Although heartbreaking, I think we're finally in a place to get past a quarter final. We were a bad bounce of the ball away from beating the lads that ended up in the WC final and probably would have won if Sam Cane could tackle. We've gone too soft, imop, and I'm hoping Nienebar will bring a bit of roughness to Leinster and subsequently, Ireland. 4 years time we genuinely have the potential to go further than the quarters.
Ive thought long and hard about this.....Ireland have been void of luck at world cups. Every team that wins needs a bit of it. SA got it in the final, bounce of the ball every time went against NZ. I feel for Ireland, they are so good enough, but....wrong side of a pool, holding on to old players late in the game, a resurgent NZ....they just couldnt get that 0.5 percent luck that ya need to get going .
Ireland had the best team in the World Cup. If you cannot win with this team, how do you win? If they don’t learn to deal with pressure, they will wait 36 more years to win a World Cup. They should’ve kept their mouths shut during the Haka. The singing really pissed the All Blacks off
So just for good measure - notice how @13:17 Jordi Barret missed exactly the same kick in the finals - from almost exactly the same spot on the field, in exactly the same way - pulling it to the left of the posts. Did he NOT learn?
Imagine you are Ireland and your best player is Maori and not even born in Ireland 🤣🤣🤣 And you still can't make it past a world cup quarter final but you keep telling yourself that you're going to win the world cup. Get into a semi at a world cup, then get into a final the next world cup and then when you get into another final on your third attempt, you win it.
The real difference is mentality. Both France and Ireland left DuPont and Sexton on the field too long and they tired. South Africa and New Zealand were willing to make the substitutions. Rugby is more than 15 v 15, and that’s exactly why the Boks won the whole thing. No team in rugby history has emphasised that more. Every person has a part to play, and they all give 100% and have 100% trust in one another to do it.
Have to agree, farrell should have made substitutions earlier when sexton and others were out of gas. Overall too many players had sub par performances, credit New Zealand for being ruthless
Even though I’m not an ABs supporter, I rooted massively for them in this game, because of how the Irish behaved in their series win in NZ. Watching how shattered POM was after the game, I didn’t rejoice in his misery, because he was really crestfallen, but I remember thinking: “Dude, it’s tough, but you 100% deserve this.” Biggest dose of karma I’ve ever seen in sports. Though I felt sorry for some of the likable Irish players like Keith Earls, Robbie Henshaw, Bundee Aki, and a handful of others. It was an absolutely majestic game, and the margin was narrow. But in the end, the slightly better team won.
On reflection bit hard on Smith - his arm is already out, he doesn’t move it towards the ball, he just leaves it outstretched - doesn’t even attempt to gather, so it’s just a knock on for me... not deliberate and not cynical... you don’t have to move out of the way etc... some strange decisions at that World Cup, they really wanted France and Ireland to do well...
I dont know if it's been done before, but I've never seen an opposition player win against the ABs on their 100th test match. Players that come to mind are: Adam Ashley Cooper, John Smit, there are more but they're coming to mind atm lol
If Ireland won this game and the world cup they could've became the greatest rugby team ever. Grand Slam, Winning Streak Record and World Cup Winner. Only the ABs can stop that momentum. 🔥
Now your gonna have to win at least 4 world cups with 3 of them back to back to surpass the GOATS. I cant see that happening in 100 years. Meanwhile the Boks are going for 3 in a row & you still searching for your 1st semi final. But you do have good team I’ll give you that.
Thats a bit far fetched. Def a very good team, but greatest ever? The ABs from 2012-2015 had a 93% win rate and went a season undefeated. Multiple trophies and a WC victory. Let’s see what Ireland can do the next 4 years and see if they can keep it going. It’s great for international rugby 🍻

I love the Irish comments:”We’ll be back in 2027”. They’ve been saying that for 32 years. This year they definitely had the best team they’ve ever had. Pressure is any sports’ lie detector. You can have the best team in the world, but can you win clutch games? This is where the All Blacks and Springboks are masters. I agree with the one comment about England being the only Northern Hemisphere team able to perform under pressure
Ireland will never ever be as strong as they were for this world cup. This was their shot and they blew it. Can't count on Kiwis to continually switch to Ireland to shore up their obvious deficiencies. Power runners. Their best bet is to tap in to the worldwide Irish diaspora.
Completely agree with all of that. This is also why Scotland have never won anything, even with their mercenary players. They have loads of talent and have great flair but they go missing when it matters. Somehow England manage to be capable of handling the pressure, I'm not sure why.

O, the agony, a year ago : - will we have Beauden, or will we have Ritchie at 1st five... &Jodie was solid at fullback. This great solution was found, and the two try-scoring line-breaks were made by Beauden and Ritchie. Great stop by Jodie too. Smart solution.
Our greatest achievement (sure, at the World Cup, as it turned out) but for many years. Massive game. The ABs 'turned up to play' in the final too. So good, as good as ever. And just one point in it again in that one (SAs three one-point games). Great tournament. Well done ABs. & all.
I'm sorry but your spelling is atrocious, I mean to say Jodie you know what his name is you pansy.

Ireland had their chances, good teams find a way to win in the big games
Yes. This is very true.
Anyone watching this before the Six Nations? Henson's missed kick was key IMHO
Best game of the tournament
Hard to say - F vs S just as good. Finals also ebbed and flowed with cutting-edge tension all the way. So many "almost tries".
Nah I’d say France vs South Africa was more exciting. There were more dynamic breakaways and the speed and of play was unbelievable
This how you cut highlights, including missed kicks and all. Capturing the "flow" of the game. Well done! Too bad Ronan Kelleher could not ground that ball. Ireland would have won it, and arguably the whole competition. They beat the eventual winners. C'est la vie!
Jordy Barret..such a mixed RWC...wow!..Playing NZ after beating SA...sounds like Rassie checkmated..
That yellow on smith was ridiculous

its funny how ireland started there winning streak with defeating nz and nz are the ones to end there winning streak and now even beat them this year aswell
Then they lost to England and SA, then NZ again.
The ABs not at their best with all the saga come to the final and get beaten by 1 point! Tells you a lot about the men tney are! There is that something in the New Zealand culture when it comes to the Abs. Very sacred!
Is there a better sight in rugby than watching johnny sexton sulk
Nope. Except maybe Finn "box of tricks" Russell moaning.
I mean, Owen Farrell mouthing off to the ref and missing his kick comes pretty close.😂
SA fan clearly....Makes me happy we beat you in spectacular fashion recently ;)
@@onecoldnightinwinterso one point is a spectacular victory when you win but when we beat France, England and the ABS all by one point and win the World Cup its less spectacular? Ireland - the “best” team that never could. 🤣
@ryanfreeman8097 you could say that, but then again, if Dan Sheehan tackled Will Jordan, we could be celebrating the WC win.
@@Spud607 How often does Will Jordan get tackled from behind....

Ireland had the best team in the World Cup. If you cannot win with this team, how do you win? If they don’t learn to deal with pressure, they will wait 36 more years to win a World Cup. They should’ve kept their mouths shut during the Haka. The singing really pissed the All Blacks off
newzealand fan here, ireland played extremely well and are the greatest team how did they hold a 37 phase but allblacks outplyed them.
Allblacks turned up when it matters 🎉
We were never out of the World Cup picture , great game 🖤
True story. Never underestimate the NZ pedigree.

just before AS yellow, that was a forward pass from Lowe to Hansen
I did remember Irish Fans saying this was going to be a "One way traffic match" days prior to this match....too bad they couldn't back that up
That they did. A few times. When have the EVER backed it up.
this was a bitter sweet victory for The All Blacks
I am also confident that Ireland will never beat the AB's again.
Why, because New Zealand were the only the width of Jordie Barrett's hand of losing this match?
Those days are gone
Dont BE silly boy,we will Beat The AB,a Lot more in the Future, and you know IT Mate 😅

bundee aki's try was something
Came back here to look at Whitelock’s steal again after the book.
So just for good measure - notice how @13:17 Jordi Barret missed exactly the same kick in the finals - from almost exactly the same spot on the field, in exactly the same way - pulling it to the left of the posts. Did he NOT learn?
That sexton kick...knew it was over from then
Imagine you are Ireland and your best player is Maori and not even born in Ireland 🤣🤣🤣 And you still can't make it past a world cup quarter final but you keep telling yourself that you're going to win the world cup. Get into a semi at a world cup, then get into a final the next world cup and then when you get into another final on your third attempt, you win it.
Sorry when was the last time you beat south Africa😮
Ireland have beat them twice out of three
And you have only won 2/5 games in the rugby championship 😂
sorry remind me what ireland’s historic head to head v new zealand is?
and what is your best ever world cup result?
fool.
Most of New Zealand players are from the Pacific Islands you clown
Wow wow . Congratulations NZ ❤ from Australia
Watching how shattered POM was after the game, I didn’t rejoice in his misery, because he was really crestfallen, but I remember thinking: “Dude, it’s tough, but you 100% deserve this.”
Biggest dose of karma I’ve ever seen in sports.
Though I felt sorry for some of the likable Irish players like Keith Earls, Robbie Henshaw, Bundee Aki, and a handful of others.
It was an absolutely majestic game, and the margin was narrow. But in the end, the slightly better team won.
NZ always the benchmark in attacking brilliance 👌
On reflection bit hard on Smith - his arm is already out, he doesn’t move it towards the ball, he just leaves it outstretched - doesn’t even attempt to gather, so it’s just a knock on for me... not deliberate and not cynical... you don’t have to move out of the way etc... some strange decisions at that World Cup, they really wanted France and Ireland to do well...
As a South African - I really wouldn’t have minded either of these teams winning 🍀
Could have gone either way , like probably every knockout game from RWC '23
Not Abs V Argentina lol
I dont know if it's been done before, but I've never seen an opposition player win against the ABs on their 100th test match.
Players that come to mind are: Adam Ashley Cooper, John Smit, there are more but they're coming to mind atm lol
You've got a confused memory, John Smit missed the tackle on Ma'a Nonu that won that game for the All Blacks.
The image of the arrogant fella named Andrew Porter at the end of the game warms my heart 😂😂😂
They were not going to beat the Boks in the finals, you know this.
@@soletumazimela6481 to be fair, they already beat the boks in the pool stage, not too far fetched

Reiko's defense went missing in this game. Aki went right through Reiko and scored. But all in all a good game by both teams. If there was a lesson to be learned in this game it would be to never underestimate them bloody Kiwis especially if they weren't one of the tournament-favorite.
You got to be kidding. So Reiko is supposed to cover out wide ( centre and wingers) as well as inside 2nd five. Please don't make calls on things you don't have a clue about
Crazy that NZ let Badee Aki go.
He had SBW, Maa Nonu ahead of him for the no.12 spot when he left
@@floydkingi4364 I get that, but SBW was a temporary fad. He was never a long term development because he always followed the money. There was debate about sacrificing the ling term potential of Bandee for the short term option of SBW. Given how it worked out, SBW was the wrong bet to place.

Ireland are a fantastic side but u should never ever count out the all blacks, let alone an all black team with so much experience and proven world class players. Players like Aaron smith, Beauden Barrett and Sam Whitelock all have proven themselves as the best in the world in their positions the past decade and that means something even if they are “past it”

Yup - and exactly the same spot too! Didn't learn it seems.
They will never learn LOL because they pride themselves on running rugby. Just look at how their fanbase moan that Springboks play boring rugby.
Dan Carter could have slotted those kicks with his eyes closed and duct taped to a wheelchair.
They have another 4 years to learn this crucial lesson.
Richie and Jordie are the best kickers we got but those clutch moments were fails unfortunately
South africa is really a special team but new Zealand is quite the intelligent group
Kiwis 🥝 absolutely a delight to watch
If the World Cup were to be replayed in a month's time, Ireland and France could be in the final, so close were the margins.

New Zealand love to bring up Wayne Barnes in the final but forget about this game
I don't think Barnes is deliberately bad, he just is. Us Irish never have any luck with him, and he rinsed NZ in the finals.
@@barryb90 I don’t think he’s a bad referee I think he calls things very fair when the play is happening for both teams. This one went more New Zealand’s way but the final was pretty even. Ireland unfortunately were outclassed in this game and New Zealand played their best game of rugby in years
@RO-nr6up yeah Tmo was quite disruptive in the final but they can’t just allow penalties to go unpenalized
@RO-nr6up South Africa simply outplayed New Zealand in the final it’s no coincidence they won by one point. I think South Africa would win that game no matter what happened even if New Zealand’s try was allowed

Gotta believe it to achieve it
I love the Irish comments:”We’ll be back in 2027”.
6@@joeboonmusic4004 Ireland don't have the necessary mix of ethnicities. Simple. They are never winning the world cup. They are on essentially the same registered rugby player numbers as NZ. But they lack the essential melanin injection. Can you pick up what I'm laying down ?
Still watching this in 2024
why do we need TMO in the highlights its the one time we can skip this blot on our game.
First 2 tries come from Rieko assists and yet people immediately forget and claim he cant pass and is useless at centre

Interesting that Jordi Barret missed exactly the same kick in the finals - in exactly the same way - pulling it to the left of the posts. Did he NOT learn?
Said the same thing, I would've thought he'd work on it during the 2 weeks, but he did not; costing NZ a potential, if not guaranteed win.
I only just noticed that same angle and distance on this re-watch and mentioned it. If only...
All Blacks don't have a kicker. Always need to play running rugby. No plan B if plan A doesn't work. Dan Carter would have slotted that with his eyes closed and ductaped to a wheelchair. One would have throught they'd work on their kicking game for the knockout stages. They'll soon learn you can't always win a game running in the most tries and kicking is equally important.
