants and trees.

Johnny Cash!
That's all i knew about Gatlinburg. 😀
Nice one. I had forgotten that reference. Thanks. Love The Man in Black. Apparently, it was written by Shel Silverstein, which I never knew -H
nice.great wilderness of smoky mountains u could also visit the nearby pigeon forge.
I drove through Pigeon Forge and past Dollywood but it was pretty spread out and not really conducive to a walking video. I'd love to visit Dollywood someday. -H
🚶♀🏞 Walking with you is like being there!A new friend and subscriber from Istanbul Turkey 🌟🇹🇷
Thank you so much and welcome! -H
You have travelled a lot of cities and small towns in USA, which one is the friendliest according to peraonal experience ?!!
I don’t know if I can rank them. Certainly, the further one gets from big cities, the friendlier people are. -H
*Henry ...this place ain't like California, people here look all shapes and sizes* 👍
Good point. And I think I was just in a bit of shock after driving through such beautiful mountain country roads and then suddenly arriving in a vibrant, busy, and loud city center. Obviously, a lot of different people enjoy visiting. Thanks for watching and your comment as always. Cheers -H
Negative attitude doesn't make for a quality video. Try harder next time.
Thank you for that input. -H
If you don’t like it why video it.
